Hello, I'm new to RPG Maker. I've been looking around for something that may help me in my path, and I thought I could figure it out on my own. But I'm not having much luck right now. Perhaps you all can give me a hand? One of the big things I need to get a handle of is the ability to transform an enemy into another enemy. But not just when they are weakened. I need something to replace the death animation entirely.

Why?

Well, I'm creating progressively evolving boss battles.

Example:

Boss A's HP reaches 0.

Force Action --> Animation triggers on Boss A, transformation animation showing Boss A turning into Boss B. (ala Final Fantasy 4 Zeromus reverting into his true self: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co7RctVJIMo#t=5m15s )

Boss B appears, replacing the now dead Boss A; however, Boss A doesn't 'vanish'. The Transformation Animation replaces his death animation.

How exactly can I accomplish this?

My goal is to have long boss battles.

Where Begin Battle >> Boss A >> Boss B >> Boss C >> Boss D >> Boss E >> Boss Final >> Defeated

Now, is this a Script or an Event?

RPG Maker VX.

I've been told what I'm looking for can't done by Battle Events alone, so I posted a Script request.

You can view it here:: http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=30574

Yes, I see... I am not a very good scripter but seeing what you said is the truth I was hoping you were working in rpg maker XP. VX doesn't have all the good eventing like everyone else has said before. I looked into this on the vx and realized that when I set up the battle event after the monster transformed the event kept looping itself. This was odd because when I tested it in XP it worked perfectly.

Hope the best for this.

Hello OrleanKnight, I have found a solution to your problem.

Step 1: Open your "Database Editor". Short-Cut: F9

Step 2: Click the "Enemies" tab and create your bosses. I will only be making two, a Slime King that will transform into a Slime God.

Step 3: Click the "Troops" tab and create a new troop, adding the Slime King.

Step 4: Click the "Common Events" tab and create a common event. Add a "Show Battle Animation" event found in tab three of the "Event Commands", and choose one of the animations that you like. Add an "Enemy Transform" event also found in tab three, which transforms "Enemy 1" into "Slime God". Don't worry if the enemies box looks empty. Add an "Enemy Recover All" event found in tab three, and set the enemies to "Enemy 1". This will heal the boss back to full HP after it transforms. Add an "Erase Event" found in tab two. I like to add these in just to make sure no looping is happening.

Step 5: Click the "Skills" tab and create a new skill. Make sure the scope is none, and set the Common Event box to the one that you made earlier.

Step 6: Click back to the "Enemies" tab and navigate down to the "Action Patterns" box. Add a new "Action", click the "HP" radio box and set it to 10% ~ 100% (This can vary on how much HP your boss has, find a suitable number that would allow the boss to execute the skill before it would die). Set the "Action" to skill and select the "skill" that you just made, set the rating 2 numbers above your other attacks. For example: My Slime King's "Attack" has a rating of 5, I would set this "Action" to 7.

Step 7: You're done, Battle Test it, add it to your game, customize your boss with skills, custom stats, and make a fun fight, it's up to you.

If you are still stuck on anything, don't be afraid to ask and I'll see if I can explain it any clearer.

<3 Kiss

Hey Thanks a lot, I just wanted to let you know that the suggestion was sound, but sadly didn't bear any fruit. This is because the basis of your suggestion was Enemy Transform system, which is currently bugged in the RPG Tankentai Sideview Battle System script. While you can endlessly transform enemies using Enemy Transform, the battle system I'm using doesn't switch the graphics properly. So the name and stats switch fine, but the character's physically appearance is still something else.

The resolution is either a Patch to fix the script, or create a complicated work around. Sadly, a complicated work around is my only option.

The only way for you system to work is if I use the "Enemy Appear" element, which is what I currently use. Limiting to the appearance of different "forms" to 8, which is how many enemies can be in the Troop. If you can find a way to switch out the people in the Troop - which is pretty much impossible without Script.. then there is no easy fix to this problem.

I appreciate the help. Your method is pretty much a work around stuff I can already program in a battle sequence.
