I did not miss the point of them. You missed the whole point of my post. Here, I'll even spell it out for you.

Why should we care about something that doesn't show any effort put into it?

Whether or not you did put effort into it is only for you to know. However, in my eyes and I'm sure the eyes of many others, it sure as hell doesn't look that way with those one-liner descriptions. And if we don't think you bothered to put effort into it, why should we bother to reply? That's just conceited on your part. And that's why I said it just wasn't working. Now, go back and re-read my post. Maybe you'll learn something new rather than seeing what think want to see.

I want to make a few comments shanghai, I get what you were saying that to you it doesn't look like there was any work put into it because it is so short. I think Kaz made the fair point that it is meant to be a quick little blurb. just like when you go through any of the forums and sub forums you see a list of topics.. The difference here being that this holds posts from all over the RRR not just area by area.

Now to clear up some peoples not just your, opinions of how this is made it goes like this. There's a list made that all staff can contribute to of suggesting new topics to be put into the news and views. So most are chosen by staff. Sometimes a member might want to make an announcement on something big on their project and they can pm a mod etc and ask to have a link to their project discussion added too and we can see about adding those.

Now as for work and effort, I think Kaz might have meant that one way or the other whether we are typing 20 one line descriptions about topics or 20 full paragraphs like you suggest there's still significant work involved in sorting through all suggestions keeping tabs on them all week month etc to make sure they stay active, and then selecting what gets put into the news and views.

Add to that, the fact we try to stay timely and to get these news and views out regularly. None of your mods admins etc get's paid to do this job. We do it because we love the site it's members and we love to see what the community comes up with next. However most of us have jobs that require very specific constraints on us and finding the time to make sure that something like the news and views is current topical and relevant to the community and getting it put out at regular intervals can be more time consuming then it looks.

Hopefully this clears up some of he confusion that some members might have had. If any of you thought that one person just clicked about the forum picked a few random threads that looked interesting to us and then jotted them all down in the space of 30mins then your mistaken. We try to put a full effort for all of you. Remember there's a lot of work that goes into running this site that is all behind the scenes that most members will never notice. I'm sure the current and former mods can attest to that.

Again I hope this helps explain the process. I personally wish I had more to contribute to news and views but my work is mostly with the gallery and Irc though when someone add's a huge load of new images to the resources gallery all at once I do try to communicate it. Maybe I should tack on a little section at the bottom of news and views with a "Best Of" IRC quotes
