More Rankings Please Options

Okay, to be quite honest, one reason I stopped posting here is cause there is only two rankings: Members and Revolutionary. A tip for RRR admin: add more ranks. More ranks will make members want to post more so they can show off their rank.

If you have more than two rankings already, disregard this post and lock it immediately. If not, please add more. I'm sure you're smart enough to come up with new names for ranks.

We have discussed this before in here-I am sure-

We encourage positive replies and not members posting to increase count- most people are pleased to have the number of posts to prove how much they join in - rather than a badge.

Each rank is a group in itself- there are more perks by being a Revolutionary than a Member - there are no real perks we can offer for higher ranks.

He's not asking if there is something to be gained from the ranks, he just wants the forum to have some more flavor and I can understand where he is coming from, some advice, do as he says. As for an example, 1k posts is like the spammer rank, or I don't know Great Contributor, it's just to show what you have achieved, and to see if you are reliable.

I totaly agree with this, but again i can see the draw backs that this may bring.

Although if more ranks are given, maybe another two. one at 1k and the other at 2k then maybe it will make the members more active, i dont know. But there is always going to be the chance of spam. I remeber when i wanted to be a revolutionary, 100 osts felt like alot xD

Some of the best members of sites who make real quality posts often don't even make enough in total to reach revolutionary. It's a bit of a downer to be making tons of quality posts (not saying I do haha) only to find you need to spam 1000 one-liners to achieve anything.

Your giving a bad example <.< let's say 1k-5k or to 10k. Although, I think there should be custom ranks for some members who are dedicated to the forums.

This is the problem- he's right this is the case..

It wont increase activity because it is not a competiton to get the most posts here, it is a forum.

Those people who make a contribution and are respected - they are known by their fellows as being just that.

Many respected and well known people move up to become staff or mods. We have the Reviewers group as well.

Our gold members (another rank) are either ex staff or ex moderators.

Hmm... Maybe once they reach 1,000 we can just have them be able to move their own topics. Like if they accidentally put it in a wrong place. That would be helpful. But just still keep the Revolutionary group the same.
You could offer just a different color, or even the ability to add their own badge under Revolutionary. Or maybe just some extra quirks to the forums that under 1,000 users don't get.

Now now Greenlinator, no one likes a beggar. Seriously I've been kicked off a site or two from begging about something. It was 2-3 years ago I think. Trust me man you don't want to beg. If they won't do it, suggest something else less... of what you wanted. Like I did in my post right above yours. Don't beg and plead them to do it because they won't. And you will be frowned upon.

Just an idea:
What if the ranks were like give to people, by like moderators or whoever, for what they have contributed to such as, like said before, a spamer rank if someone is constantly in the cesspool talking about random/nothing?or say someone who is like a RMXP expert and helps loads of people?

I don't think it works like that. You can do both. In fact, it's even the point of the cesspool (and since the post count doesn't increase in it, you stay at 0 post, if the only thing you do is spamming).

Personally, I'm against a lot of ranks. I know some sites which use such a system and by experience, I know the results: high-ranking members looking down on low-ranking members. Just because of their post count.

I wouldn't say we need more ranks... the color thing wasn't bad though...

maybe at 200 posts, or even 100, you can change the color of it. That's as far as I'd go.
As for the specialized ranks, well that's just the badges.

What'd be the point? You want to prove you're special by having lots of posts? There's a number under your avvy. You want to be known for something? You WILL be. Look at Ember- he's possibly the most infamous person for spamming. Does he have a badge? Nope.
Does Sparrow have a Spam debator badge? Nope. But he's still known for his Spam debating skills.

Why dont you add a rank for people who donate to the site (if you can add a paid subscription or something) that way they can be noticed for donating towards the site and have a cool new badge

Okay, here is an idea: give a rank for those who have their own forum sites. Call them Forum Lovers or something like that.

well a rank is a position within a system.
It doesn't make sense to have a new rank if it doesn't contribute to the system. We have mods, revos, members, reviewers and golds (though there's like a million different words for mod )

It should be forum based, within this forum.
