Eventing - Rules and FAQ

Rules

This section of the forum is for the following things:
-Submitting either an eventing system of a certain subject.
-Getting help and or assistance with event related questions.
-Requesting Event systems.
-Please make use to the Topic icons to make clear what engine the topic is aimed towards. (It helps you more than us)
-Any creation Engine including but not limited to; RPG Maker 2k3, RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker VX.

Wait three days (72 hours) before bumping your own topic. Please don't double post before then, if you wish to include anything extra within that time then use the Edit button at the bottom of your post.

The exception to this rule is one day (24 hours) if and only if a significant or emergency error, bug or even wrong information was included.

Things to remember within this section

Event submissions: [sub]
Do not claim another persons work as your own. Do not post someone else's defined system in other words, if you claim to have created a submission that isn't yours the results will be a heavy warn or worse.
Since events are events this will only become effective if there is substantial or obvious evidence to back the claim.

If your Event system is also on other sites please take the time to adapt it for this one, link only topics will be closed after initially warning the poster and allotted amount of time given.

Constructive criticism only, that doesn't mean to say that you have to say only good things though but if you're pointing out a problem the explain what it is and how it can be improved/altered.
Example - The -code- wouldn't work with this -code-, could you not combine both into one? Using this method...
NOT - Doesn't work! Rubbish!

Getting help [help]
Make clear what Engine you are using first and foremost, there's nothing worse than people completing something only to find that the commands are not there within your Engine.

Describe as best as you can the nature of a problem, screen grabs of the code you're using would also help.
Sometimes even a short demo containing the Event method you're in need of help with.

Explain things you've tried and what the effect had on the system.

If it's a problem with a combination of certain systems then links would be the best way to show people where the problems are.

Requesting [req]
Again please make use of the topic icons and clearly mark what Engine you're using.

Details are key, remember not everyone knows what abbreviations you're meaning when you say ''HIFY 2''
Descriptive as possible, and if you know a sort of way it could work then the use of pseudo code would be even better.

Please do not constantly bump your requests, doing so will result in the topic being closed.

Board guidelines apply throughout unless stated otherwise above.

FAQ

Q- What is Necroposting considered to be here?
A- The maximum amount of time for a topic to be replied in without it being considered a Necropost is three months, unless there's good reason for it. An example of a good reason is if the events are creating problems for you or you need other troubleshooting help.

Q- What's the easiest way for me to set out my submissions topic so I get the information across that people will need?

A--Name of submission-
Difficulty: Easy - Normal - Hard
Engine used: RPG MAKER XP
Alos works with: RPG MAKER 2k(3), RPG Maker VX (Not tested).
Summary: This is an example of how to start off your submission with a quick blurb about what it does.

Switches: 1~5
Variable: None
Common events: 1

Materials: Picture 640x120

Knowledge of: Common events, Fork conditions, show picture, writing a submission (Optional).

You then fill in the rest with the submission, making use of either pictures or the code tags.

Q- Where can I host my screenshots/image instructions?
A- Right here! If you have 100+ posts then you can create your own gallery to host your images.

Also there's various places across the internet that offers this kind of service, please check the link below to find what's best for you and your project.
Photobucket is a free and easy to use service for such things.

Q- What sort of things are best to include in a reply if I want to let the creator know something?
A- The best sort of feedback is constructive and also detailed, to let the creator know the various problems and possible suggestions and/or solutions to correct these.
It also helps if the person reading can understand what you are referring so don't assume they know what section of the Event system you're talking about.

One final note, remember flaming is only a sentence away, there's always nicer ways of putting negative feedback that can actually help its development on the right track instead of putting the creator off.

*Special thanks goes to Holder for creating the rules and FAQ.
