I recently got myself a Dell Laptop. It's run by the Vista operating system. I decided that I wanted to get RPG Maker XP again. So I downloaded it and everytime I try to start it up after installing it gives me the message "Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server" then it kicks me out of it. I don't understand why it's doing this. My last computer was Vista and it worked fine so I'm pretty sure it's not Vista. I have RPG Maker VX on here and it works fine. I don't understand why I can't use XP. If anyone could perhaps explain to me why it's doing this and if there is a way to fix it I'd appreciate it.

Try finding the .exe file (probably programfiles/enterbrain etc...), right clicking it and "run as administrator". That should hopefully fix it.

It all depends on where you installed the program, but it's the one with the golden dragon on it that you use to open RPG Maker XP. So if you're opening it from a shortcut then just go to properties and in the "shortcut" tab it should tell you where the original file is located. Once you find that file you can run it as an administrator.

Hope that helps :x
