Well, I'd just reorganise the structure of the forum.

I'd move the Featured Projects section further up as since they are featured they should be noticed not ignored and shouldn't be on the bottom of the page (as well as this I'd put stickied links to them in the project forums), I'd merge General with Mature (or make Mature a sub forum) and I'd merge Streamline Games into the Featured section.

To be fair to them, ientry has made this place probably one of the most secure rm forums out there; there's no way this place will go down after a hack or whatnot. They're more inclined to do regular backups, and the site is earning them a lot of money so they won't pull the plug easily. But then they have also got a lot of other sites to deal with, and forums aren't their expertise judging by their corporate website.

Given the choice between pulling the plug or selling for several thousand buckaroons I think I know which one I'd pick.

I'm glad this thread didn't turn into "lol xD id admin myself and ban everyone xD"

Summed it up well

I entry do not prioritise the forums and so Quehegan is pushed with his work load - he does and has changed a lot for us but I think he gets called away a lot for other i entry business.
Poor guy when hes shows his face we usually present him with a "to do" list a mile long.

Lol at the ban everybody line - hmm theres a thought..

Can't say it's hard to do. With anger issues that usually lead to remote controls being jammed into places they were never intended to be, it's hard to feel comfortable around a person who almost enjoys said act.

Anyway, What size PC would be optimal for hosting your own website?

Don't try and host off a home PC is my advice. Use hostgator, or servage, or ispeeds.

It's actually quite cheap to host a website; I know .org don't pay too much.

If you were to make an RRR clone I wouldn't go with Invision either. It's too expensive and not as good as some free alternatives. (I'm personally a fan of phpbb, but there's also simplemachines, mybb, etc).

Invision is a very easy to use software and from an admin's point of view the Admin CP is easier to use. Blue Sophia uses MyBB and as an admin of that I can tell you the Admin CP is a lot harder to use effectively. MyBB is free though.

Also, you do know you can get a free version of Invision; InvisionFree?

Well, since any major board-altering changes require iEntry to run people through hula-hoops, I would stick to something not so drastic. For starters, I would change the rules in the "Games In Development" section to include a rule that the newest available download must be linked on the first post of the thread.

Agreed. I don't know why a lot of threads stick their newest version of their games downloads on Page 23, when you should put it on the first page.

If I could, I would also fire the iEntry staff cause they hardly do shit around here. But I couldn't do that, since I don't have the money to pay for this site I don't think. I'd sign us up with GoDaddy or something.

iEntry run this site. RRR is on iEntry's servers.
Try running a website without a webserver. Pretty hard, eh?

And besides, they do more than ya think.

Yeah, you can't just "get rid of" iEntry. They legally own the site, which means if someone attempted to make a clone, they could be prosecuted.

I don't know why you would want to get rid of IEntry. Their ownership means this site is secure and guaranteed to be around for a long time.

You could always mass exodus ~ but that has become such a cliche in the RM community and frankly ientry aren't doing that bad a job, it would be rather silly to do.

Invisionfree isn't updated as frequently as IPB, it is very easy to exploit. Furthermore they have caps on bandwidth and activity - you couldn't run an RRR sized site off them.

I think we're in a good position here with ientry as our leaders even if it does mean some things are limited.
