[Oceans Dream]

The character on the left is Vivian for my future game Island Dreams, and the one on the right is for my future game Ever Blue.


An updated picture of Vivian, with a new dress sphere, I mean clothes.

A drawing done while in Jury Duty. I might make her a character in Azulea, I might not. It depends. I didn't have room to draw the body. The box thing on top is just testing something.

The ankles on the left leg look wrong. Its like the leg just loses muscle tissue there. Same with the wrist on the arm holding the gun.

The position of the neck looks a bit wrong. Almost as if her head is skewed to one side but it could just be the cheeks on the face.

The bottom half of the leg in the back looks a bit wrong. I think it bulges out too far, but thats probably just me.

Her head seems as if its too big for the body.

That's all I really see, but a lot of it could be stylistic and I don't want to criticize someone for drawing something wrong if its not supposed to be a life portrait or something.

Heh, I was fixing up the hair, and forgot to fix the other areas. Whoops. I usually draw the head slightly bigger than normal, and that's a fault of mine rather than a stylistic choice. So yes, those are faults rather than choices. I'll fix it if I have time. And for the legs and any problems with it, it's because of my drawing. I drew the girl and scanned it. However, I ran out of space for the legs, and in Photoshop, I kinda had to make it up. I'll look into these problems, thanks Darkling. And I still have to see if it would fit in well enough in the game or not.

Well, when drawn with detail, I tend to like it. I don't like what ocean calls character art much.

Well, I had done it in a different style before, but I changed it by the request of my friend. I actually wanted to do a 3D Photorealistic type picture, but I'm not that great at it (and I'm bad at the 3D art programs). So I'll see about it, I think I still have the original .psd file to work from.

If nothing else, it's a good start. I'm a fan of anime, so I enjoy that style. Whether it's liked or it isn't...if you're satisfied with it, that's what matters.

Me? No right to criticize. My art is truly atrocious.

Hmm... I don't much like the other one either. I think it's good, but I can't quite appreciate it like I should. I think that means that I don't like this type of art, and that it has nothing to do with the artist.

The lack of an outline kinda hurts the second image and you should add a few folds and wrinkles in the clothes.

Her right forearm looks a bit odd. I think it gets too narrow, or the hand was drawn a tad bit too small.

Her right leg looks like it got cut off. You should add a little line on her skirt that gives it the appearance that the right leg is in front of the left leg,

I do like the little images you have on her shirt though. Looks neat. Keep up the good work! :Thumbup:

Alright, I fixed up the second image. Hope it's much better now! I also have a character sprite of her, which is 200% of the width and height of the original.

Alright, updated this topic, because the pictures I have weren't pixel monkey statues. Check the first post. I added a new version of Vivian (Vivian X-2?), which I did just before class started. Meaning I had very little time to do this, and I know there are proportion issues. Also, the waves, accessories and stuff are mostly me trying to cover up my mistakes because I used a pen to draw. I also added some other stuff.

Critique: The head looks a bit too big, but it could just be the hair. Also, you should add more line definition to the eyes, particularly the bottom of -her- left eye.

The body looks near perfect. The shading technique you used flows well with it. Good job.

Critique: Not much wrong with it. You probably shouldn't have filled it in with horizontal streaks. You should smooth out the lines. They look a bit wobbly and perhaps make the outlines thicker and darker.

Critique: Same as above, really. I think the legs get way too thin. That's probably just a result of running out of room.

Critique: Not much wrong with it. I love it. I think that the cheek kinda sticks out too far. Look far too "circular". Then again, my style revolves around a less circular/cute girl head shape.

I think those are the only new ones you added. Good stuff. You keep improving. Keep it up and post some more. :Thumbsup1:

Does that one look like it has too much accessories and stuff, or is it okay? I did that to cover up my mistakes, not because I wanted to add all of those accessories.

You mean the first one (Vivian)? Not at all. It looks great.
