If one was so inclinded.., Using Battle animations for party side view Options

I guess the description speaks for itself. I've been kicking around this day dream idea recently around in my head for my introductory XP Game but it would require the use of battle animations for party characters and such. I'm basically planning on making my own battle sprites..

I can do it pretty easy in 2k3 with the actual pre-made party side view and stuff.. but there's a lot I like about XP that I can use to my advantage like Miss animation and having a larger template for animations which basically equals smoother motion.

I've seen some people do this stuff before, so I'm kind of curious how it's done.. some good pre-made scripts that would allow this kind of stuff would be great
