Well, I'm glad to see this thread is still semi-alive for me to make a counter remark.
livpj11, I am aware not everyone visits my game thread. But, what I was suggesting is that people should do like I have, and link to the official Enterbrain site. I mean, if they're going to link to this thread which will just link to Enterbrain, why bother sending users through all sorts of hula-hoops? That's an easy way to piss people off before they even get to play your game.
Now, as for Sail and Brent...
For those of us who
do use the RTP, it becomes really tedious to include the RTP every time we make a game. Why is that? Because, first of all, it does take up a nice chunk of space. Secondly, the other RPGMaker users already have the RTP. But thirdly, if everyone keeps including the big RTP in their game file just so non-RPGMaker players can play it, and then these non-RPGMaker players keep downloading all these games with RTP included... hot damn! Those folks have several games which all have the same files which take up the same amount of space.
It's smarter to just provide the link to the RTP and exclude the bases from the game. This way the players need to download the RTP only once, install it, and then they can be on their merry way of playing any RPGMaker VX game. That way they don't keep wasting bandwidth downloading the same crap over and over (and the uploaders don't waste bandwidth uploading that crap).
Furthermore, what about the RTP stuff you're NOT using? You're making people download stuff that's not even being used IN YOUR GAME. Well, you could try to root out what you're not using, but what if you make a mistake and accidentally remove something that you ARE using? Well, if you're not using Woratona's anti-crash script, you game will crash.

but you can imagine that 85% of everyone will be a bit bummed out if your game does not run and they have to search for the required files to run your game
And that's exactly
why you provide them the
link to the RTP; so that way they don't have to "search for the required files."
Just look at my game thread for example. "Here's the link to my game. If you don't already have it installed, install this extra stuff. Oh, and by the way, you'll be able to play ANY RPGMaker VX game with this second file." The individual RTP file is just a good thing to have for everyone involved.
