12/01/08 11:44AM - It''s been uploaded. Have Fun. If you curious, the next update will focus on the item system. It's balls right now and I aim to fix it.
12/01/08 (Earlier This Morning) - I the Map pack is finished!! Sorry it took so long i caught up in drawing sprites for radias. I'm Not going to reveal the maps you haven't seen yet until the New Build has been out for a day or two, but you can download it and find out what they are once it's up. It's not up yet because I'm still integrating the maps into random arcade mode and I'm fixing bugs in other maps. Mushroom Beach Wont have you falling through platforms that are supposed to be solid, and The Game and watch Maps Foreground is now Translucent so you can see you character when you go behind it. A lot of things are being tweaked, Including Menus. Menus were horribly laggy on some computers. I've reduced the amount sprites shown at once to save processing power. You wont notice it unless you were modding the UI. So if you were, but this is much better in terms of speed. Just edit the Main Pictures instead of the individual Icons.
BTW, The Map PAck includes 8 New Maps (4 have been seen already). Each with it's own charm. Most of these maps have traps, so be careful. Well Bye, I'll post again once i upload the New Build. Which is Called [i]"Smash Gency v1.1: ADR"[/i]
12/01/08 - It's December! Yay! Christmas is comming, as well, the Adrionic Map Pack is Comming as well. Here's some more previews. These were the one of the first maps to be made.
1. Spiked - The Platforms Move up and down to spike you. 2. Trapped *Note: There are some elements to these maps that are still under wraps, i.e. Orange Glass Tile. Difference between Red and Grey Springs.
11/28/08 - Happy Black Friday, I hope you guys get some good stuff without dying for it. Anyway I have the 3 Concepts for the Next Map Pack. The Maps are Named: Caged, Pyramid, Sprung. Please Leave so Comments about the Design while I'm still editing them. Oh BTW I'm using the same tilesets as the Kliff the Monster (Monster City) Series of Levels. I am Think of updating the Kliff the Monster Maps as Well, because they are all essentially the same place. BTW, If you have an Idea for the Music On these levels, feel free to pitch in some ideas.

11/27/08 - So there hasn't been an Update in a while on the game, so to make sure the gameplay doesn't get stale, I'm going to release a Map Pack. Code Named: Adrionic. These maps will be slightly different than the current ones. As they will have weird battle conditions (no matter what mode you play them on). One Map is called Caged. It's essential a Square in the middle of vacant space. Inside the square is where you spawn, but the walls are all solid except the floor. You must either knock the opponent down into the abyss which is death, or lead them outside on the square to kill them. I'll have screen shots or concept art out later.
11/06/08 - It's been brought to my attension that some may not be able open the RMXP installer so i have compiled it into a RAR for convience with patch installed. If you have yet to download the latest version 1.0 with the patch here's it in a nice little package. Thankyou HotSpot6 for your paitience.
9/07/08 - Well im glad to see everyone who is playing Smash Gency. In light of this, i was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a special version of the game and a guide made to mod the game. This would enclude templates, explanations of how to add levels and characters. Change items, and possibly even make a total conversion. Meaning using the engine to make you own game. If you like the idea, give me a post here on the forum.
I dont know if you guys are interested in my next endevor here and RR, but it's a fighting game. Unlike Smash gency it will not be a platformer but a fighter. At the moment the game is in planning stages, but i'll tell you it'll run on Smash Engine 2. The game is going to have custom characters, unlike the games i've made before this. So keep on the lookout for it. It's called "Project Mocap" right now, but that's only because that's a technique i'll be using. If your interested in helpping, give me a pm or ring on instant messenger. I dont check my e-mail very much.
8/28/08 - Okay wih this patch, i decided to submit it to the main site. Un suprisingly more people have played this game in a short time then i have seen people do in a month. It's lovely. So Love all ya'll who kept with the game thus far. And please i ask you. REPORT the Bugs you find here in the Forum. I want to fix them.
8/20/08 - I got a little lazy and a few bugs got out. But That's okay because we love patches around here. I guess it goes to show rushing is bad. anywayhere what i got for you. Patch v1.0 for v1.0
8/16/08 - 2 Days ago i said the end was comming. Well here it is. Everything seems to be done. I'll reveal the finished character list and stage list down the page. It's been a pretty good 3 1/2 years. Please report any and all bugs so that i can release patches. And of course i'll still be adding more stages, to fill the last page. But more so slowly; when i get a chance. I've been a little lazy lately, so if you want to know something that's not posted, post it here.
8/14/08 - Well today i have revealed every mode in the game. Look under the description for it. Also the final character count is 34. This game is really coming to a close fast guys.
8/13/08 - Got some news, good and bad. So here's the bad news, Adventure mode has been nixed from the 1P Mode List. Good news is that Items can now be used. The system is in early stages and is a little hard to use, but hopefuly all the bugs will be ironned out in a few releases. Though Adventure was killed, there has been another 1P Mode added in which i'll release the info to. It's called classic arcade. It's not nerely as random as the current arcade mode. You will be able to have more than one life, but if you lose, you lose. There's no continues, and no, Zomg i loss and can keep going. Look for a release this month. I still dont have a date set yet, but you will be happy to know it comming shortly.
8/06/08 - Hey Guys, Long Time no See. I've got an update. All the characters that will be scrapped have been. That dosn't mean the entire scrap list though, it just means the ones i decided to scrap. There is now 3 Full pages of Playable characters. 21 Stage Levels, and A new 1P Player mode that is active. Though this 1P Mode which I'm keeping under wraps is really hard, I cant beat it yet. But I'll try some balancing to make it somewhat easier. A release is not planned yet. I want to add some more features And possibly finnish this project. It's close now, but i want some build up. But i'll announce something here. I have incorporated mode 7 into the game. This'll add some depth to some levels. Well until next time.
6/16/08 - Ok guys, there's not much news that directly deal with with smash gency, but it does deal with Gency Studios as a whole. No one around this forum will know of knite co. but it was started by a close friend of mine. We are merging to become (as of last talk) Genesis Knites Studios. Knite co. does alot of art, in which gency was lax on. They also have alot of ideas to bring to gency. So if all ends well, we should announce a project or at least the final merg of the the two organizations. Also Smash Gency's "engine" will be used in the next project. As Smash Gency is comming to a close, (yes i know it's sad) I would like to tell you that I'll be scrapping characters. This is primarally due to the smash gency's inability to use sprite sets to correctly unless they are within a 50x50 limit. The next iteration of Smash Gency will allow templates up to 150x150 pixils. 3 times as much. Well that's all the news for today.
6/10/08 - sorry Guys, I havn't posted any news lately. I've been doing something fancy with my xboxes. Well it's still not finished but that's okay, I'm putting more effort back into smash gency. There's a character in development. And there's a rework for gravity coming up. This'll allow for excelleration (i hope). There's no release at this time. Nor is there any planned. But as summer comes up, ill have alot of time. So there's a nice little game i want to work on. I'll keep you updated. And remember, I'm Still Alive...
5/28/08 - I would like to tell everyone this. Smash Gency still only uses events for the actual battling part of the game. Scripts have been used only to make the ingame pause menu, and change the title screen. Other than that there is no other scripts. I dont know if I'm showing the power of eventing or not, but it does mean that you can develop more than just an average RPG on RMXP. Though I may be using the a Mode 7 Script later on for the back ground of a level. It'll add some depth to things like final destination. Also there are 2 Characters being developed. Seperatly though. Sorry guys no ice climbers for you. Remember they're on the scrap list.
5/27/08 - So yeah v0.1 was released yesterday as my internet time was about to run out. That's good. But I havn't told you what was added and updated and what not. So here we go. New characters enclude: Blazikan, Speed, Zelda, Sheik, Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Pichu, Krystal, Sandbag, Samus, and Samurai Jack. Also I havn't updated the guide yet. I kinda forgot bout that, but since it dosn't really matter, (Most people dont even read it), I'll worry about it later. New feature, You can pick color schemes: No Change, Grayscale, Purple, Blue, Light Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Shadow Black. There maybe more to come. It depends if I get bored enough. Also all the characters should be available to fight in Arcade mode. Yes you can select them, but Samurai jack may or may not be an opponant. But I'm sure i hit that detail. Besides that, I want you all to be using the New Hit System, The old hit system makes Many Characters Juggernauts. Like JigglyPuff is a power house unless your using someone with projectiles.
Work has started on the next release. I cant tell you more than that.
5/26/08 - New Release today. Sorry I'm running out of time to post this. I'll just tell you there's 27 characters total and there are 9 color schemes.
NEWS UPDATE!!! for 5/24/08: So the below news has changed a bit. The Color Changing Now works with every character. I know I said I wasn't going to work on it, but i got board enough since I just finished another character. Even though I know she's on the scrap list, I was board, so I finished Krystal. Also There are 24 fully developed Characters (encluding Glitchy ones). So please look forward to the next release. Which there is no date yet.
5/24/08 - I finished that clone I did yesterday. It's Pichu. I didn't wan to release anything till I got rid of all the bugs from him. Also something New. You will be able to change the color of most characters now. For some reason Link's dosn't want to work, but I'm not really pushing the Functionality of this system, because it's not that important. Just know there's about 9 different color schemes. Purple, Green, Red, Blue, Light Blue, Shadow Black, Normal, Yellow, Grayscale. In the menu, after you have picked your character, Click on the Characters picture and it'll change it in game as well. BTW, this only adds a few bits of data, I didn't have to add any new sprites to do this. So rest assured i am trying to limit the size of game installer. I want to keep it under 60-70mb. Right now it's 39.5mb. So I hope it dosn't get too big.

5/22/08 - Again I must appologize for the error. It was carelss, but anyway the day is a new day. Well Characters are being put in left and right now, I hope I can keep this pace up. I'm getting a four day weekend from school and I'm loving it. Anyway, it'll alow for more dev time. Also I guess i can give you the answer to who i was working on. It was Zelda and Sheik. I cant tell you more than that. Because i want some surprises on the next release. Peace.
WAIT! WAIT! There's even more news! There have been over 100 Downloads of Smash Gency! That like alot! So in that like I have a Spoiler for you! and it's not that I just stopped using Exclamation Marks. Pikachu will be in the next Release.
5/19/08 - Okay instead of releasing (dodge that bullet) I made a care package that's called "How to Fix 0.096.rar" It encludes all the files needed. Sorry I got your hopes up for a couple of minutes, but this is easier to stay developing. So here you are. And just to let you know, it's got coding of the new characters in it, but you can use it, sorry. If there is something wrong with the package, dont hesitate to tell me. so I can fix the Package.
How to Fix v0.096
5/19/08 - Bad News again. Apparently, in the new update i got rid of something you needed. In the Versus Level select menu, there is a picture missing when you press the alternate button, it comes up. So I'll help you out in a while. Meaning you'll get a release faster than you expect. Though it'll only have maybe one or 2 new characters. Untill then, you can make a picture in png format with paint and name it:
Data - Load - Hightlight.png
Then put it in the Graphics\Pictures\ directory. Sorry again for the inconvience. Also, something a little more severe, there are characters for the second player that effect the 1P gravity. You'll find out that your stuck in the middle of nowhere untill you jump at times yes? Well here's the list so far: C.Falcon
So far it's seems that's all i can find in coding except for some in house characters that'll tell you later. it's not that bad, all you have to do is jump or an UA to fix the problem. Or you can just play as the 2nd player in vs. and piss off your friends. C-YA
5/18/08 - I have an update on development, I've fixed somethings with c.flacon. So if his DA is annoying, it'll be fixed in the next update. Also I've completed work on one new character and am working on 2 more simultaniously. Good news for ya'll. But you must know, i have never worked on more than one character at a time. So why do I need to work on this pair together? Hint- Not Ice Climbers. Well Let's not beat around the bush. In the next update expect, 6-7 new characters. I know this is more than i normally do, but I'm trying to really press the character issue. given that right now there are 18 completed characters in the inhouse build, we want more chaos right? So yes, more is better. C-ya around.
5/16/08 - So I'm wondering about what the 2 people think of the release after they play. Oh yeah, I'm tracking how many people Download each version. So Far the most Downloaded was 0.095 and second coming is of course the patch. Makes since, since there were enough characters in that version to atleast have some fun, plus AI is nice. Anyway, I'de like some reviews if at all possible. So I know what to fix, and what to change. If you see a character up there you really want to keep and it's on the Scrap List tell me. If there is enough response I'll make sure to add them. If there's a feature you trully want, **excluding adventure mode, Tell me and I'll work on it.
I'm looking for people to convert sprites on sprite sheets to usable sprites that are on 50x50 PNG squares. If your interested, contact me on here. You know my user name, send me a message. I generally check the forrum every day to every other day. I'm also looking for an artist to make the menus look, well, good. There not pretty. Each window is done super fast on Paint. Anyway, I'll leave you with this knowledge, Koikurasu, my partner in crime, has started working with memore closely on this project. This'll encrease the speed the game gets done.

5/15/08 - It's about time that Smash Gency 0.096 see the light of day. Well here you go. Take it. Now wait for the next one. What's New?: Link, Younge Link, Metaknight, Maskless Metaknight, Samus (Power Suit), Peach, Captain Falcon, Kirby ....and.... duh... duh... duh... The Master Hand!
All sounds good huh? Well here's some more. Arcade is more streamlined. There's a warning at the beggining that says you may want to load it to your HDD. Debug is gone. There are tags for each character now, discripting them. Guide is updated. Read it please, at least the Master Hand's. The GameLabel on the 2nd Title screen has changed to the right version. The warning picts in the Level selection are now gone due to some tweaks that help reduce lag. But if your compy sucks, nothing can help you except maybe some setting changes. I didn't leave a note this time, even though i normally do, but that's because im just trying to crank out characters and there's nothing fun about that.
BTW, if you cant remember that list, all the characters on the 1st page work.
5/12/08 - Well I found something disturbing just now, while I was balancing some of the older characters, Mainly Mario Types, I found a Glitch that you may or may not like that is present in all version of smash since Dr. Mario Appeared as a Second Player that could attack to 0.096 Pre-Release. The Mario characters Normal Attack (NA = Pressing C no direction) for the 2nd player Hurts themselves. It may even be spread to there other attacks, but for now what ever. Point is, that i thought the computer just sucked (which the do), but they'll be harder this time around. I dont know if I'll added in Projectile Evasion into the AI yet, but when i do there will be no more spamming the Side Attacks (SA = Pressing C with a Direction). Also I might be adding a radius for the Projectiles so that the comps are able to fire them at farther ranges than they can do now.
I've added somethings, There are now 3 main ways that characters respond to gravity now. Normally, character will fall and hit platforms, these are called Normals. The next type has nor real rules as to how to move, most platforms and Walls wont affect them, these are called Free Roamers. The last type is called a light weight, light weights have a lower ammount of gravity forced upon them UNTIL you hit Down, then they accerate to normal gravity. Might be nice.
Characters now summount to a total of 14 as of last count. Though 1 of these may or maynot be playable, depends if I can get out the Glitches and If it can not be so powerfull when disabiling the new hit system. *Note When using the Old Hit system, characters teleport and can be teleported into and through walls. Also you may actually teleport them more times the once with a singal hit. (I.E.: Bowser's, Link's, and Younge Link's UA)
I dont know if Allstar mode will be available next update, but I'm hoping it will. I just need to A. Draw the Map, B. find the Map, C. Get it from somebody who will submit it to me, Then after that Program the sequences and make a spuedo (or how ever you spell it) Item system in the works for healing. It's sounds like a alot more than it is, but it's really only 1-2 days of working after school till 11pm. So yeah what ever.
5/11/08 - Okay, well i got some news here. I went camping this weekend and got nothing done sounds exciting right? Yep i did no home work, hardly did any camping either. I was working on Smash. Rejoice people, Rejoice. Well actually i did do alot of camping, but still on the down time i had my laptop and I was cranking through. So in that light I'll release the password protectiveness on 0.096 [Pre-Release]. I figure it really dont matter since now there's a very significant update comming up. I might release closer than you think. Anyway, you wont need the pass by latetest, tomarrow night, but untill then, here's the Password. Gency Yep, that was it, easier than you thought huh? Well anyway I'll leave you with a spoiler for next update.
Oh yes, before i forget, don't mess with Debug Mode Unless you know what your doing. Which you probubly dont, but something might happen. Who knows. But you know I'm nixing that in full release, I cant have you unlocking things you shouldn't.

5/06/08 - NEWS, NEWS, NEWS. I havn't said much lately in the way of real relevant news. Well i guess i'll just drop the bomb. Anyone want to get there hands on the a pre-relased version of 0.096? Well if you do just message me. Ya'll know how to contact, me but it's probubly better to just hit me up on here or on AIM. I dont check e-mail you see. Oh yeah i forgot if i told you this, but a massive glitch in which stopped the whole game was added when limited jump was added. Andso, there for The game will forever have unlimited jump. Dont worry there's still strategy to be had with unlimited jump, in fact getting comps to the top of the screen is one of the best way to kill them. Oh yeah confirmed characters in the Pre-Release are: Mario Luigi Dr. Mario Fox Falco Wolf Bowser Link Younge Link Samus
Yep that makes 10 characters. Arcade is now funly varied as opposed to those 5 characters your playing with. The Pre-Release is limited to the ones who message me, I'll have a password on it that I'll provided to you. You welcome to give it out to friends, but since it's a pre-release i want to keep the ammount of people who Download it limited. Please send me any info on bugs. In relevant news, the spawns for places have changed so that people are farther away from each other, and so that there are no automatic deaths. Respawning is still the same, i'll get to that later.
4/28/08 - So I have been silent for the last month. Sorry about that. I've been feeling really crappy lately. Girl Troubles and Health problems are not a norm for me. So anyway, I have fix a bug that makes no since to me why the logic is off. It's probubly a problem within postiality but I dont care. No longer am I going to try and implement "limited Jump." The Glitch it created when implemented crash the whole game. Everything but the music stopped. Therefore live with it. Instead I'm going to keep on adding characters. I'll have the next release out in a month or less no matter how crappy it is, i know you guys want some more action so i'll give it to you.
3/23/08 - Hi guys, I didn't know how horrible the game is to you guys till i played the game with the patch. I constantly are upgrading the game so i dont releize many glitches. I'm going to release once I have fixed this flaw, hopefully fixing other problems as well. There will be something strange about how the game opens up the next time. So look out you know.
3/19/08 - Urgent! Well sort of, there has been a gigantic stop error that has been built into the currently unreleased build v0.096 and wont be worked on for atleast 2 days, I'm very sick right now, and I don feel like doing anything right now.

Which also means you'll probubly see young link as well. But these character arn't announced, they will be announced officially only if there coding make some speed. BTW, the condenced version has everything i meant to say in it.
3/14/08 - Hey guys got a couple of news chunks to tell you. I'm announcing that Bowser and Wolf are both in Arcade mode now. Yeah that was to be expected but the only way to have them fight was to have coded them in the 2P slots as well. Another thing is that DocCobra Has joined the team. DocCobra's a help to say the least. We are working on Samus as DocCobra's first character. Hopefully i can get this projectile system up so that we dont have a meeleing samus. That'd be awful. I know i'm starting to announce characters left and right, but i'm really trying to make characters fast for the official release of the Beta. Once that happends, you probubly wont here from me alot because of Bug testing, but that's a good thing. More Testing menas better game. BTW, IDK if samus will be in the next release.
3/13/08 - Hey guys, I got some news for yah. I have begun development on the projectile system. Can we say fireballs? how about lasers? Giant Beam cannon maybe? Well I hope that sparks some interest. Oh also, I found a wolf sprite, The next release may have Wolf from starfox in it. If brawl can have 3 clones, why cant gency. Oh wait we do, Mario / Dr. Mario / (somewhat) Luigi. Oh well peace.
3/11/08 - Sorry, for the dry news reel so i'll make it up with a character announcement, Bowser will be added to the list of playable characters on the next release. Another one is that you may have to download seperate character picture sets for the next release to save room in game for other things i wont mention at this time.
3/01/08 - Hey guys I released the 1 and Only Patch for 0.095. It fixes some bugs that you can read at the bottom of this post. You'll need to download both, I havn't released a Patched Version of v0.095 so you'll have to use the patcher. Sorry for the inconvience.
2/28/08 - I'll be releasing a patch later to fix the bugs i missed in 0.095. Sorry about that. I'll alert you when i release it.
2/25/08 - Todays, the day. 0.095 is out, it's signifigantly added to. Next releases will re-do character creatation, but you wont notice it. More levels will be added. Please send me some stages, get on the credits. It'd be nice to have a whole lot of the community on there. Anyways, saving is important for there are settings to alter for yourself. Fox, Falco, Dr. Mario, Mario, and Luigi are full fleadged characters. Look forward to more characters to come. I've added a note as well.
Description Smash Gency is a 2D Action / Fighter with various character spanning from old school games to modern animes. Interestingly the codename for this game was "Within Worlds 3." Basic StrategyThe basic strategy is to increase your opponants Damage percentage in order to knock them off the stage. The more the Damage the father they fly. Keep in mind that different attacks have varying effectivenesses. Game Modes-1P Modes - Classic Arcade - Fight through 9 stages of opponants with limited lives. Random Arcade - fight through random opponants on random stages with no effect if you when or lose. All-Star - Fight every character in the game, That's 34 Characters, Limited lives and limited ammount of healing items. -2P Modes- Versus - Play against your friends or a computer in custom games. You can even play 2 Computers against each other. Controls

Screenshots & Concepts JOIN THE CREW I need the following: Testers: Would be responsible for the testing a recently changed section of the game. Can be anything from menus, to the measurements on platforms. Your oppions would be heavily weighted on my descions.
Scriptors: A common need among the RMXP Development Scene. You all would be responsible to slowly convert the event coding I have done into RGSS form that would Run Much better, and Help Me (Head Designer / Developer) to implements them into the game. I have a few things that need to be done below.
NOTE:(I would like to learn some RGSS as well. I dont need to learn anything about the RPG elements, just how to do Conditional Statements, Use Variables, and how to make things happend because of that. Like Turn on switches.)
1. Mouse Usage for Menus: Being able to Track the mouse using Game Variables, so that Events can use them more easily. This would be helpful for many of my games.
2. The Characters Moves: Right now I use 2 Common Events For these all together. One for the Sprites and One to see if the characters are in range and to see how much damage that character has and to see how far he will go and to do the animations. The system I'm using is pretty unresponsive.
3. Give me more that 50 layers of Pictures to work with: Pretty Self Explanitory.
4. New Input Module: I want something that will allow for the full use of analog Sticks on a controller, Allow for more buttons to be used on the keyboard, and of course mouse usage. This will be helpful for hopefully 4 players.
5. AI: AI for computers, that intelegent, yet beatable. Different difficulties of course.
Level / Stage Designers: (Dont need to Join the Studio, just need to be put in the credits) I'm always looking for new levels to stick in the game. Though I have learned that fancy things, like Moving Plaforms and Animated Backgrounds is alot for RMXP. These things must be kept to a minimum. Also there can only be steady inclindes, kind of live 5 pixils up or down, eery 25 - 50 pixils across. It's better to just keep to boxes. No Circles, they are a pain. I do like original Stages. Those dont come to often and plus you can right your name all over it. Saying it's yours.

I might check it out later today. I usually don't play RMXP games (well, I can't unless I'm at my work computer) but I'll make an exception. I love when people make games that aren't your typical games. While I hope you do eventually take advantage of the scripting as well, it's very good that you're using event coding, rather than all default stuff. Since I don't know how long it is, I'll see if this has to go in screens/demo or project boards. Project boards is for long demos or complete games.
Sorry, it gives me an error when I tried to run it. I think it said something like RGSS, RTP error, but I forget exactly. So it didn't let me play it. I don't have RMXP on this computer, and I downloaded the latest version that you have.

The problem should be fixed now. Also Note: How can you determen the playtime value of a fighting style game. It all depends on the person. Right now this game will be contantly updated with new characters and levels, even after the So called finish product is unvailed, the fact of the matter is that this game will always be expanding, because it only takes one day to make a character for both, first and second player. Now i probubly wont post again, till tomorow sense it is my birthday, but i will leave you with that thought.

im back on the boards, and im looking for a team to work with, on this project. it's harder than i thought, and i dont understand half the glitches on there. i know it's hard to look at someone elses code and fix it, but if i could have some help on this, it would be great. even though im skilled, im not an expert, so if this game is to shine, i need some tremendous help.

Okay, it works if you have the RMXP RTP on your computer, but not if you don't, I believe. I don't think the process to make it stand-alone is really working, then. It's just what I've been told, I haven't actually played it.
