And maybe I'm misunderstanding but...
Database>Classes>Kate's Class>Equippable Armors>Ring checkbox...?
Then everytime you give the ring to someone have the variable go up by X in the event where the item is given to said person. If you mean you want it to go up everytime one of the girl equips it, then have an even running in the background that checks if character X has the ring equip and then increase the variable accordingly.
