I'm sure some of you have been searching for a faceset generator or something that can match the RTP. There is none, only an artist can do something that good. So I decided that I could create a faceset out of a charset (I saw it in a game, it looked cool). It can be easily done with an advanced image editor such as Photoshop, Graphics Gale, and GIMP. It can be done in a few easy steps. First, open up your image editor. I am using GIMP. Fill in the transparent parts with a color that wont appear in you image. I am using bright pink. Go to the image tab, and set the grid to 32x32 squares. Then go to the View tab and check of 'Show Grid'. That is the first step. After the grid is configured, you can skip this step later. Using the Rectangle Select tool, select the first whole row of sprites following the gridlines. Now use the Scale tool and change its height to 96. Now they should appear stretched. It should look like this: Now repeat the same with the third row of sprites. !!!! DON'T FORGET THIS STEP !!!!! You will notice that there is a middle row of sprites between our upper and lower facesets. Fix this by moving the lower row of facests up on top of them, so you have 3 4 facesets on top, 3 in the middle, and 2 rows of charsets on the bottom. Using the Rectangle Select tool, select the first whole column of sprites following the gridlines. Now use the Scale tool and change its width to 96. Ha! Now they are completely normal again! It should look like this: Now repeat the same with the third, sixth, and ninth columns of sprites. I could not find this function in GIMP, so I used MS Paint. Go to Attributes on the Image tab. Set it to 256 by 192. There you have it, a perfect faceset. Here is a pic of it finished, and one of it in action. Once I am done making facesets out of the RTP, I will put it up for download, for free! It WILL take a long time, and for custom charsets, you must do it yourself! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS USING MS PAINT, IT IS JUST HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I am giving a link to download the latest version of GIMP, and its free! http://www.google.com/search?q=gimp+cnet&a...lient=firefox-aAlso, I attached a few finished RTP facesets, including the ones in the screen shots.

QUOTE (Dark Gaia @ Nov 7 2008, 07:11 PM) Pretty nice tutorial for the newbies. Personally though, I prefer the chars in the sets to be their normal size, otherwise they're slightly distorted. But, good job either way! These arent distorted, because theyre proportionate with the original size, theyre just blown up 3x. See: The original: 32x32 is proportionate to the face: 96:96 as shown in this proportion: 32 96 --- = --- 32 96 BUT they are bigger than the default, so you could say they look a little bit pixelly, but they look better than ones generated by Face Maker 3.1 or 3.2

This is good you are sharing a face generator, however you are going off topic, this is no place to advertise that kind of stuff, here only goes stuff about this specific tutorial. If you want to share that link, do it in the thread of "useful resources links". verbal warn.

QUOTE (Dark Gaia @ Nov 8 2008, 10:44 PM) Yeah, well, if you are stuck for facesets, converting the chars is a good, easy way to get around it. Combine it with a Face Border script and I must say it does look good. If you mean Woratana's, then I must agree with you. It does look quite good. Here's a link to the script: Woratana's Quick Face Border ScriptQUOTE (stoodyhoo @ Nov 8 2008, 03:32 PM) Erm, just in case you want to use a faceset generator, try this: http://rapidshare.com/files/10400669/Face_Maker_3.1.rar.htmlIt's beautiful! About that, I think its a good peice of software, but its hard to make transparent backgrounds (close to impossible) and they dont match the RTP Facesets.
