Okay I placed a .midi in my BGM Folder named Town Music, it didnt work, should it be called something specific?

Hmm, so what you say is that you placed this type of file in the BGM Folder (Town Music.midi).

To fix it, you can try....

1.) Revoming the space in between Town and Music so its TownMusic
2.) It's possible that there is already a MIDI file called "Town Music" placing this file into the same folder will over write it.
3.) The file type (.midi) doesn't work so it should be (.mid) instead which would make the file look like this (Town Music.mid)

yep it is .mid, ill try removing the space.

Still no success, I get that annoying default song when I start my game
here's where I placed it.

OK the picture helped. Now I can tell you,


Step 1: Go to database.

[Show/Hide] Picture for Step 1

 EX.png ( 210.02K ) Number of downloads: 5

Step 2. Open it and go to "System

Step 3: Now find Where it says "Title Screen" under music and click on the "...". A screen should pop up. (And it should say BGM at the top).

Step 4: Find your music file on the list and click on it, and then click OK

Now next time you play the game on the title screen it should play the music you selected.

Aw, I thought I might finally find out how to loop OGG's. Darn!

Lucky for you RPG Maker VX automactly loop OGG-type files. In fact RPG Maker VX loops ANY TYPE OF FILE! (That only applys to BGM and BGS.)

Nooo no no, silly person! Here, look in the Help file, go to Contents, RPG Maker VX, Resource Manager, and go down to Audio.
For OGG it says:
Files containing compressed Ogg Vorbis data, known for its sound quality and compression rate. Files with a playtime of 3 seconds or more will automatically be streamed. When the values of LOOPSTART and LOOPLENGTH are included in the comments, the music will start repeating at the specified sample position for the specified amount of time.

See, if you listen to certain songs in certain games, you can see that some songs have a little riff before it kicks into the loop music.
Like "kick, kick snare!" -loop music starts-
Or like the midi files included in the RTP for battle music, I think every single one of those has an intro riff before it starts looping.

The help file suggest you can do this with OGG files if you somehow set LOOPSTART and LOOPLENGTH comments.

I've yet to figure out exactly HOW to do this. >< I have good audio editing software, but the Help file is so vague. :<

full[EDIT]: Aha! I have found a program that lets you loop OGG Vorbis! I just found this program and used it and it works OK. HERE IS THE LINK!

I haven't tried the program yet, because I've already manually looped all of my OGG files from start to finish, but I will be sure to use this later!
