Game Information
-Made using RMXP -Install the fonts on your computer in the font folder -if you do not have the RTP download it RMXP RTP it is not included in my game because as you can see the game is huuuge. -If you found a bug please feel free to PM me, if it's a list of them. My beta testers and I have caught all the game crashing bugs, but the smaller ones like passibility or priority, and other things might have flown under our radar. -Yes, yes...it is a biggie. (185MB) However it is easily 7+ hours long (it took me 10hrs to complete every sidequest and get all the items and I know where everything is!) (chapter 1 is only 130mb!)
Story
Estoria, the planet with a mysterious past. Memories of it is erased from time itself. For the few that do remember, they choose to forget its rich history. For the good of the populance, the good of the galaxy, and most importantly the good of countless other worlds. It is unique, the only planet of its kind to ever have existed/ will exist/ exists. For its location is outside of time, space and all dimensions.
Or at least it had been for some time.
Suddenly strange people and beings appeared across its surface, causing fractures to crack and destroy countless realites.
There exists a key to unlocking secrets and memories. One who believes some memories are best left in the shadows. Would you forgive stolen memories if having them meant the planets downfall? Could you still feel true to your deeper self without them? Everyone has secrets, everyone has memories they'd rather forget, but should they still be treasured? Could even those memories affect who you are in the present? Could a shadowed past change the path you may take in the future?

A well thought out and interesting story. I like plots that deal with memory and the past. Your characters are very realistic and obviously also well thought out. Also, I love the artwork, especially Merrik's. Great work on this, it looks like a very interesting game.

@Rusty: Thankies. Please tell me what you think if and when you do.
@GoldenGriffon: Bweehee.. that pic of Merrik is old >.> Ima going to have to update and finish his character soon. Thank you though! I love time travel or memory oriented stories myself. I really think that memories and how we grow or don't grow because of them make up who we are, more than we give 'em credit for.
This is very cool stuff, i havent read any of it, but the screens and art work is right upmy street well, just finished downloading the demo, imnot ona try it tonight but will try it 2morrow, will give you update looks great from here though.

Wow, awesome. Just freak'n awesome. It's nice to see some SciFi games here. Especially ones about time travel. (Which I totally was not planning on doing by the way... >.>) But the characters and some of the settings look a lot more fantasy-ish. It gave me a very "Dragon Riders of Pern" feeling. I'm downloading the Demo now and will post my views on it after I've finished it. Anyway, what I've loved so far is the art (nice av btw ) and the scifi settings (which I already mentioned in you topic in the resource section). The art looks gorgeous. But, I noticed some of them have a different style. Like the Isolde one. I suppose this has to do with when you made it?

@Tonk: Alright I await your feedback ^^
@Ankh; It seems kinda fantasy-ish 'cause it's Scifi-Fantasy. More like Starwars or Farscape or Babylon 5 kinda versus Stargate or Star Trek.
Yes indeed, Isolde's graphic is different and so is Rowen, because this is the first and only game I've been working on so far (for over a year) and of course my skills as an artist has increased. Even now I'm thinking of doing a whole revamp now that my style is more like what you can see on my deviantart page. Alas the curse of an artist is to be never satisfyied with thine own art -_-;
EDIT not to mention I got a new wacom tablet and painter X somewhat recently so I can do much more ^^

Well, I've gotten through I bit of the demo, but I have to sleep now...
Here are somethings I noticed. Maybe be bugs, not sure: - The Holoteles on the main floor appear over the Aqua, even if he's supposed to be in front of them. - After Taelia joins you, her sprite is still there. - If you go in front of the sliding doors and press enter/space again the door opening animation plays again. - The vending machines don't have any choices and just take my money. - Also the vending machines and the battle have some text missing and it doesn't show an indicator on which monster is selected. The Scan button also covers the action selection screen. - The window (or door) Rowen goes out of seems to have the wall behind it, not a window-door-thing. - The bored worker's name sign thing in the dialog in the room on the 2nd floor isn't working properly. - When using the microscope, the Aqua still moves around. - In the medical place, when you talk to the regretful knight, you also read the "don't take potions/herbs" thing. - In the left most room in the inn, turn the lights on doesn't do anything.
I would also suggest that the choices in the dialog some how lop back on themselves if possible, so we don't have to start the conversation all over again if you want to ask another question. You also probably shouldn't put plants on the other side of the door, it kind of messes up the path. And the text in intro and some of the reading should have outlined letters or different colors or something so they stand out more.
Anyway, now that that's out of the way... the demo is really, really cool. The building looks really nice, the elevator and microscope effects are a nice touch. It even has a reference to Speaker for the Dead (sweet)! And the various other references I can't list right now.
I'll finish it tomorrow. Good night!
EDIT: Okay, got a bit further. But I have 2 questions: 1. Once I've bought the holopet, how do I give it to the sick girl? 2. Is it possible to be healed at the hospital, or do you have to go to the inn?

Thank you for playing my game ^^. Thank you even MORE for pointing out those bugs, I'll be fixing them over the weekend and re-doing some of the artwork >.> perhaps adding and refining some things I'm just noticing.
-the vending machines item giving, at the moment is random. I'm half deciding perhaps to do an interactive one with pics and events(design stages right now) or doing a random slot machine type thing.
-The ways of healing in game is by staying at a hotel and sleeping. -The only way a hospital will cure you is by you having the "sick" status added from eating the wrong things/foods and they will remove it for free. Talk to the nurse at front and she'll take care of it.
-if you have the Teddy Bear your inventory and try to talk to her, it should ask you if you want to give it to her.
Ah, okay. I remember reading that somewhere in the first post. Well, now I do anyway. Also, I should probably download that font, huh? (I mean, it's only right under the demo link. Who could miss that? ;>>) That's why I couldn't read some of the text. I think anyway. The game didn't crash, so I'll have to check.
Ah, that's the problem. I bought the dog holopet, not the teddy bear. But, when you check on the girl, she says she doesn't even have a holopet, and then Taelia tells you where to get one. So I bought the item that was called a holopet, the dog thing. The teddy bear doesn't say holopet, so... Anyway, I'm not sure if you want to change any of the dialog to make it clearer. It may just be me being stupid...
I looked and although the bear says "who should I give this to?", you could still think anyone you really like. So I really need to clarify either that the bear is a holopet too or have the girl say she wants a bear specifically or hint that she likes bears.
Okay, got it. I'm going to go play the demo now. I have another question, though. That zip file (rgss102e), is it important for anything? Because I have no idea where to unzip it, and the game seems to be working fine without it.
EDIT: Well, I'm a little stuck now. I assume I need to get into the concert to find Merrik and, according to the bouncer, I need a ticket. Do you think you could give me a hint on how to find it? You don't have to tell me right out, but just a little help would be... er... helpful.
Thanks, that helped. I thought I had checked all the boxes there, but I didn't after all.
So, I finished the demo, and I have to say, it was fun. A few bugs, but nothing game breaking. I love the art it's got a nice semi-realistic look. And the expressions on some of them make the portraits seem more alive than a simple pose. Like Aqua's. It's got a good sort of confused look to it, even though his face is rather expressionless, which ties into his character rather nicely.
Now onto the bugs! - Some of the NPC titles overflow from the name box. Examples are the girl gamer in the arcade, the protectorate guard at the weapon shop, and the "not so innocent pirate" at the concert hall. - I'd suggest having some way to skip the song. I like it well enough, but it's kind of long, and it might get kind of annoying to some. - Are you supposed to be able to walk through the chess pieces at the arcade? - Not so much a bug, and not really all that annoying, but it took me awhile to realize that
the Gargoyle was an undefeatable boss. I mean, I had a sort of feeling it was, just cause of my carefully honed RPG spider senses. I saved before the boss, so I went all out and used all my healing items, then found out that it was, in fact, undefeatable. But if I hadn't saved, that might have been a problem. Probably not all that important, but just something to think about
That's all I've got. I'll probably go through it again to check out if there's anything I missed. But it's really good so far. Nice work.
ok i dont really knoqw whats going on but, iv downloaded iyt and when i try to play it, it crashes, i got through the ytitle screen, then at the menu it gives me a bar but no wighting, then i randomlypica selection and i start at this bar or something, then i try to chat to the guards blocking my way and the game crashes....it sucks cause as soon as i see the first bit it looks totaly diferent and i cant get past it help

@ TonkRogerio: Did you already do this?
QUOTE (Sakura Phoenix @ Aug 5 2008, 07:27 PM)
This is the font I've used, Dauphin it's called. Install this on your computer.Dauphin font (Please add this if you don't want an error to crash the game. Unless you already have it somewhere!)
@Ankh:Thanks for your comments and bringing the following points to my attention ^__^
-Thanks for noticing the name box thing, I'm fixing it. -Yea, your more than likely right about the song being too long. A skip option like I did for the opening credit's is what I'll prob. end up doing. -Chess pieces are holograms, perhaps if I made them more opaque it'd be more obvious. -
The boss is supposed to be unbeatable, unless you find all the jojac pages and give the girl her teddy bear. A NPC will then appear in the weapon shop and give you a lot of weapons. (working on making it more obvious) The trick is to figure out WHO needs WHAT weapon to be equipped to be able to defeat the boss.
Whose memory does the boss coincide with? I'm currently working on making a sneak peak at the end of the credits scroll if the boss gets defeated so you might want to hold off defeating him this round
DARN IT!! it don't work, iv put the text file in the main folder...nithing, in the text folder....nothing ARGHHH ok when i start the game its fine, i can see the intro, i get a message when i try to leave (but no text shows up and i have tried puting the file in both main folder and text folder and testing it with both) but as soon as i talk to a guard...bang, this shows up "script 'advanced message' line 660:rgsserror occurred failed to create bit map"
help me!! i wana play lol
