Hey,

Perhaps you want to have a look at the videotutorial that can be found at http://nestcast.blogspot.com (will be transferd to http://scriptology.co.nr soon).
There you'll find a nice way how you can do it (zoom out (in editor) and screenshot it then).
Though I'll try to get an otherway for you to automatly get a picture of the full scale picture, generated by the game self (so run the script, and the map appears in a new folder in your gamefolder for example).

Hope to do that soon smile.gif Cause I like AutoLight a lot biggrin.gif

Hey there,

Well I don't make battle neither though I can still teach you some things :)...
The way I've learned to script is by reading other scripts for the most part.
I've allways been interested in other peoples work but this time I though I had to try to make something myself...and it worked!!
The most importand thing when you go scripting is (at least in my case) that you want to make something to help an other wich can't script.
You also need to feel the competition that's around in the scripting-community.
Cause, I have to say, if you get pushed to get a sertain request done before an other scripter does, you feel POWERFULL!! :P
So that's an other thing...
You also don't need to be afraid to learn from others or helpfiles.
When I write my scripts, I actualy always have the helpfiles open to look things up I don't know or remember.
Then, you must be calm, cause you need to try the script a lot of times.
When I write a script, I test it after almost every changes.
First I set up the major structure.
Like when I make a window-script or part of a script I start with something like this:
CODE
class Window_Name < Window_Base
def initialize(x,y,width,height)
super(x,y,width,height)
refresh
end

def refresh
self.contents.clear
draw_contents
end

def draw_contents
draw_something(with, some, parameters)
end

def update
refresh if @something != @what_it_should_be
end
end
So that's also very important.
Then, the biggest thing I learned scripting from is TRIAL AND ERROR.
That's the most irritating way to learn something, cause it's more ERROR than TRIAL, but it does the trick realy good.

So that's it how I did it.
Now it's up to you.
Do some requests (if I didn't do it allready :P) and learn from them.

I'm liking it a lot too, pim321. And also I watched the video, lol.
Anyways, bear with me for I have another question.

I'm not very good with eventing or scripting anyways...
I have this map (It's a pretty bare map at the moment, lol):
[Show/Hide] Map Image


I want to make it so that when the player presses the confirm button on one of those events, like the one near the entrance, a torch will light up. But the torch would have to have a time limit for how long it will stay on. Same goes for the other event torches in the room. It's sort of like in Wild ARMs where you light up a torch and it lights a particular area in the room then dies after a certain time.

Anyways, can it be implemented with this script?

Well that's acutaly a realy nice idear smile.gif
It can be done now I think, though it does get pretty complicated when ya wanna do that...so there needs to be an updated/new version of the script.
I'll try to make this after my driving lesson when I get back at home again.

Thanks for this request, I just love my script ^^

Oke so what I'm going to do are the next:
  • Auto-generate mappictures as a creat guide;
  • Fade options;
  • Multiple/Area pictures.

why!?! i almost copied the everything from your demo and in "playtest" works fine... the spot.jpg /png file is, i guess, in the right folder, since i added it as all other pictures...

i just notice that if i not create an encrypted archive wile compressing, the autolight spot thing works fine... BUT i want to encrypt it!


i don't know how, but erasing the script, placing a new one and doing the same for the spot pictures, solved the problem... weird...

yes, since i used the one from the demo, but i also tried with the 3.7 and same problem...
now i have no more problems even if i'm using an older version (still using the one from the demo)

ok, sorry for my english...
anyway, NOW it's all right and i'm using version 3.0, the one from the demo.
the problem was that everything works fine exept when i compress the game with encrypted and rtp files. In this configuration, when i play the game, there is NO spot, but the game works (no message error, simply the spot picture was like completely transparent, see before post for pictures). this prblem occured even with the 3.7 version
i resolved the problem deleting the script and copying a new one (even if it was the same 3.0 version) and doing the same with the spot picture...

What error's do you get with that new one?

PS. Perhaps it doens't work since the gamecompressor doesn't include any other new maps you create in your gamefolder (I think, so no map called AutoLight or something).

Oke I found out that some nasty bug's are still in the script (though I'm npt sure if I've a newer version on my desktop)>
So I'll be do some updates today.
New callscript functions and also some less dull user-input such as fileformat (it's what I forget to changes most of the times).

No, everything is all right know, but i HAD the problem even with the newest version of the script...

i have not use any map called autolight, since i'm only using the Spot feature

Hey there,

Well I don't make battle neither though I can still teach you some things :)...
The way I've learned to script is by reading other scripts for the most part.
I've allways been interested in other peoples work but this time I though I had to try to make something myself...and it worked!!
The most importand thing when you go scripting is (at least in my case) that you want to make something to help an other wich can't script.
You also need to feel the competition that's around in the scripting-community.
Cause, I have to say, if you get pushed to get a sertain request done before an other scripter does, you feel POWERFULL!! :P
So that's an other thing...
You also don't need to be afraid to learn from others or helpfiles.
When I write my scripts, I actualy always have the helpfiles open to look things up I don't know or remember.
Then, you must be calm, cause you need to try the script a lot of times.
When I write a script, I test it after almost every changes.
First I set up the major structure.
Like when I make a window-script or part of a script I start with something like this:
CODE
class Window_Name < Window_Base
def initialize(x,y,width,height)
super(x,y,width,height)
refresh
end

def refresh
self.contents.clear
draw_contents
end

def draw_contents
draw_something(with, some, parameters)
end

def update
refresh if @something != @what_it_should_be
end
end
So that's also very important.
Then, the biggest thing I learned scripting from is TRIAL AND ERROR.
That's the most irritating way to learn something, cause it's more ERROR than TRIAL, but it does the trick realy good.

So that's it how I did it.
Now it's up to you.
Do some requests (if I didn't do it allready :P) and learn from them.

I really LOVED this script,but im with a problem,my map is bigger than 17x13,its 40x40 i've mutiplied the values for 32 and i made that picture 1280x1280,but ingame it goes very wrong,can you tell me why?
