Quick question about parallax backgrounds Options

I noticed that map settings event options are not included in rmvx. I was curious if there was a way to stop my parallax background from moving in a downward motion at a given point in my event. Whether through some event option I don't see or a script, I'd like either one. I'm currently working on an elevator scene that eventually comes to a stop (duh most elevators do ) So I wanted the scrolling background to stop when I tell it to. Can anyone help me?

I'm pretty sure that it stops when the guy stops moving, and moves in relation to the character. But, I usually just forgo them in exchange for more map room, though.
