We have made a lot of changes to the forum recently in particular to the focus and layout.
We have checked the stats and from what we see, the new Production area is a success.

The focus here was "getting down into the nitty gritty" of game making, throw around ideas and concepts and discuss ideas without having to have a game topic first.

So have we gone far enough? is there a section we have omitted that could work??

The writing and art forums again are becoming more popular - again any extra ideas.


The tutorials have been split into separate sections so they are relevant for the subject. Has this helped?


The one change we are unsure about is the RRR highlights- although we are linking to topics to watch we have no way of checking if any extra traffic has been produced.

Would a weekly update in the Announcements be better? a small version of RRR news.


Without the Recruitment section and staff being requested in games- are you getting more interest now you all have to show something for members to get the flavour of your game?

Now good honest feedback is appreciated - this topic is for the forum layout only not for gripes about staff
It is also not worth mentioning the main site as you all know we cannot do anything with that-"sob"



We also need some staff and mods - these people that leave us for real life

Mods needed:
- Scripting forums

I need a scripting god- simple as that- thelaw14 is doing the lot at the moment- check out his posts to get an idea of what we want -or send a message.

I can also use a moderator who can take on resources- this is less moderating but more contribution and organisational....again pm me if you have the expertise.

Events - are you a wiz at these - I need a mod there as well.

Anyone can apply providing they have 100 posts or more.


Staff needed: (not moderator but support roles)
- Scripting forums
- Tutorial forums
- XP Discussion
- 2000/2003 Discussion
- Event Emporium
- Audio

I don't really know how good or bad the new way to get ppl is better then the old ppl, with things always changing its hard to tell. I think it is harder now but thats just me. As far as updates/news I would focus on just the main RRR news with slightly more frequent posts/updates.

As far as new staff/mods go we could use a bit of help, just need to be a bit more careful on who we decide on. No point in giving someone a chance here if they just gonna leave for another site, in fact that really $%^ me off.

I am very careful who I take on as Mods and X-M-O is the same with staff. However we cannot force people to stay here and not be part of other sites.

A vast majority of my code snippets come from here and I wouldn't call myself an active member

Eventing is like the younger brother of Scripting though, so if someone applies for scripting and doesn't get it, you can believe they'll be good at eventing and can take that.

They went off and did real life stuff- they either got jobs, family and other stuff. Night_Runner is leaving too....

Production and Gameplay seem to have picked up, but other areas seem to have died down. There's very little discussion in any of the maker topics, scripts, or tutorials/events these days.

I'm with Lato, things keep changing, so it's hard to keep up, but I do what I can to support the changes. I've created and maintained a decent completed game list, I've started the map trade, but I don't know how well received those areas are. Scripts, tutorials, and resources really need something to draw in attention.

While we lack the staff for it, I do miss the "Official Reviews" area we once had. Writing reviews was my expertise, although it was somewhat difficult doing more than 1 per month. I enjoyed reading them, but they also served as an FYI on games I may otherwise have missed or wasn't sure about playing.
