Yeah, the whole picture took about 6 hours or so if i'm not mistaken >_<;;
And even if i came a long way i still have a long way to go, my stuff still looks like crap if compared to some of the other pictures i see around the web. x_x
My objective is to at least once get one of my pictures to be on the first page on the "Most Popular on the last 24 hours" on DeviantArt, the day i achieve that, i'm a happy man XD
Just something quick i did in about one hour and a half. Oswald from my game project.
Oh and happy New Years, RRR.

That's an awesome goal Nescafe! I had a goal like that until I stopped using/going to DA lol. If you want to start small, while you do DA, try signing up for TheOtaku.com! It's a smaller community, but it still feels amazing to see your picture on the front page of most popular haha. I say give that place try, you can yourself on the front page there in no time!
Your art is just getting better and better! Any artist will continually get better and better, there's always a constant development Wanting to improve is always good, as long as you feel confident and happy with your art, don't discount yourself. Your art looks absolutely wonderful and amazing

Amazing work, Nicsp! I love the colour green, so maybe I'm a little bit biased but still... great job there. Keep it up, and best of luck on your 2011 goals!
Thanks Homu, i did check that Otaku after you mentioned it. It seems to be mostly for fan art though, something i don't really do much DX I'll probably make an account and post any fan arts i eventually do in there.
And thanks XMO, glad you liked it XD Good luck with your goals for you too.
This one took about the same time as the Oswald one. Either i'm getting quicker or i'm just getting lazier and easier to be satisfied with >_<

LOL Nescafe, I haven't posted a single fan art on there If you sign up, lemme know and I will add you to mah list of followers! A lot of people post fan art, but when you post there's a category for "Original anime", which I stick to XD I had made some fanarts of other members OC's, but that was the extent of it. Post your original stuff on there bro! Everyone there is super nice! I made quite a few good friends there!
AND WOW!!!! That is an AWESOME pic!!!! You can tell you put lots of effort into it! How long did you spend on that beauty?! SUCH a good job, bro!

Really? When i went in there to check they only had fanart for display o_o (And some wallpapers.)
And going on to your question, believe it or not, this took pretty much the same time to make as the mage pic (Possibly about half an hour more or so). I was quite surprised myself, lol. Might be because i didn't spend as much time sketching it as i usually do. This time i just went with a very rough sketch and then skipped to the lineart. Usually i do like 2 or so layers of sketches >_<
Edit:
Account made. Search me for Nicsp.
I HAVE COMPLETED YET ANOTHER MEME.
Big image.
New DevID, this one turned out quite well >w<

that is the greatest quote... ever.
I also love the picture, this is serious webcomic standard (and there's a minimal amount of money to be made in that ++ lots of entertainment value) The only thing that bugs me is the shirt, which seems to be INCREDIBLY tight around the neckline. Other than that, I love it. Tis Maginifique Homu's gonna have a field day when she sees this, prepare for capital letters

After reading that my stuff was webcomic standard, i actually standard brainstorming about what i would write a comic about. While still thinking about it i went to play Assasin's Creed: Brotherhood and well. >_<
This will be mostly something i'll be doing for practice (Especially dynamic poses and such, although to be honest i might not even go all the way through with it, depending on how busy i am with school) but here's a little picture i've recently done and posted in DevArt.
Clicky
Here's what i wrote at the DeviantArt page for this picture.
"So yes, as i have said on my journal. I plan on starting up a comic. As you can possibly tell from the picture, this comic will be fan fiction of Assasin's Creed. This is by no means a "serious" project of mine and may get cancelled at any time, i'm using it mostly for practice and to distract myself when i'm not at school or studying. (Which won't be too often this year.)
So, a brief explanation. The character you see here (Whose name i have not yet decided on) is part of a brotherhood of assasins, she was recruited by Ezio Auditore de La Firenze during the Assasin's Creed: Brotherhood timeline and quickly rose up to the rank of Assasin.
One thing that differed her from her brothers was that she suffered from split personality (Which will be diferentiated in the comic by how i draw their irises). One side is gentle, calm and careful (Normal eyes), tries to solve most of her missions through the use of stealth and avoids casualties to the best of her abilities. She still follows the assasins, however, because she thinks that, despite not agreeing with everything they do, she's making the world a better place.
The other personality (Target iris), is a blood driven psychopath who enjoys solving everything with violence and taking pleasure in making any living beings that pass by her suffer the most gruesome and bloody deaths possible, this side is usually contained but tends to burst out especially when annoyed or endangered.
I'm still writing the story, making sub-characters and etc, so if it comes out, it'll be around April or so. She is also likely to have a few design changes as well, not only i certainly intend to design her very own assasin armor, i've also been thinking of making her a redhead...
C&C is welcome and appreciated."

One thing you should definitely work on are your stroke lines. They are very sloppy. Have some confidence; do fuller quicker strokes. Practice drawing line art using your whole arm. I know it sounds silly but it will improve your line art a lot.
Another thing you might want to so is study up on your anatomy. http://odduckoasis.deviantart.com/art/Anat...torial-27484310 there are tons of tutorials online go check them out and try to find some. A lot of your face anatomy is way off. Everything is too high on the face even for anime/manga style.
I would try to stay away from the anime/manga styled art. I know it sounds silly but if you learn some realism and stuff like that and get your face proportions right and stuff like that then you start to stylize certain things. Anime/manga is a style and a lot of the best artists that use this style started from learning basic realism.
What exactly do you mean by saying my stroke lines are sloppy? If you mean the shaky lines around the girl's hood that's because, admitedly, that's like only the sixth time or so i've ever drawn a hood, not too fond of them but i wanted to keep the series original outfit. If you mean the lines for the small pictures behind the girl...Uhm...Yeah. That's more lazyness on my part than anything else, those weren't even sketched or anything i just drew freehand. I originally intended to have several more pictures in there but GIMP crashed and i hadn't saved much so...
My anatomy still needs improvement, i know that and admitted it quite a few times alredy on this forum, i've been praticing and trying to improve, however, it's not really a quick process. Same thing with the shading, i've seen most of these tutorials you have linked me to, i'm training still.
And uhh...I DID learn realism, just because i don't do any doesn't mean i don't know how to, i just prefer drawing manga. I'm not going for some serious career in art or anything, i draw when i feel like it and for fun, sometimes i do requests from friends or something but i don't really take my art too seriously, not that i'd have time to right now anyways, hence why it may come off as sloppy sometimes, i guess.

well its the outline in general. I looks like you are stopping and going instead of doing one long stroke. What I mean by confidence is that you want to do elegant, long strokes. It makes anyone's art 10x better. Are you using a mouse or a tablet. If you are using a mouse this is understandable because a mouse really isn't an adequate drawing tool. If you are using a mouse, maybe you should look into tablets. Bamboo tablets are around 80$ and learning how to use it is rather difficult but it definitely is better than a mouse. Not only that, it comes with photoshop elements.

Im not really super familiar with these parts so I didnt know that. Its good that you practice. Everyone is practicing. Im just saying keep working on it. The best way to learn anatomy is to just do it on paper and pencil. Remember to block out all your shapes and stuff. Im not an expert drawer either (or even a rather decent one) but Im just telling you what I have been told and stuff.~

Im the same as you in being that im not going for a serious art career. But its just something to look into some more. Your manga will improve ten-fold if you practice learning more realism. Thats all im saying.

I actually do have a tablet, not a bamboo one, it's actually a crappy Genius one, it's very slippery and the pen has the bad habit of failing a lot, but it was the only one i could afford. (I live in Brazil so stuff here is a tad more expensive, i've searched a bamboo before, it was around what would be the equivalent to 120$) >_< The stop and go think you mentioned, i actually only did that on that last picture and for the background pictures since i was doing then without sketching. Most of my other pictures before that one were done in a single stroke, check the meme i did inside the quotes, 6 posts before this post.
On another note, here's a few doodles i did during the breaks i have during one class and another.
Pictures are unrelated to each other.

If you blame your tablet you are just excusing yourself for not improving... Or my crappy Genius has a better mood to do drawings than yours.
You should read the suggestions you are getting, the guy above is correct in almost everything.

Ouch. I'm not blaming my tablet, i'm saying it's crappy and annoying at times but i'm not saying my lines look bad because of it. I am trying to improve, i was just saying my tablet annoys me since the whole tablet matter was brought up.
And i am reading the suggestions, i actually know and have alredy been told most of those things, i never said any of them were wrong. I agree with the stuff he said. Just because i'm bringing up stuff instead of simply nodding and thanking it doesn't mean i'm trying to null out what he said.

In all fairness, even I can see that most of Nicsp's lines are single strokes. It's not fair to criticize all of his work, which if you look you can see is constantly improving, after seeing one drawing. The only criticism I agree with is the realism. I think you could really grow if you explore different art styles more, but that's an opinion, not a fact. Keep up the good work, liking the doodles.

So, i recently finally bought myself Paint Tool SAI (Only had the trial version before and the trial ended quite a while ago x_x)
Before anyone comments in this picture i'm about to post, i'd like to make it clear this was mostly a doodle and me playing a bit with SAI's tools, while simultaneously trying out a slightly different design for my comic's main character (Who has a name now, Annita) If you're going to comment to this picture please keep the comments only in regards of her design (Whether you prefer her with blond or red hair, suggestions are also welcome.) But please do not comment on the picture's quality/style/technique, as it was, i repeat, not something i paid too much attention to. Oh, and yes, i did notice i forgot to shade the band in her hair. >_>

For shading you need to have light source(s), The eyes told that there are three light sources but no shades match them consistently. Is a bit frustrating to see how you get the best criticisms around here and you don't take them, I could have loved to be told all that you were told when I was starting a few months ago... but I only had the long road.

I see, sorry for using the wrong term then. And sorry if i make you feel that way. And, no offense, but i have been following all of the criticism i received so far and i am very grateful for all of them. I took a 60 hours intensive course on drawing once, and was told about pretty much the same things becoolioman (Now bacon, lol.) has told me, i have been doing most of my lines in a single stroke, i just didn't do it like that in that one picture before because i got a bit lazy after drawing for 5 hours straight.
I have found and read probably over one hundred tutorials on anatomy and go back to then every once in a while to give it a look and compare to my pictures to see what i'm doing wrong. I have a realist drawings book which i read and practice from every week or so when i'm not busy with exams or homework. That and plus i try to at least make one complete picture, even if i just keep it as a sketch in my notebook every single day ever since i started this thread. So don't come saying to me that you took the long hard road and that i'm just ignoring all the criticism i've gotten, i've been trying hard to improve over the past few years, and i believe in that, whether you do or not.
Anyways, you didn't really answer what i wanted to know by that picture, which do you like best, the blonde one or the redhead one?

I'll agree to an extent, you could be more definite with your light sources, but most people have to be artists themselves to spot when light sources really don't match up. It's something that just takes a little planning to do, as you already have the basics of shading down, you just need to apply them all together.
You definitely need to chill Leongon, don't be so harsh. There's a difference between saying 'You're going this wrong' and giving actual constructive criticism. As it stands you're borderline flaming. We're all friends here, it's a community, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

If you can't read the part where I tell him how to do it, is your problem not mine. Criticism is hard to take, but if you ask for it you should try.
This guy asked for critique, and he has been replyed with LOT of good critique without saying "thank you" a single time, and without applying any of the suggestions... he only respond with excuses.
I'm pissed about how little respect this guy has for those who tryed to help him lately. Whatever, I end here.
