Blessed Eternia - Gaiden (Updated)
Platform- RMVX
Story Twenty-two years before the opening of the story, a terrible war was raged between two immortal kings. Chiran, the king of Shadows and Camalain, the king of diamond. This war raged for many years and it seemed that Chiran would come out the victor as he had somehow obtained the power of Blessed Eternia. This crystal was said to be the source of all magical power in existance and Chiran used it's power to quickly bolster his armies. When all seemed lost a small group of mortal heroes invaded Shaddowval, the capital city of Kulmore and brought down the mighty King of Shadows. It is unknown exactly what happened that day, but one thing that is well known is that Blessed Eternia exploded from the corruption of dark magic, it's pieces scattered around the world.
A small group of unexpected adventurers find themselves seeking the shards of Blessed Eternia while avoiding the suddenly re-emerging armies of Kulmore.

Features Leongon's Skill Tree of Awesome Script, RPG Tankentai Sideview Battle System Script 3.4e Yanfly's Victory Script Yanfly's Core Script upgrade Yanfly's Battle Stats Yanfly's Status Upgrade Yanfly's Performance Script Munkis' Bestiary KGC Steal Script Shanghai's Passive Script And many more listed in the credits...
Download:Updated Demo Download - One thing to keep in mind, I had to separate the audio file from the normal file to allow compression, you will need to move the included audio file into the main folder after pulling everything out, this will prevent any errors you get about the music.
Additional Information Progress The game is still in it's infancy, the story is developing at a nice pace, and quite a bit of the back story and game play get developed in this demo. Game play Time Roughly 5 hours of game play time. Known Errors None, please point out any you find.
Credits Leongon's Skill Tree of Awesome Script, RPG Tankentai Sideview Battle System Script Yanfly's Victory Script KGC Steal Script Shanghai's Passive Script more listed in the actual game credits...
Notes I believe this will be the final demo update until the game itself is finished, but that depends on how long the game ends up being and how long it takes to finish. This update has a major overhaul versus the previous version as well as an additional several hours of game play, this does mean that any previous saves must be started over, but much more content was added to the beginning and should be interesting to play through again. I gladly accept criticism, so please post here or pm me with any changes or likes/dislikes you have.
Just to let everyone know, I'm not really working on this at the moment, it's based on my pathfinder game I am running and the dialogue is based on what my players say. So, as you can guess, everything is moving pretty slow. I doubt I'll have this completed for some time, which is why I started a second project. I am still willing to fix any problems this has, so if you find any, feel free to pm me. If you want to compliment or critique you can feel free to do that here.

Format your thread better. I almost reported it cause I could see if there were screen shots, characters, download and what not. It looked like one giant block of text. Also I agree with said person above me, game does not work.

I formatted according to the format requirements, I'll put in some spoilers so it's a bit cleaner, not sure why it's not loading, i'll take a look at that and upload a fix. Sorry for the trouble.
There is a major delay with the game as I'm having some sever problems, the details can be found on RMVX General topics, I can't link it for some reason, I must be technologically inept today or something....
Sorry for all the trouble, it's been resolved! Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated!

QUOTE (Cleril @ Jan 4 2012, 10:54 PM)
Whenever this game is finished please for the love of my eyes improve your maps! It's just autotiles for Sheogorath's sake!
Could you clarify? Isn't everything autotiles? That's the default RTP? I'm not graphically skilled, so if you can provide an example I can try to improve it.

That's your problem good sir!
Now in that screenshot I used a tileset E to make the edges round. However you'll see that the map (which isn't done) isn't just empty nor is it flat.
Both of your screenshots are devoid of anything but ground, walls, and ceilings. There's no details, that's the problem.
Take a look at this mapping by Adrien, note he's using a different style (not graphics, just methods):
It's kind of like drawing if you've ever done that. Composition is key to making things overall "good" to the eye. Your maps are empty, telling me nothing about the world. From Adrien's map I know the following: Electricity is in the game, people live in that house, the people living in that house are probably rich, and more than one person probably lives there.
Your maps don't tell me anything except that it's a square.

It was brought to my attention that something was wrong with the download, so here is a fixed version, I included a random text file with the world history and information. If you got a corrupt file, sorry for the trouble. I foresee no trouble with this new download.
Edit: Updated Graphics for battles, the oversized sprites looked just wrong. Here is a screenie of the new style. I did not add anything else to the game yet sadly.
This looks a lot better to me, give your opinions on this.

I'm gonna download it and give it a go. I'll make comments when I get the chance.
EDIT: Aight...
Positives:
.characters and story are decently presented. Good job on that.
.plenty of enemy variety and some interesting skills.
.good puzzles. My favorite had to be the one in the beginning where you utilized Lat's light skill to make the area visible. I found that rather creative.
.you named an area after your name; got a chuckle outta me.
.I found the narrator plugs pretty humorous as well.
Negatives:
.combat's a bit slow-paced. I'm sure this is intentional, though.
.near the beginning, where you fight the guards during the invasion, for a couple groups, the events each have their own fight instead of simply one NPC triggering the fight against all the enemies in the group. I think that's rather unnecessary. Change it around if that's not too much trouble.
.spice up the mapping a bit. It's certainly not the worst I've seen, but a handful of the maps are rather... plain-looking. Still okay-ish, at least.
Good stuff so far. Fairly impressed despite some of the flaws. Can't wait till it's done!

Thanks! I'm actually surprised I got so many good points. I've been reworking it quite a bit, mapping has been my weakest point on both of my projects, they are functional but bland in my opinion. I like your advice on the guard bits, I will look into that. As far as the combat goes, it's not supposed to be THAT slow paced, I'll see what I can come up with to spice it up.
Thanks again for checking it out, if you have any more suggestions, feel free to let me know, I'm always open for critique.
Edit: Actually the name is after the area XD, this world has been in the works for about 13 years, this is actually a side story to the main story which is partially written in book form in the writing critique area.
I'm quite at a loss about the ending of the "Sea Kitten" area. There's only one part that I haven't been through (with looking for objects on) and it's blocked by some kind of plant (at least that's what it looks like). I have no idea what that button that counts down 10 minutes does. I thought maybe that would open up that area, but it doesn't. And even though I've found several things about the northern area, the Captain is totally uninterested. Any clues?

The entire area is one large puzzle, if you go to the right and start the timer it opens up an area on the west that sets another timer which opens up an area in the middle which then leads to where you need to go. Hope that helped.

It did give me enough. I hope there aren't many more times when you go to that other party. I find it distracting when you have one group that you've built up and all of a sudden you have to learn about another group that you don't have any control over their makeup.
I've gotten through to the undersea cavern. When you get to the cave at the top you are stopped from exploring it by a crater and a turn. I can't find another entrance and can't get through to where the people are moving about. What am I missing?
