Has anybody else caught wind of this? Perhaps you are all still reeling from the effects... the shock. I believe this means that Disney now also owns Indiana Jones.
Okay, I'm on the fence about this. I mean, I like Disney, and I like what it's become. I've grown up on all their movies and cartoons, and they've done pretty well in recent times with their delving into the fantasy genre over the past decade. At the same time, I don't think anybody could be capable of producing anything worse in SW universe like Phantom Menace (knock on wood), or even the awful Indiana Jones KCS film. But that's not saying much, when you're only direction out of a pile of dung is up, and any studio with half a brain could produce better movies than these.
What irks me a bit is that they're going for a completely original story... never mind that the SW universe is chalk full of novels, let alone the highly acclaimed Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn, which does a great job filling in the pieces of what happens to both the Alliance and the Empire following the events of RotJ, as well as the personal quests of our famed heroes (Luke, Han, and Leia), as they all continue to grow.
So what are your thoughts on this, assuming you already heard about this buyout? And for those that didn't, well.... Surprise!
Eh I just heard about this today, I was amazed, I mean Lucasarts ALREADY has lots of money, so that means that Disney just droped a huge load of money on them. I dont like it. Disney does not need to own EVERYTHING, I used to like there work but one they started raping Final Fantasy and ppl were happy about it that love was gone.
But if ppl dont care about Disney buying them out then I guess they will own the world soon enough, hopefully I will be dead before that happens, this just means there products will be overpriced like most big companies, then again I am a little one sided on the issue cause I hate big companies like this especially big game companies.

well there were another 3 films that were sequels, that Lucas had already written.
Guess he decided he didn't have the energy to make them...so at least this way they get made, and part of the agreement is that Lucas acts as creative consultant on the films.

Star wars needed to be finished? Since when?
Eh, I don't really think much of this, though I think it will definitely affect how their films will be made. The Avengers, while a great movie, felt a little bit light-hearted compared to the other Marvel movies that came before the Disney buy-out.

I've always loved Marvel films, and then when Disney bought them out I had become somewhat hesitant to watch recent Marvel films, however they have all been brilliant, in my perspective. I should think that this will only mean more Star Wars films and shouldn't mean less brilliance. =] If, however, they really do poorly on the stuffs they come out with, then I'll be much less happy about it. =\
