i don't know if i'm in the right place but i want a cave or tunnel type dungeon that's complete black and if i use a torch or something i can see inside. i looked at the auto light script but it's not what i'm looking for. with it you can still see the whole map but i only want to see the lighting. can anyone help me or direct me in the right place. thank you

You can use the event 'tint screen' (set it to parallel process) to make it black, and then theres a couple of tutorials on torches in the tutorial section, but I can't say how useful they are 'cause I haven't tried them myself

theirs actually a script that simulates the old zelda a link to the past light in the cave effect. if u go searching around the script section, the scripter was soljabird.

Auto-Light Tutorial, thats a tutorial to his auto-light script, it explains both versions if u wanna see just the light following the player. foward up to 11 minutes, but i suggest watching the whole thing if u wanna get the whole picture how to do it =o

ok i'm using the autolight script, now how do i make an item like a torch but i want the screen to be black except for the hero until i use the torch or lantern? can that be done with a common script? or do i make it some other way?

if not i can always use an auto event to light it up and set a dialog for it too look right.

try adding the light fx script, i think their is a way to make it glow and shut off n on with a switch. u could use that for ur torches.

not sure what you mean. are you talking about the way he has it set up in his demo.

and one other thing how do you have it set on a timer to go off after a set period of time.

ok i think i figured it out. i create a common event for the torch and use the call script then turn the control switch on. then i make a parallel process on the map i want it to show up on when i use the torch then i use a conditional branch and set the timer for how long i want then i turn off the switch with the call script. is this a good wayto do it or is there a better way?

what i meant was use this as your torch dilemma. it lets u shut off certain types of lights and turn them on with certain switches.
