If I increase an actor or weapon's element resistance to 125%, is that 25% more damage taken, or 25% less damage taken?

Always get confused because 75% could mean 75% of the damage (so 25% more resistance)... but 125% could mean the same thing @_@ 25% more resistance.

Just need a straight answer lol

Anytime you increase resistance against an element, you wind up taking less damage. How much so is really the question, and one I'm not entirely sure of.

VX was simple in that damage was determined by A-F checks:

A = 200% damage taken
B = 150%
C = 100%
D = 50%
E = 0%
F = Absorb

F meant if you were hit with that element you were healed instead of damaged.

With Ace, you can set your own formulas up, and I'm inclined to think the greater your resistance the great damage you can sustain, including the possibility of absorbing the element. However, I don't know if that means your resistance would increase by 125% base when the item is equipped, so if you were 50% resistant, you're not 175% resistant, healing you for 75% of the damage, or if that 125% is added and divided into the base stats, so at 50% plus an additional 125%, that would make your total at 87.5% resistant.

Ace is the same as VX except I don't think there's absorb.

True, with Ace, I think you can write your own resistant percentages, whereas with VX they were fixed by default, depending on the letter you gave.

In 2003, the way it works is that you aren't 125% resistant (which is a paradox, you can't be more than completely resistant to something, being absorptive is something else), but rather you simply change damage percent to negative. Such as -15%.

The other thing you should check out is if you can do an element where most of the numbers aside from the last are negative (couldn't in 2003). Sort of an effect like Sesshomaru's sword in that it heals the living and kills the dead.
