I'm at the point that I'm ready to decide how I'm going to make my battles online. I need help with 39DLL. For more detail I'm sorta needin help as to what "Bytes" I will be sending to the client and server. I know I'll be needing to send all the digimon's stats, and what attacks the players use. After looking at a few tutorials that sounds like quite a bit. Any help out there on RRR for this kind of discussion?

Also, the battle will be turn based, the stats atm are Str, Def , and Spd (Strength, Defense, and Speed). The attacks are set, so you cant customize them. If more detail is needed then Ill give more.

I personally recommend unity if you plan for some sort of online support, I never found Game Maker's online support sufficient.
Plus you can just host the game online and let the servers handle the data, and it's available cross platform.

Game Maker is awesome if your strictly doing nothing BUT 2D but any 3D effect even Mode7(if done perfectly) will lag the game regardless of system spec..

I was using Game Maker for my RPG but I was creating levels that demanded 3D (generally sky and because it's 3D I was able to add more depth to the level) I was able to get it to render..okay with GM but the quality wasn't up to par with my demands.

Well, the game is 2d I wont need a server, and it will only need to be multiplayer for the breeding and the battling of which is turned based....and I think that 39DLL is way better then the mplay function. If you want to see the kind of game im making i can show you a very buggy no where near done demo..

You do realise that Unity can create VERY good 2D games too Mark that are even better than GM. Just to point out XD

Boo is very similar to python and very close to Ruby, it wouldn't take more than a couple days. Even learning python as a first language only took me 24 hrs and after time I became pretty good at it.

Also I would recommend purchasing a 2D kit as Unity by itself is mainly 3D and saves a lot of time, I personally purchased 2D Toolkit and it handles sprites, animations, and tiles as the way I want it to. There's also Uni2D which I heard good things about.

You'll more likely spend more time on learning the new interface than a language.

I would actually if I had like a live teacher (over skype) Like I did when I started GM... I have also worked on this project for quite some time on and off (mostly off though).

what would be the point in changing from something I do know to something that is mostly Alike/similar!. the only problem im having isnt with graphic, speed, or productivity (unless the productivity is on my end not the software)... I just cant for the life od my get 39DLL.
