QUOTE (RuGeaR1277 @ Nov 6 2008, 11:56 PM) it's damn good! =) Remarks like that are what makes making this game worthwhile. It just proves to me that hard work pays off. If I work hard and craft an adventure from my heart, people will enjoy it.

I am downloading this now, and will begin playing it this afternoon. From the screen shots and description, it looks great; I can't wait to try it out.
I'm going to leave this post here to remind me to review it. Be sure to check back on this post at night!

Thanks for changing the font. Honestly, it was the only thing keeping me from playing it. (I have really crappy eyesight.)

I played the first couple of minutes of the demo, and I ran into a gamebreaking bug. I will post it's screen here for you view. First, a minor error when it comes to the face set. I tested the programming of the game when I tried to run Lann out of his house before collecting the money from the chest at the very first control scene. This is nothing big, just pointing this out so it's easier to edit your title in the long run; I know how frustrating it can be to run back through your work and change a million events around. But then, after taking the money and talking with Liara, I ran into a gamebreaking bug. I don't know what this bug means, but it stopped the experience for me. I was just beginning to enjoy it, too. I can't give a fair review since I only played five minutes into the game. So far, everything looks solid. As far as the text goes, the constant pauses seemed nice at first, but now it's wearing thin. Other than that, seems like a formidable production. I look forward to playing more of this title in the future.

The face bug you pointed out I have fixed, and also the other one too. You are playing an old demo which has a game wreaking bug in it which I fixed recently. Please see the first post in the thread and download the new version of the demo which works. As for the constantly pausing text, I'm happy to report that in the full version there will not be any of it. Speaking of updates, here's a screen from the redone intro (which replaces the character creation crap) showcasing the new font as well.

Aw man. That font is even worse. I mean no offense by this, but... is there any chance that you could possibly use a non-stylized font? Anyway, I played a very small portion of the game today (I stopped after leaving the first town) before I had to take care of some stuff. Here's a few notes. I'll have a full review of your demo tomorrow. - I think your game world is pretty interesting so far. It was pretty cool talking to the NPCs and hearing them mention what countries they're from. - Seeing the Masked Man at the inn scared the crap out of me. - I went into the well to try and find the old woman's ring. I got my ass kicked pretty handily and had to restart the game since I didn't save. I probably did something wrong, since I didn't end up talking to that other character in the tavern. Anyway, I thought it was pretty messed up to put this really dangerous dungeon in the first town. I know you put up a message that says "be careful" or something along those lines, but it still didn't specifically warn me of that dungeon's dangers itself (I honestly thought you were talking about examples later on in the game). In my opinion, I don't think you should even allow the player to access this dungeon at all in the beginning, since there seems to be no possible way of beating it (the lizardmen killed both my characters in one hit). Maybe you have it be accessible later? That's about it. I think it's a pretty good game so far and will definitely follow it's progress.

Lol. That dungeon isn't even to be attempted until you're lvl 12. It's there sort of as a running joke to the old 80's RPGs Legionwood emulates in that in them you could just walk into the final dungeon at lvl 2 and die horribly. Just ignore the well mainly for the entirety of the demo. It's only a side quest after all. Perhaps I should add a lvl restriction to it? I just wanted the game to a have a free form feel, and I felt that adding a lvl restriction would take away some of that. It's a deadly dungeon, you shouldn't be there, but you're free to go there.
The world... Yes, I pride myself on my world. I try to imagine the world as an actual planet with actual lives in it. I try not to see the NPCs as NPCs and instead pretend they are people with backstories and lives, and it adds to the immersion.
As for the font... Well, it's getting mixed opionions. I may end up releasing two versions of the game, one with the font and one using Times New Roman or something, or even an option in game to turn it off.
Thanks for the feedback.

The gameplay is good and so is the story (considering I know most of it, I think). The characters are great in my opinion. I especially like Ark.
One thing though. In your original thread, Ark is depicted with one faceset in the character description and another in the menu.
Overall though, very good work.

The Ark face set problem was resolved. I knew you'd like it though Ark, as if you remember, Legionwood is based around a story that you set up.
Canuck, I know some find houses 1 tile high as awkward, but it was a stylistic choice, as I felt that 1, It is proportionate to the character sprites and 2. It emulates the FF 1, 2, 3 and 4 graphical style fairly well, which is what I was aiming for,
