For various reasons it has been a while since we last produced the R3 News, but in true form we have come storming back with this issue.
There have been many changes forum wise over the last few months, from new staff , the look of the forum itself and the name of this newsletter (no more News and Views just plain old R3 News and check out the new logo by Holder- the RRR fairy returns)
We have decided to use this issue to go over everything that is new and sparkly, introduce our new moderators and bring you all up to date with events.
First of all Holder has joined the team as the third Director,a well deserved promotion as he is an asset to the forum. He is specialising in re structuring the layout of the forum itself and has re written the rules for the Creative Commons - It has also given us the opportunity to re evaluate the Director roles within the forum, with each of us taking a specific area as well as working together as a team.Starscream is still doing our technical work ( and the rather smart dividers for this news letter I might add ), and I have taken over staff hiring. All three of us are only a pm away for anything and everything you might want to ask us - within reason!
Here some comments from the man himself!!...drum roll...It's HOLDER

It's now been just over a month since alterations to the Creative Commons has come into play and we hope yous are all enjoying the ease of the new set-up. With this it's now easier to browse and find the type of game you're wanting to taste, try and play. Theory and Design Discussion is once again a great place to research, the Games Under Construction section has some fantastic variation and I'm pleased to see everyone has had no problems with this new structure and layout.
We've since launched new guidelines for submissions to our main page, making it so that there's only those topics within the Long Demos and Complete games making appearances there, remember you need to have a topic within one of these two sections if your game is to be approved with a link to the forum topic on the last line of the description box.
Don't forget that you no longer need to host via Megaupload, RapidShare etc. as you upload right here at RRR, so the annoying problem of links going down will not be a problem for your game.
The Shadow has stepped down as a Global Moderator but is still around the forum as a Gold Member, and Hero Of Hyla has gone off to pastures new.
Which brings us to the new staff who are all well known here, and they have already made a huge difference to the running of the forum. We have asked some of them all to find you some interesting topics to browse through in their specific areas. To save this being a very long read we are using some of the submissions this time and the others will contribute in the next issue.
Taking the forum from the top we have Sparrowsmith who is moderating the General and Serious Discussion Forums.

In General Discussion we have the most Religion based topic to ever hit the shelves without being moved to serious, though it'll probably end up there. If you fancy a more light-hearted discussion (maybe skip ahead a few pages ) on religion, check it out. Seeing some good clean discussion without too much aggravation. On a more silly note, we still want to know Your Theme Tune!, one of the most pointless and yet entertaining threads to narrowly avoid the cess-pool for a long time, grab it while people still give a damn.
Over in Serious Discussion we saw a rise in conspiracy theories recently, but with the smoke blowing over we're seeing the return of some good ol' fashioned moral dilemmas. Think your morals regarding Incest are right? Are two consenting adults who happen to be related really in the wrong? Whatever your opinion, make sure to scoop out this promising thread and also make sure to check out the Legal Sex Trade while your at it, a topic sure to gain some momentum once the ball gets rolling. Let's not forget the age-old topic of Abortion and what really is Equality and what practical uses does it have with controversial issues. And finally, should Creationism be Taught in School? What other potential theories should we teach alongside ID? And what do you think the consequences would be. If you have an informed opinion, then it is more than welcome in these topics.
Next up is Kread-Ex who is covering VX Engine and Script sections...along with the RPG Maker 2000 / 2003 forums and General Game Engines Discussion.
He has done some excellent work on the RGSS2 script list by updating it and putting it into logical order.RGSS2 Master Script List Once again here is a quote from Kread-Ex

Exciting news coming from the Game Engine development world with Construct, a free and open-source engine! Many features are already present like particle engine, dynamic lighting, physics and Python support. Download is available for the latest stable and unstable versions. Construct is probably the most impressive engine in development for now, and the availability of the source code allows programmers to enhance it how they want it.
The new beta version of lastend's Visual RPG Studio, an engine that appears like a very enhanced RPG Maker with features such as templates creation, unlimited data size for various options and LUA scripting. Lastend developers fix bugs very quickly so don't hesitate to test the beta and report any error - they will happily fix them.
Express Game Maker is finally in public beta stage! For those who haven't heard of EGM, it's a C# engine meant to be very user-friendly and visually appealing. But its strength lies in the wide target audience: beginners can use project templates and resource packages, advanced users will be able to meddle with the large database and powerful event editor while the programmers can enhance the open-source engine. Download the beta and see for yourself!
On an earlier development stage, Legacy's Thunderstorm Engine is an ambitious project which aims for 2D and 3D games creation and porting to consoles. It isn't functional right now but you should definitely keep an eye on it. Download the alpha to have a better idea of the potential of this future beast.
And the next new Moderator please...Harryb412 Everyone knows Harry from here on the forum, to in the IRC...He has taken over the Creative Commons and has these links for you to browse through.
Here it is
Full Games: -RRR 2 Day Collaboration Project - http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=45481 -It's a shame that this hasn't got more attention as it is definately an interesting concept, for 2 days only back in febuary 2007 a group of RRR members got together and designed a map each for one project -this is the result.
-Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords - http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=22853 -The popularity of this game can speak for itself, whether you like it or not you cannot argue that it is a solid game and worth checking out. The topic says itself that Legionwood is not particularly revolutionary, nor does it try to stand out from the crowd with new and exciting never-seen-before gameplay features, instead it strives to be the best at what it is -your standard RPG aimed towards casual gameplay.
Long Demos: -Legionwood 2: Revolution In Taltarus - http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=34542 -Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords not enough for you? Well here's its sequel -not finished yet mind you, but if you're a fan of the first Legionwood then this is worth checking out! Legionwood 2 focuses on dungeon crawling and puzzle solving and like its prequel it tries to be the best at what it does rather than average at trying to revolutionize RM games as we know them.
-Aqua'os: Tears of the Ocean - http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=18591 -From my experiences of this game there is a lot of exploration involved, but the sci-fi tilesets and setting is done pretty well. Right now the first two chapters have been released and they are definately worth checking out if not for the game then for the artwork within the thread alone.
-Earthprime: The Dark Lords - http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=45638 -Obvious effort has been put into this thread and it's a shame it hasn't got more attention, with a story expected to be 40-50 hours long this may just be worth keeping an eye on.
--If I have missed any threads you think need mentioning, drop me/Harryb412 a PM and I'll try to include them next time--
Something's returning. . .
We have three new Rookie Mods-darkyoshi has taken over the Game Maker forum where his expertise will be of great help to members.

In the Gaming Lounge forum, we have word of a few new releases drawing closer ever so slowly! First, the current most popular Handheld console is getting a huge upgrade in the form of The Nintendo 3DS! Featuring a huge improvement in graphics and 3D ability, its a must buy for any gamer and missing out on it will easily be betrayal of the highest order for a real Nintendo fan, in the mean time, while saving up some money and writing a future letter of apology to your children since they'll miss out on college, check out some brilliant comparison shots, featuring screens of MGS Snake Eater 3DS and the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake. Check out that beard...
Secondly we have a thread about the new Castlevania : Lord of Shadows, with Hideo Kojima at the wheel. The demo has been released so far and the full game will be coming soon!
Lastly, as an RPG gamer, you've likely been asked, who would win out of a fight between Cloud and Squall? Well, that still wasn't really answered, since Dissidia isn't canon and really is dependant on player skill... Anyway, a little while ago, we had Dissdia! a brilliant fighting game about the heroes and villains from the Final Fantasy franchise coming together to battle it out. Coming soon, the sequel! Dissidia Final Fantasy Duodecim 012. Already shaping up to be a fine looking game, new characters, maps and features are always appreciated! Check out user opinion and some great information!
Here at RRR, we have great minds, and nothing is better than when great minds come together and tell brilliant tales of lands of fantasy and magic, or galaxies of beings that could never be dreamed of! Here at RRR, we have that! Check out some great Role Plays our community has put together, I'll link you to the information threads since its always best to read up on current information to get a basic understanding of how the system we use works.
First of all, The Elemental Wars! Strange rips in space cause monsters and objects to spawn in the Islands of the Elysium Archipelago, however, these objects sometimes are found to be rocks that can be refined into jewels which give great power to their carrier. Featuring its own set of factions, a huge storyline and several elemental powers available for you to use, join in and find out what element you'd choose for yourself!
Its always great to have awards that are a compliment to your ability, here at RRR, the Role Playing forum has its own set of awards. Check them out! If you've been reading along with the Role Plays, please make a vote! Tell us who your favourite two favourite characters from seperate RP's you'd like to see meet! Heck, just tell us your favourite RP here at RRR, it could make a comeback with enough support.
One of the current RP's here at RRR has gone on for three Act's! Based on a popular Manga and Anime, Death Note : The Envy! Take part in this popular game as a Detective trying to track down Kira and stop him or her from killing. More of a game than an actual Roleplay since there is a game master at constant work and even a Kira Account to go with it. Make sure to read the rules before joining in.
Over to our other "Dark" DarkHalo, who is also taking up Reviewing as part of his role.
You know what to do
A full on spriting workshop by literarygoth that covers everything you need to know about making your own game sprites. It comes in four easy to understand lessons ranging from colour theory to template application through to more complex techniques. This has been designed in such a style for the beginner in mind to be able to progress further in a step by step fashion. Highly recommended.
West meets East. A whole wealth of resources from 66.rpg finds light in RRR for the first time. Most not seen before in the west. Most will be for RMXP initially, with a section aimed for VX eventually...yes there are VX ones too !
I'd like to add a nod to script central with this.
QUOTE
Don't forget that Script Central is available as a means to show off scripts and script demos including RGSS1, RGSS2, and Game Maker scripts. It's an easy and convenient way to get your scripts out there so why not contribute?
The RRR magazine returned thanks to Joe and his team, and this was very popular- we are looking forward to the next issue. Here are the statistics for the downloads- very impressive.
It's great to see what the whole team can create, hats off to everyone on this edition

Awesome edition, I love the new layout. It's great to have all the moderators from different sections of the forum comment on what's going on in their neck of the woods. Looking forward to the next edition!
We're looking at about every three weeks, giving each section time to accumulate new topics and such.
