I just glanced at the Site / Forum Feedback and Help and I noticed a question about where did something go.

That's not in context of what I'm about to say but it goes without saying the confusion isn't great.

Scenario:

I post a topic in the wrong place.

Moderation notices and moves it.

Usually the mod will add a post saying that they are moving the topic because it is in the wrong place and they will provide any relevant information. Where its going and why it was the wrong place.

Ok, cool

....erk. Hold on a second. I posted a question. I go back to the forum I remember posting it in and it isn't there... well I'll be stupefied. Ok, I'll click on my userprofile and track it back because I haven't been on in a few days. Found it. Apparently I put it in the wrong place. *blushes*

Decency!

If a mod moves a newly started topic because it is in the wrong place they should notify the poster by pm with an all mod default message.

Something like:

Hello (username),

Your topic at http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/whatev...inthewrongplace was relocated to the Category/Forum/Subforum.

If you have any questions as to why your topic was moved please review the moderation judgment in the topic.

Thank you!

-modname

It takes less time than moving the forum does. And I'm sure (haven't seen the client side) there would be some feature you could create in the forum function that notifies a topic starter that their topic was moved. This would be an autonomous utility that would make mod PM unnecessary but resolve this issue.

There are no bad mods, but a good mod would notify a member if they were being effected. I don't mean to tell mods what to do, I'm just suggesting a new way to handle the users and let them know that you're there not as police, but that you care.

Wow, I did it again. Addressing issues I find relevant and I haven't even gone back into the forum for deving.

Lets build a stronger community people.

There is a reply from the moderator - and that is why the link was left - click on the last post and it takes you to the new location and the Moderator post that says why the topic was moved.

A polite reply at that -

As far as getting the forum to send auto messages - well they are not as personal as a tailor made comment offering advice, plus we are not able to access or activate any additional functions on the forum as it is owned by ientry,

Oh yes, ientry strikes again. It would be a useful tool. but alas, I am in the world of the dev. I can't help organizing things when I'm working on a new code. I believe my sock drawer needs some attention...

I think some time back I posted a topic in what I truly believed to be the proper forum and a moderator moved it. I attempted to resolve my grievance by contacting said moderator but received no reply. I'll have to look it up in my outbox to see what had happened.

Let me know by pm the name of the moderator- pm's should never be ignored- that is rude.

I don't know about that. Sometimes you get a PM like this and it's pretty easy to ignore...

Lolz. I agree. Its just kinda depressing when you feel your topic fit the criteria for the forum and it was moved. And when you seek to resolve the issue with the other party you get no answer. Very depressing.

As kaz mentioned, ignoring PMs should never happen. If you feel there is a problem, or if someone is taking too long (more than a couple of days) to respond, then you should forward your PM to a Director and make sure they are aware of the situation.
We do our best to answer every PM (as often as we are able), but sometimes we are gone for a couple of days so you should always be patient with PMs (but should also always receive a response). =]
