INTRODUCTION
This thread's purpose is to help boost my motivation, by helping my creativity. Got a favorite story? Tell me! Know which one intrigues you, but could use work? Tell me that too! Like my character design/backgrounds or just the story in general? You know the drill. XD

One last thing. Tell me how I should present a particular story. Like as a game, book, graphic novel, etc.

Basically, just help me out. ^^;

STORY

A judge, known only for his power, begins an expedition in the seas. Comette - a young noble - mourns for her fiance who never showed up on at their wedding. When her parents find her new future husband, she flees from home. A clue leading her to her fiance, causes Comette to go on a search for him.

First story and I have no interest. I have no desire for pirates, cliche marriage/romance stuff, etc.

Second story could be very interesting to me if it was focused on the psychology of each of the main characters and while you could have a cliche romance between them, I'd prefer to see how you would write a story without romance as an option in this scenario.

The third "story" is just a setup for a story. You're just telling me things that the player would know in about 5 seconds as of starting the game. That's not enough to tell you anything useful.

In the fourth I'm playing as a psychotic nutcase? While that's perfectly fine, it's ultimately one dimensional if we're starting the game from the point of her going after her sister. If you had the game include everything before that and made the girl multidimensional it might work.

Five is also a setup for a story, not an actual story to provide feedback on.

You wrote up the sixth story description rather oddly and once again it's just a story setup, not a story. Grammar time:

"The year is 2076, and nuclear explosions have expanded across all of America; (hyphens are used to connect words, semicolons connect sentences that rely on each other) mutating animals and making humans insane, even superhuman like This is a run on sentence. Those (Who the hell are "those"? Are they human still? Or are they other creatures? that were hidden away in shelters Hidden how? Are they being imprisoned or what? Also, no comma needed. try to live a normal life as best as they can inside cities surrounded by large walls."

The story itself is drastically dull. Future time period with people being oppressed in their way of life. No interest, too cliche.

Number seven is again a setup, not a story. And for the love of my eyes is it so very contrived. Gods are such dull creatures when put on pedestals, if you're going to have any gods in your games at least make them like they are in their mythical legends. Greek and Roman gods were practically pricks, the whole lot of em.

Thanks for you input - but I wanted to let you know, only Ghost Shards is a game. LOL.

The rest are ideas for stories. Comics OR games. XD

But what you said, was actually very helpful. Most of them are barebones, but if one is intriguing maybe I can expand it? Or get help expanding it. But I'd like to know if what I have so far is decent enough to start something.

Though, since my fiance and I writing them, romance might not be able to be avoidable. I don't know, though. /shrug

EDIT:

Though, you forgot to mention my dull character design of my female heroines. Lols.

Ah, well, go figure. I only know how to write for poetry, prose, and video games.

Only number two is a surefire green light to me. The rest are either setups or completely crap (in my opinion, it's just subject matter I have no interest in).

The romance thing is a weak excuse to me. Do you only discuss romance with said fiance? If not then I don't see how that is a valid reason for forced romance stories.

Isn't calling them dull yourself answering your question as to why I didn't mention them? wink.gif

Well, it's just that we make two characters that we like, and we enjoy putting them together. It's quite simple, actually. For example, all those female characters? They are what I came up. He comes up with the males. And since their our characters, we usually put them together. But we try not to make soooo... I don't know... Forced?

For example. In memoirs of Valena, his character: Noko is married to Merri - a character I did not create. It was originally Corinne who was my character, but I told him it was too cliche so we changed it. There won't ALWAYS be romance, but I wouldn't leave it out either. Some people like romance. I actually hate romance in stories, because it's too cheesy for me - but if it's done right, I won't mind. /shrug

Well, couldn't tell me who or what you like and help improve what you didn't like? I'm trying to raise my creativity here - which boosts my motivation for doing what I love doing.

Thanks for replying.

Here's something for you to chew on:

All of your drawings, visually, they're too perfect. They're all too pretty to be anything but dull. Here, go ahead and look at one of my drawings:

http://cleril.deviantart.com/#/d4rmoqc

None of your drawings tell me any of the characters demeanor, or perhaps none of them tell me anything about their story you associate them with.

Ery Montrose doesn't look angry, stuck up at most. The drawing might as well be called "Generic woman any man would like to have relations with X." All of them are very beautiful, but beautiful is not what makes good characters. They need flaws, physical, and mental. None of your drawings have flaws, therefore, they are uninteresting, dull as you put it.

My drawing has flaws, the mouth is missing, the ears are probably too big, and the nose isn't quite dimensional. The only absolute positive in my drawing is the sculpted eyes that truly tell you that the figure is screaming. Note that it's shitty image quality so you might not be able to get the full impact.

Let me show an example of flawed drawing that isn't my own: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/t...-The_Scream.jpg

The picture is very agitated, distorted, and not at all naturalistic. The figures in the background are practically scenery, and the main characters pose is probably impossible to perform; at least very uncomfortable. It's these inconsistences, these flaws, that make that picture so very, very captivating.

None, absolutely none of your drawings seen here are in anyway interesting or memorable. Like I said, "Generic woman any man would like to have relations with X."

Your homework assignment is to draw something flawed. Anything, just give it some reasons for existing. None of your other drawings show me a reason for them to exist, they're dull.

And remember to laugh when you do it. Or scream, whatever floats your boat.
