Downloaded it with no problem and it seems to be working so far (just went to the opening screen). If you can find a way to make sprinting work you will be hailed as a god! I've tried it in several games and always within seconds it makes me just be able to go in one direction until I'm blocked. Gave up on sprinting LONG ago. Also, don't know why I didn't receive a notice of the update as I'm supposed to get an email when the section is updated....

When I went back in, it wouldn't recognize a game in progress (the load option was dark) and I could only start over. Any thoughts on this? Certainly this isn't something that would have gone unnoticed in earlier editions...

I had sprinting working, but it involved remapping the keys. It's not hard to manage if you use events. All it does is run a Parallel process (easiest through common events), and checks if a key is being pressed via a Condition tree. Then change the characters movement speed to something higher. If key is not being pressed, have the default movement speed within the "else" section of the tree.
The problem I'm having is I've got other functions. I can't remove jumping, as it's needed, and I can't remove the Quest or town Warping menu. (though putting Sprint on Q or W seems stupid, seeing how far off it is from your hand placement. it's just not ergonomical). If the stuid engine would actually work properly with the keys mapped to Shift and A, then sprinting would be fine and there'd be no issues. So I just have to work another way around. Even if that involve limiting sprinting to Dungeons only, and letting it take the place of the Town Warp-exiting key since it can't be used in dungeons.

As for your save file problem. I repeated the exact process you did, did multiple saves in different locales and save spaces, and each time it successfully created a save file, and loaded upon re-entering, including after restarting my computer. So I have no explanation or knowledge for why this is occurring. (and this was tested with the version downloaded right off Mediafire, not from the engine)
I plan on uploading the next stage in the Beta releases later tonight. For whatever reason it's not properly saving games, maybe it'll fix itself?
As for being only one save option, there are up to four save files. Can you screenshot for me what your save menu looks like and e-mail to me? As there shouldn't only be one option, and the save menu has not been altered from the default engine.

An update, but not a Beta update. The next Open Beta stage isn't getting released for a while, at least not until I figure out Tankentai to its fullest and finish recreating the database.

Instead, I thought I'd share a little bit of concept art (despite it looking a tad dodgy), because it's been a while since any art has gone up.

This is a potential concept for Hythenia's costume. Hythenia is quite an important character in Tales of Thyilos, in act for those who didn't skip the main story I've gotten up, you'll already know just how important she actually is in regards tot eh story.
This art is pretty rough, but I'm hoping it'll help translate the idea to the character artist so he can properly design Hythenia in her ceremonial garments.

Update notice: Check the topic page for details on what is now the final Beta Release. There wont be any more Beta's now as the full demo goes into work over the next three months. However, when enough "bugs" are fixed from the current beta, I may re-upload a patched version that works more smoothly, but it wont have any major features.

Over the following 3 months, the game will transform into a more custom tailored project, and the Thyilosian Lore book will also be a valuable asset at your side when playing the game, as it will not only give you a broader scale look into the universe of Thyilos, but it also comes equipped with a Bestiary, allowing you to get a heads up on some of the more resilient opponents.

So without further rambling, I leave those of you willing to download the new Beta and play it in what I hope will be an enjoyable experience.

We are back!! biggrin.gif

After an excruciatingly long 3 months of having no computer, I'm now able to return back to my regular schedule and workflow! Back when my machine died, I'd hoped to have been back within little over a month, but this was unfortunately not so as other personal items that needed financial attention came to be; and getting a new computer had to be pushed back each time.

But, I am back now, and can start pestering my team-mates once more to help me take care of the game development! In the meant-time, the LONG overdue 6.2 Beta is finally done. Remember me mentioning this fella just over 3 months ago? The release that was meant to correct some bugs in 6.1 and set a temporary demo-base until enough of the game had been completed to release a proper demo? The one meant to go out the night after my machine died on me?
Well it's done, albeit, a few days later than I aimed for when I got my computer just last week. The current beta has fixes for all the found errors in 6.1, and a couple little issues I found myself, as well as a large tweak to all skills.

The effectiveness of a skill now factors in other stats now, rather than the basic Attack Force or Magic Force for spells.
Bruce also has some skills now, so he's not just there to take hits anymore and carry potions.

Most the enemies available now will be able to use some skills too, though I haven't had much time to thoroughly test them. But be warned that they could dish-out some serious pain out of no-where, and I'd advise having some potions handy. Who needs better weapons and armour anyway?

The still work fine. To keep my pages short and tidy, I used a custom icon to link to images. >> << if you can't see the icon inside those arrows, then it doesn't seem to like phones.
