Ouya is an open console which means anyone can develop for it, the pre-order hand assembled ouya's cost around $800 but the off the factory line ouya's will cost $99 and I'm betting the SDK will be available day 1.

My only wish is that it will at least have a USB port so that arcade sticks or 6 button controllers can be used for use with the development in a Fighting Game.

I'm excited actually going to buy one of their dev kits at the end of the month.

All I need to quote is the Kickstarter page.

Great games come from great developers.

Developers can wave farewell to the roadblocks of bringing a console game to market. Anyone can make a game: every OUYA console is a dev kit. No need to purchase a license or an expensive SDK. It's built on Android, so developers already know how it works.

That doesn't mean OUYA is an Android port. You can create the next big title in your bedroom – just like the good old days! Who needs pants!?

OUYA could change AAA game development, too. Forget about licensing fees, retail fees, and publishing fees.

There is no SDK, the console is the devkit as It's built on android. I've been watching this since day 1, it's a remarkable console and I'm planning on developing on it when I get my hands on it. This is going to open up a whole new world of possibilities for myself and other developers.

Just so people know, you can take a look at this project here . I recommend you at least take a look, its worth it.

Hmm I'm sure this isnt the Ouya thread I spied before.
Nonetheless, http://kotaku.com/ouya/

The responses at the bottom of the page are pretty negative, but then I suppose they are more fixed on the gamer perspective than the developer's. I also think its potential of encouraging more developers is being overlooked; I didn't want to ride a bike 'til I owned one.
