Hey folks,

Not 100% sure if this topic goes here, but i'm having an issue with importing mp3 audio files into RMXP. It seems that some mp3s work, and others for no seeming reason don't. I've compared their file sizes, encoders, sample rates, etc, and even two songs with almost identical properties won't both work. I already run the program in XP compatible mode and as administrator, and also just on the default mode which would be Windows 7. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

PS. I haven't tried importing another file type of the same song to see if it would work, because the hassle of having to convert all of my mp3s outweighs the benefits of using them. I'm also curious why this problem exists at all. Thanks!

EDIT: Here's an example of some songs to see if maybe you can spot a reason that I couldn't! http://i.imgur.com/d26hJ.png

EDIT2: I should elaborate on how they don't work, sorry! They successfully import into the game just like every other mp3, but when I click to preview them or play them, nothing happens. When in play testing, as in running the game, no audio plays when an mp3 that isn't working is selected for an area. There's no freezing or anything like that. Double Thanks!

EDIT3: Well... even converting them to mp3 seems to fix them, so it must be an encoder, right? If anyone wants to take a stab at this, feel free, but for now, i'll just tediously convert all of my mp3s.... back to mp3s....... mmm.

Good old RMXP has some problems with some format of MP3, so there are no other way to act than to convert them (the one which don't work) into .ogg files or to another .mp3 format. It's strange enough, but I've experienced it too (I couldn't play a Symphony X's song on my project for the very same reason...)

You should probably convert them over to .ogg using Audacity. It saves a lot of memory in the game folder, and if you are using an OST, also stops people from wanting them ;D they're easier to encrypt with certain encryption scripts, like the ones from Blizzard.
If you need any help with that let me know x)

RMXP, through my experience, works best with MIDI and OGG, but the only problems I've ever had with mp3 is the fact that it has to load before the map does, so there's some lag time. So I would suggest, highly, using OGG wink.gif
