QUOTE (X-M-O @ Jul 8 2010, 06:58 PM) *
"A picture is worth a thousand words", or so the quote goes. However, you've managed to sum up the "picture/sculpture" in a mere 105 words; fantastic. =]

(You are a very talented sculptor. Have you created others that are accompanied by poem?)

Actually this was the first poem I've ever done a sculpture to accompany it. I've had creative flurries before where I've done several things - paintings, sketches, poems etc - but usually I don't finish them but Digital Princcess/Daddy's Girl was one that didn't stop, and wouldn't let me stop until I had completely satisfied it. I have a painting on the go currently -glaring at me from my easel, and an idea for another sculpture, I just need to find the appropriate type of clay/ceramic to use. A couple of the pictures for Digital Princess seem to have gotten lost once I added that post so I'll re add them here. In case you were wondering, yes that's a Barbie and I made her outfit from tinfoil and then painted it xD

It is creative. I just realised that those are soda can tops. =]

I'd love to see a painting that matches the poem - it could be something that eventually you could turn into an album.

Sneak in one last poem before I leave happy.gif

Frustration

Frustration

Written 2004

Twisting my words
You missunderstand;
Winding them into a tight knot.
How is it that you can't grasp
What I'm saying?
Am I speaking jibberish?
Somewhere my true meaning
Was lost in translation.
Dictating my feelings,
And putting words in my mouth.
You assume too much.
Speaking my mind never works;
Me: I'm hard to understand.
Myself: is complicated.
And I: can't figure out where I'm going.
Flapping about like a mother Hen
Squawking in my ears,
Holding a safety net
To catch me when I fall.
Distracting, irritating, confusing -
Embarassing.
Why can't you just leave me alone?
One independant thought,
The light through the fog
Dissolving the shadows
Which surround me.
Tethered to a short leash
Gripped in an iron chokehold;
Please just let me go.

- Jade Dye

I can relate to Frustration quite well; at least in my recent past.
It is well said, and I wish I could go back in time and use it on a few people. =]

Take care and return safely!

Home safely! Had a wonderful weekend, and have a hilarious boating mishap story. Annnnnd back to the books and work. Bah. So here's one of my angriest poems. Yes it was directed at a specific person, technically this one goes hand in hand with Daddy's Girl as this is the 'second part' of that poem.

Blind

Blind

Written 08/18/2009

Wanting that which
You can't have.
Take your words
Like daggers,
And drive them deep
Into the hearts
Of those you called friends;
Simple jealousy.
Was it worth the pain?
Was it good for you?
The bandaid
On a fatal wound.
Pretend it isn't there.
Though it screams
In your deaf ears.
Vague indifference
For the suffering you caused.
Walk away.
Turn your back.
What you don't see,
Can't hurt you;
Or so you think.

Blind works well as a "part two" to Daddy's Girl. You have a very clear way of sending your message through poetry, and I can feel the emotions that you - as the author - felt upon writing this piece. It's brilliant as ever. =]

I'm glad to see that you've returned safely; I'd love to hear about the boat story some time. =]

Awesome poems guys! My poem is actually a few lyrics I wrote that I shall transform into poetry format:

Truth and Understanding

May the next generation become robust
No trusting the undertaking that wants to take us

Not mistaken when I say we are aching for a change
Not even a piece of change can be maintained

Because of the corporate plans to seize the land
We must intervene and cease from being the same

Shall we decrease the pain, but increase the reign
Shall we refrain from being falsely blamed

For the issues our country is going through today
The serpent: Ugly, yet the controls are flowing through his veins

Controlling the brains of the people, making us go insane
Our personal space being shot by his perfect aim

Some look in disdain, some are praising his name
The masonic seal, curse its name in vain

Truth...and Understanding...

Welcome Spirit Master! And thank you for your comments. So far this thread has been only poems written by myself, but I'm open and glad to receive and share poems from others! That being said, I really liked how you worded yours. Very visual. Great piece!

Stained

Stained

Written 08/05/2009

My mind races at a mile a minute
There's so much that I want to say,
That I need to say.
Why can't I just say what I'm thinking
As I think of it?
When the words do come,
They aren't what I meant.
Give me paper,
And I'll write for hours.
Give me a computer,
And I'll type an entire book.
Face to face, the words aren't there.
What is it I'm looking for?
I've left a trail of broken hearts
And confusion in my wake.
Those that truly loved me
Were pushed away.
Those that I wanted to love me,
Only loved themselves.
Still young, but caught in purgatory.
Wanting to move forward
Yet I'm being held back,
Or am I just holding myself back?
Life deals the better hands
To those around me.
Maybe I'm destined to sit behind
And watch as others
Chase their dreams,
While mine burn before my eyes.

I thoroughly love Stained! ^_____^

It's another piece about expression, except this type of expression is verbal and the lack of ability to express something verbally that is being thought. It also moves further into the zone of dreams and how some people get ahead in life because of sheer random chance, where others are behind for no apparent reason. Feelings of "is it just me?" or "what am I doing wrong?" always happen in these cases, and it helps me to understand the feelings that were put into the piece. Remarkable really. =]

This next poem was inspired by a friend and the crap they were experiencing at the time, but it also reflects how I felt at the time and felt all through high school. So it was both personal to myself and her. Personally one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!

Divided

Divided

Written 2007

Always on the outside
Looking in.
Pounding on this invisible wall
That divides me from them,
I long for just one touch.
The knowledge of power
That they weild so carelessly
Like a child with a rattle.

My compassionate nature
Seems to be my undoing.
I bend and twist for those
'Friends'
'Family'
That leave a bitter taste.
Choking on the dust
Left behind in their wake.
Just an old shoe
Overused and left abandoned.

My lips have been sewn
Despite the silent screams
That echo in my mind.
At every turn
I'm cast aside.
Why is it I can't find the one,
Who'll listen to me as I listen
To them?

Self hatred grows
As a weed in fertile soil
Spreading and devouring
Searing in my soul
The frustration mounts
Gaining speed.
When will this end?

Smash the mirror that laughs
Take the glass and slash
Rip and tear
At these veins.
Let the blood spill.

- Jade Dye

This is exactly what I've wanted to say to several people in my life... I'm glad someone else is able to understand those feelings.
Thanks for sharing that one. =]

Nother angry poem. Likely going to have a couple of these in a row.

Artist

Artist

July 22, 2009

Beautiful fraud.
Behind that porcelain mask,
Pretending to be real
Despite the deepening cracks,
That expose the inner void.
Fire Demon, raging to get out.

Narcissistic fool.
The world doesn't revolve
Around your inflated ego.

Aggrivating cock-tease.
Your mouth will lead
To your own folly;
Fall from grace.

Talentless poser.
Searching for the voice
That speaks thy mind,
But delivers a cacophony
Of misguided ideas,
Led astray.

This is actually an inspirational piece; though it is also in an angry tone.
Hmm... Yes, I think this can be something that I could easily write a story about. =]

Kudos again! ^^

Angry poems galore! Yes directed at an ex friend, but better to vent on paper rather than punch them xD

Little Miss

Little Miss

Written 08/11/2009

Why do I keep you in my life?
Conceited, filthy wretch.
Always about you,
What you want,
What you do,
What you need,
What about anyone else?
A computer game
Controls your life.
Hours pass, turning into days,
Then weeks into months.
Only getting up to piss,
Grab something to eat,
Or drag your ass to bed.
Only showering when you
Finally, can't stand
You own stench.
Must everything
Be delivered to you?
It's easy to critisize
Everyone but yourself.
Little Miss perfect.
You do no wrong.
Time will prove,
Just how wrong you are.

Violence is better written than said, and better said than acted upon. =]

Sadly, but truly, Little Miss applies directly to a close relative of mine... =/
It's a well-prepared piece; very nice.

Wow, I found an odd piece the other day. This one stretches back almost ten years ago xD
I was going through a hard time both in school and personal life, and then the weirdest thing happened. I was taking notes in class one day and a friend asked if she could see them to make sure she had gotten all the information, but when she looked at them she said "Dude, what the fuck!" - I looked at my notes and I had written everything backwards.
Later that night I wrote this poem, it reads from right to left.

This is a curious example of questioning existence and purpose; I really like it. =]
The idea of humans having no purpose and being a plague on the planet has been explored quite well, however it's not something that is talked about very much in terms of art or, more specifically, poetry. It was good to write, and I think it's cool to have it written in the "sdrawkcab" (backwards) style that you have it written in. =]

(A couple mistakes though; power should be "rewop" instead of "rewpo" and squabbling should be "gnilbbauqs" instead of "gnilbbawcs".)

Motion Sickness

Motion Sickness

Written 2005

The world is spinning
Never stopping
Round and round.
Like the paddle
and the ball
Back and forth.
Back and forth.
I just get ahead
And then I'm yanked back.
The noose tightens
The guillotine drops.

Busting my butt
Day in
And day out.
My body aches
Mind explodes
Is it all for nothing?

Chest tightens
I can't breathe
Everyday
The same
Over and over
Never ending
Twisting
Spinning
Jumping
Bending
Gymnastics
In the office
Yet I'm always
Somehow
Behind.

- Jade Dye
