What video types will 2003 accept?, Trying to add in my first movie Options

Ok First let me say that I have adobe media encoder which lets me change the file type of the movies I make. I made a movie in Imovie on my mac it was a M4V type and then I changed it to a MPG type cause 2003 said it took AVI and MPG types, it allowed me to import the movie but when it went to run is said there was no support for it. So what types of file do you guys know that works?

Try changing it to AVI as I used to have no problems with AVI, I think there are different types of MPG but can't be certain

AvI is like the ONE file type it wount let me change it to Do you know of another edit program that will make it into a AVI?
