Kingdom, XP Options

Alright I'm here! A couple things: Everyone names their General "Leo". Try something else! Another: Too much default Xp stuff. Get new tilesets. NOW. Give the player more freedom, like Darrunus said, more FREEDOM! Let them roam around looking, instead of pointing it out to them, know what I mean?

Yeah, not enough story. Try something like this:(You can use it if you like it)

As dawn rises from the eastern sun, the Coalition Army stirs. They leave the barracks, dressed and ready for battle. On the western end, a young officer named Havoc struggles with his armor. This will be his first battle commanding his troops, and his nerves are on end. He wishes only for the safety of his friend Julia.
Several hours later, steel crashes against steel, and the plains are stained in a bloody crescendo. Red meets green, and a river of blood flows across the dry grass. Soldiers are falling left and right, and no-one can determine the victor. A surge of fresh soldiers bursts in from the east, just as Havoc thinks he's won. His troops are caught unaware, and the battle turns to slaughter.
Havoc reviews the final minutes of combat in his head, again and again. He must learn to be stronger, for himself, for Julia, for his Kingdom. If he does not, the Coalitition may rule them all....

And then for charachters try something like this:(Again you can use it if you like)

Havoc: (Insert face graphic)

Age: ?
Weapon of choice: Sword?
Class: Officer?
A commanding officer in the imperial army. He is young and inexperienced, and, fearing his enemies would take advantage of this, he puts on a high-and-mighty stature and personality. Deep down, he fights only for his friends, not afraid to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect them.

That's not bad suggestions, but I believe he's already thought out Havoc fairly well, he just needs some back story for him and maybe a tad bit more personality in his dialogue and he'd be good to go. I like your style though Hawk, keep it up!

also I just wanted to post a couple screen shots of the maps I'm doing for Kingdom, just a bit of helping out really.

Oh your the mapper! I'm the second writer! (Well, i guess that was obvious ) I know he's thought out Havoc, I meant more like use it to model his char bios off. The story thingee he can mess with, i'm never gonna use it again. We have to work together on this, I don't mean it offensively, but Lato...doesn't look as if he's had alot of experience, if you catch the drift. We have to help him out, and it's good practice for us as well. I like your maps, the design is pretty, elegant, yet detached in sense that it still remains a dungeon, if you undertsand that at all.

If were gonna get attention, we have to ditch the RTP stuff, but I dont know of any good non RTP material.... Hmm. I wonder if I could convert all my 2003 resources to be XP compatible. I've done it for charsets, it must be possible for chipsets too....

if you can set me up with some non RTP tilesets then I can make you some very pretty maps. I dislike the RTP but I'm no artist so I'm fail at designing my own tilesets.

Hmm frist of all i have exp in XP, its all ive been doing in my free time for the last year, 2nd ive done more in 4 1/2 years of infantry life than most of you people have done in your whole lives, my char are already thought out, my story is already done, its the other things i got a team togather to do, maps, inventorys and some extra story. If the people working for me have lots of exp doing this that i do not then i wait for there work...., darrus have done great work for me and Kingdom will be great because it it based on many real events, which is what all other games lack. As of now the team is me and darrus, with alot of part time people, which have given no work yet...this goes to everyone on this site, dont try and tell me what i know and dont know cause ive been there and done that and have more than a few scars to prove it

Theres a difference between military experience and gaming experience, I was referring to the latter. I don't have any beef against the military, but it appears I was misunderstood. And furthermore, if you have that much experience, why does your game have only potential? You CERTAINLY have that, but you seem to have trouble..... moving that potiential from just that to something that will be remembered. And the fact that Kingdom is based on real events ADDS to the potential, but unless it's portrayed well, it remains potential, with maybe a hidden message. Learn to communicate your ideas better. That's my final input. And finally dude, im too young to join the army even if I wanted to. I've got a good 4 years still.

By the way, it's called contsructive critiscim for a reason. And by the way, how can someone work on something if you havent told them what you want? Lack of communitcation, if you wanted me to contribute something, tell me what you wanted. And by the way, Darrenus, I found a couple chipset templates that I'm building on. When i've finsihed them i'll send them to you.

Im always working on kindom so until its complete there is really no need to say much at all, the only thing i care about is gettiing a good team togather to make Kingdom great.

The reason people post their games is for critism. It's what makes us better, learning from our peers. Unless you posted Kingdom here to show off, you wanted to hear critism, right? All i can say is, tell what you need help on and I can help, like Darrenus asked me to find some good non RTP tilesets. Until you ask for something, we can't help you. At least, writers/spriters can't. Okay? I'm still here to help if you need it on something.

By the way, you made a good choice making Kingdom on XP, it's graphics are prettiest I think, although VX has the potential to be better. Win some lose some. The battle system I really like, good job on that.

Hm i thought it was understood already, but i guess it never hurts to say again, i got you so you could write char backgrounds and events, so write me somthing , and yeah im not really into VX either, want to master Xp

Yeah I agree on that one. Char backgrounds...hmm.... For everyone except Havoc i'm guessing? You seem to have him well though out enough, so i'll start with Brute and Julia. I'll have to replay the demo so i get ideas. Actually, can you send me a copy of the project, so I can see what kind of events and such you're using? You only included demo, so I can't realy see how everything is set up, and I'm afraid I might make something.....out of place or of the wrong sort.

Well sad to say as im deployed now i cant send you the project cause of bandwith/time use, but playing the demo should be more than enough to get the idea of it, and really any ideas would be new and fresh to me so id like to hear them.

Hi guys! I'm the new artist for Kingdom. I'd appreciate if anyone can give me some tips on the story because as I see it now..the demo is a little...jumbled. For the sake of organization, if anyone has the backgrounds to the characteres and details of the surroundings, I'd really like to read them. I can better illustrate the story if I know what's going on! haha

Edit: I downloaded and installed the game, but it doesn't seem to work. It keeps giving me this " RGS_RTP STANDARD MISSING" error. I think he forgot to give us the RTP files needed to run the game, either that or it isn't working because I don't have a copy of RM on the computer. Can anyone reload it as a stand-alone game? I need to get a look at this title screen so I can start work.

Kingdom is not a #@$ inactive project! I work on it everyday of my life, and so does my staff that I pay, so its an insult to have it in this inactive BS forum cause it used to be in normal demo fourm then they screwed around the names. Maybe some of you ppl should think about the ppl that have been here alot longer then you and have actually done some work

I moved it out of Full Games/Long Demos because it lacked the sufficient information and screenshots, but with you going off like that, I don't think you're about to get it moved back. I don't moderate this forum anyway, so you'll have to contact Antiferea, but with all your swearing and angry outbursts, you're not going about it the right way. Projects Under Construction is for unifinished projects that people are still actively working on, and inactive projects are sorted into the sandbox based on how long it has been since they last had a post.

If you do put this in Full Games/Long Demos, please make sure it fulfils the requirements is all I ask!

As of yet, this thread doesn't fulfil them. It needs more info and some more screenshots.
