>What you should do:

1. Enjoy your stay here :);
2. Don't worry if you need help, just ask either a Moderator or Director and they will advise you- they don't bite :D
3. Help anyone you can, if you feel you're able to;

>What you should know:

1. After having achieved a 100 posts score, you will be given the rank of Revolutionary and a personal gallery in which you can upload your graphics; You'll also be able to add a "customized title" to be displayed instead of the member level;
2. You need 100 posts in order to require a graphic resource in the Resource Forum and in the Script Requests Forum.
3. If you desire, you can also ask a Director to change your username, once you've become Revolutionary;
4. Be sure you read the Board Rules at least once!
5. RM2K3 download was disabled due to legal stuff, since the English translation was not authorized by Enterbrain;
6. Before asking for something, search the forum. Maybe you'll find exactly what you were looking for.

>Side notes:
1.While managing your own gallery, avoid using the ' in images' names to prevent your gallery from crashing and the site from producing an error message.

We have a useful F.A.Q.

I've been away from the forums quite a while, it seems. Even though recently, I've been snooping around The Playground section of the community, I thought: to hell with it and made this topic. This topic is to just basically announce that I'm back on the forums, alive and well.

But also, this is a chance for me to start anew. Now that I look back on my time on the forums, I've realized that what I've offered to the community is absolute crap. I looked back on previous 'projects' such as Final Fantasy: Tales of War, and say to myself: "What was I thinking?!" I want to use this chance to start again, and actually offer something worthwhile to RRR. Now I quote the word projects, as really they are a disgrace, and has made me look like an absolute idiot.

So what am I doing now, in terms of making games? Well, honestly, I've given up on making games in RPG Maker. I've moved onto things much bigger. At the moment, I'm looking into actually scripting myself, in languages such as C++, C#, JavaScript, whatever. At the moment, I'm planning to make an RPG project in a 3D game engine, of which some of you may have heard of, called Unity. However, it's actually gonna be a long time since I can actually start working on the project (learning the interface itself, getting into the swing of making 3D games, coding languages, creating character models, whatever). However, when development actually starts, I'll be glad to show it to you guys on the forum. You have not been forgotten.

On the other hand, I'm actually thinking of doing another project in the RPG Maker engine, but I'm not sure. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Anyhow, I'm back. I'm home.

I know! It seems a lot has happened since I've been gone. It seems Holder's lost his Director rank - I was actually pretty shocked.

You mean you've given up on...
  • Pokemon: Defectionem Populi (the revival of Pokemon Trezea)
  • Gore: Laisville Horror
  • Final Fantasy: Tales of War
  • Warriors of the Sunrise, and,
  • Final Fantasy VI-2
It doesn't make sense to move onto "things much better", such as a game in a 3D game engine, when you haven't even completed any of those projects.

In the Final Fantasy: Tales of War thread, you said "At one point, I almost gave up on this project completely, but I forced myself on", and even after saying that, you had a game with plans for twenty-eight characters (later reduced to fourteen) and eight continents, and at one time, plans for a boss with a billion HP. Then, you were considering porting this game to Japanese... in order to get a wider audience for the game. Sixteen months later, you're giving up on the project.

Another project? Really?

If you're going to do this. Only have one project, and make it original, not some amalgam of Final Fantasy characters. Next, don't have it be so ambitious that you won't finish it. Your aim should be for one original reasonably-sized RM game.

Greetings and welcome back biggrin.gif Nothing massive happened really I just don't have the time these days.

My advice would be to do a lot of research and plan things out accurately and realistically in the future.

Oh Rob I couldnt agree with you more! sleep.gif and Ben we are thinking the same. I remember you to Nesa, I remember you quitting on a lot of things, I have a very good memory. Let the lesson be learned and yes start anew, cause the old wasn't working.

Unity? Ouch.

I guess it's good to have big dreams, but if you couldn't finish your previous projects with RPG Maker, I doubt you'll be able to finish a 3D game. I'm totally not being pessimistic, but sometimes you have to be realistic and finish small projects before working on big ones. Either you devote yourself to making graphics, or coding, because if you're planning to make both graphics and code the game yourself, you're literally going to cry over it.

Thank you for the advice. I agree with all your points - I had so many projects going on, that honestly it was too much. And all of them were poor. And thank you everyone for the advice. I should take it steady, one step at a time huh?

Most people who are beginners in designing games (or creating any material for that matter) will generally go in full-force and try to tackle many projects at once, just to end up realising that they are one person and taking on many large projects is not simple even for groups of individuals.
It's a common mistake, but it's something most people have to learn by doing it first; it is a good teaching tool, and it helps you learn your limits (understanding those limits is the first step to challenging them; without an understanding of those limits you will end up running into them as if they were a brick wall, though by hitting that wall you can begin to learn how to climb over it). =]
