The Sega Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio is finally getting some proper attention after the series fell dormant way back in 2002, after the release of JSRFuture. Sure, characters from it made appearances in Sega Superstars Tennis and Racing, but this is the real deal!!

Has anyone played this gem before? Will you be buying it when it's re-released this summer? If you've never played it I think this is the perfect opportunity to play one of Sega's (nay, gaming's) greatest achievements. The game is pure art, both literally and metaphorically.

Its sequel, Jet Set Radio Future, was even better, but I consider the original my favourite game simply for the impact it had on my childhood, including my general gaming tastes and my music tastes, too. Both games have incredible soundtracks.

So yeah, enough of my gushing! What do you guys make of this? Can't wait? Not bothered? Do tell!

I've played a little bit of it. I'm thinking of getting it for my other half (via game sharing) as they love the game to bits. It was an interesting concept and still looks very good by today's standards. Throw in Trophies and I'll play it like a madman. I love me some trophies.

I had heard the sequel wasn't as good, but I could be thinking incorrectly.

From what I've seen over the years, most fans tend to agree that the the sequel is every bit as good as the Dreamcast original. Its Xbox exclusivity definitely generated a lot of bitterness. I think JSRF is a better game overall, but didn't have as big an impact on me as much as the original did (the original defined my taste in music and irrational love for Sega and Japan among other things), if that makes sense.

I really hope the re-release does well. This is possibly the biggest incentive Sega will have to create a Jet Set Radio 3. I can only hope (as I've been doing the past 10 years!).
