I've played a little bit of it. I'm thinking of getting it for my other half (via game sharing) as they love the game to bits. It was an interesting concept and still looks very good by today's standards. Throw in Trophies and I'll play it like a madman. I love me some trophies.
I had heard the sequel wasn't as good, but I could be thinking incorrectly.
From what I've seen over the years, most fans tend to agree that the the sequel is every bit as good as the Dreamcast original. Its Xbox exclusivity definitely generated a lot of bitterness. I think JSRF is a better game overall, but didn't have as big an impact on me as much as the original did (the original defined my taste in music and irrational love for Sega and Japan among other things), if that makes sense.
I really hope the re-release does well. This is possibly the biggest incentive Sega will have to create a Jet Set Radio 3. I can only hope (as I've been doing the past 10 years!).
