It's been awhile since I uploaded any art here, so here goes. I'm hoping for some useful C&C so I can develop further as an artist as well as improve my CG art skills. Drawing hands is such a pain in the butt...

The below artworks have not been inked in, hence the messy, hand-drawn look, but that's the style I'm aiming for. It comes more naturally to me if I don't ink in my work. smile.gif Heavily inspired by Fire Emblem ( I've always been a sucker for the art. ^^ ) Reference comes from FE10 ( Radiant Dawn ).

Holding thumbs...

Another group of original characters I drew out of boredom. I was actually inspired by listening to some J-pop music, and
an idea for a manga came into my head using the above characters. I'm still trying to get the hang of drawing hands.

Please C&C. smile.gif

Before I say anything, I gotta say HOLY SHIT. You need to work on HANDS? LOL your hands already look flawless my dear, they are simply amazing! If you find them difficult, then it's hard to know because the way you draw them makes it look like you know exactly what you're doing and like you've mastered the art of drawing hands ages ago lol I'm just REALLY impressed with your ability to draw hands so flawlessly, VERY impressed.

Honestly? I can't think of any crits to throw in here. Your art is wonderful. You have a more oldschool video game style as opposed to just pure anime, you look like you know what your doing with proportions and anatomy. You can draw motherfucking GUNS, fabulous attention to detail and design, you can draw folding in clothes, shit. I REALLY like your art smile.gif

About the only think I can suggest, if you don't or haven't yet, design a couple really old people LOL. Seriously. Especially a bony one, because it will force you to dive into knowledge of the bone structure of the face which will help you in the longrun with characters and customizing each one's face. Now I'm not saying you fall victim to this, I haven't seen enough of your art to be able to, I just know myself and many others that have- I just find with a more anime-esque style it's too easy to draw characters that almost all have the same looking face lol.

Thanks Homun. smile.gif

The only reason the hands look decent is that I used extensive reference, and I used reference for drawing the guns and folds in the clothes as well ( I actually have a resource book with over 3000 poses ^^, maybe I should try and do the majority of them ). And yeah, my art-style is very old-school ( I hate pure anime, the characters are just too MOE for me ( another reason I dislike the Kaduki art ), and I tend to get more inspired by looking at more serious manga, rather than the generic big-eyed, big-haired characters that are so prevalent nowadays.

In fact, whenever I draw a female character, I never, ever draw her with saucer-shaped eyes. If you look at my avatar ( was trying to go Nomura there ^^ ), that's how I generally draw them. Sexy, slanted eyes, and adult-looking faces, instead of round ones. smile.gif

But yeah, I try to draw some old farts. lol

I see why you say that you need to work on your hands. Other than that, your skills are really really really good. I like your style and I like the characters that you have created. Good job

Yes, especially when you look at the first drawing I posted. The hands are horribly off, even when looking at the reference art of RD ( Radiant Dawn ). But for some strange reason, when I did the second group of characters, I was concentrating like crazy. I even became unaware of my surroundings and lost track of time. Maybe that's why there's such a huge difference between the two. smile.gif

Honest to god, best reference for drawing hands is your own. Hands are super crazy hard to get into the swing of it, but once you catch on they're easy as pie! It's mostly just small things that are insanely hard to describe LOL. Just a couple lines that are in the hand that are so subtle but SO impacting.

Sorry to be all imposing and whatnot, but I did a tutorial for someone a while back, this is the part about hands. It's extremely simple, but it covers a couple of the "fine details" that are hard to verbally describe lol
Part 1
Kind of a part 2

And YES. Keep up that classy style >: D I absolutely love it, it took me ages to get out of the anime rut I had gotten myself into (2 years to be exact) but I really would love to learn the art of oldschool anime.

The first two, the fire emblem inspired ish ones, I don't really dig the style. Don't get me wrong, they're really good. But I just couldn't get into it.

The second post though, wow. You're attention to detail is pretty rad. The guns look EXCELLENT. and the hands here, I dare say, look FANTASTIC. The anatomy is great, although your heads do come off a tad angled tongue.gif.

I have to say. It's really good.
