I need help with balancing alot of stuff in the Database. Most importantly the Main Characters, their leveling and stats, and Enemies, there states and rewards) Stuff like Skills and Equipment would be nice but isn't a real big concern. Please help out. The database is my biggest problem.

Try testing battles at various situations through the troops editor in the database. Such "situations" would include the level of the party, the equipment, etc. The more you test the more issues you will weed out.

Just a basic stat example of actor and progress of actor and enemy would be helpful. Additional info is that I don't want high number stats and damage. Think Dragon Quest 8

I had a Class and Magic Guide tutorial that I can no longer find on this site... I'll need to add it back. In the interim, I have it on another site as well. It basically shows one way of balancing out character stats and magic damage, and also includes a link to a fairly well written balance system by ZeroManArmy. You may have to register with some of these sites to view the content, but here's the link to my class/magic guide:

When I work on battle system balancing, there are a few things I do to make sure the system is balanced. One check I do for melee damage and magic damage classes is determine the damage per turn (dpt), frequency of turns, and expected amount of MP uses. Obviously, magic users will be able to do slightly more damage due to the fact that they are consuming a resource which limits their use.

However, lately I have been nerfing those attack magic spells in damage but tagging on new status effects (fire has a 15% chance to inflict burn, frost has a 10% chance to freeze the target and drain MP for 2 turns, bolt has a 20% chance to stun, etc.) It adds a bit more variety in the battle and helps define each role a little better.

The other thing I am picky about it balanced damage formulas. I usually tie the magic dmg and physical damage formulas close together, and run them in spreadsheets til I get an acceptable deviation. I like battle systems that allow cross class combinations, and as such, I like to have each class able to deal damage magically or physically without being completely useless.

I would be willing to help you come up with some basic formulas though, if you wanted.
