It's been a while since I've stepped into the 'visual/audio' creative side of things, haha. In fact, I haven't done anything like that in a year or so. I might use this thread for posting works-in-progress to get ideas and critique from other users, so I can whip myself back into shape.

Lately, this is a vector drawing I've been doing for a spray/avatar for Team Fortress 2, since my username there is 'Fluttershy is an Engineer'. I wanted something original, so I had this idea. Mind you, it's still a WIP, since it needs the sentry drawn and a foreground layer for a barricade.

It seems to work well, though I'm not sure why there is a random board nailed into that fence. 0.o

At any rate, it's looking good for being cartoon-styled. What software do you use?

I'm using Flash CS5.5 Professional. I've tried dabbling around with Photoshop, but I just can't stand using the program for drawing, to be honest. Especially when it comes to vector artwork.

As for the board/nail, there's supposed to be another board behind it for reinforcement, but that's just me being a lazy ass at the moment, haha. The sentry and foreground barrack will mostly be obscuring it, anyway, so I felt that I could tweak it afterwards.

Ah, that makes sense. XD

Oh, and in relation to Photoshop, you might want to use Illustrator if you are only working with vectors (it's mainly a text and logo vector program, but it's useful for other things too).

I think I might end up using Illustrator for a project I'm doing with RMXP when it comes to....well, everything. It'll practically end up being a hand-drawn game, but I just can't get used to Illustrator as of yet. I just find Flash to be extremely comfortable, haha. One of my friends uses Illustrator for all of his Flash animations, but then again, he only uses the pen tool, which I can't stand, haha.

Potentially finished logo for a project a few friends and I are making with RPG Maker XP. I could use a few more opinions on it, though.

For a logo, the tree seems very much too sharpened. I wouldn't suggest blurring it, as that would look weird, but I would suggest getting a different tree or redesigning that tree to look less like pixel-art.
Pixel-art is fine, if the entire logo is made of it, but it is highly inconsistent to use that tree against that patterned background and stylised font.

A friend helped me out with getting the right effect I wanted with the text. Oddly enough, he used PowerPoint to do it. Shows that I need to brush up on my artistic outlets, haha.

I'll add the drop shadow and light glow for the finished logo for the game.

EDIT: I just realized that the text is slightly larger than the background. I'll fix the image and repost later.

Yeah, you'd be surprised what you can do in Microsoft Office, lol.

Anyway, the text looks pretty good, and the new background looks much better than the older one (brighter, not as dull).

Nice work between you and your friend. =D
