Did you give it about 5-10 seconds to move? There is a delay for them to move (for graphical effect). Either way I have a bunch of other bugs to fix. The only one you have to watch out for is using the teleportation in the ancient city, you'll be invisible afterwards so don't bother yet (it's not necessary).

Well, I'll still wait for the patch before going through the abandoned city. I want to explore it all. tongue.gif

You can always come back so long as...

Words Plot
You give Tema the book (if you take it, you don't have to). If you take the book and don't give it to her she rats you out of Deton so you can't return to the ancient city, obviously.

So do keep going, just don't use the crystals in the ancient city, it just leads to a small monetary reward.

city fun
Also try interacting with the southern wall in the ancient city with the sign saying not to touch it....you get a extra puzzle. I'm just stating this because I dunno if any players have stumbled upon absolutely everything Words has to offer.

Patch is almost done, I'm just waiting for Kayden to play using a clean save as I think some issues he's having are due to using an old save from the previous version. Minor issues left to fix even then. Other than that I just need to add more dialogue at two points and then I'll release the patched version of Words for this release. cool.gif

Update: I had to patch it again, a lot of major issues that the 27 people who downloaded never told me. I play tested myself and found them plain as day so yea, thanks for the feedback. mellow.gif

Includes a new random dream sequence (occurs randomly), it will repeat (as in, if you sleep again it has a chance to do it again), I planned for it not to but didn't set that up so for now it repeats. Why not? http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4vbyt9l1n04assu

2-3 hours for the first playthrough of pretty non-linear content.

Secrets to discover.

Puzzles

Unique combat.

Custom soundtrack of pretty professional quality (the tools are professional at least), the music makes up the majority of the file size.

Replay value up to five playthroughs, in this release.

Non-cliche fantasy world, mature subject matter, and a story where you aren't defeating the big bad.

Upgradable camp system.

Radio system (it's evented too!)

Skill trees where nothing is mandatory.

Should be worth it, I'd wager. happy.gif

Lol, Back to the beginning again. At least the music is entertaining smile.gif

  • The masked man, you can clearly see him in the beginning... Isn't he suppose to not be seen until Nep is killed?
  • Masked man levels after the fight.... If that doesn't tell you something...
  • After Bole got the bandages, birds started chirping...
  • When chapter 1 begins, you see the whole picture instantaneously, goes black, then fades in... Set picture opacity to 0 before the screen goes, then increase
  • Still got to fix that area on the beach
  • The stealth cave is still very glitchy. Guards aren't moving, guards still being able to detect you even tho they aren't there, lots of stuff like that.
  • I went back to home (forgot name) and on the path there was a hole, I got the chest but then explosions started, I didn't interact when home got attacked.
  • Bole and Ling turn at the exact same time while at camp... Odd

That's all I got. smile.gif

Hm, can't say I really see that as an issue. Could move him sure, though if the player is focused on the center of the screen...I never noticed him there myself because of that. I'll leave em there.

It tells you Words has a leveling system! Duel did not have a leveling system but Words does. I merely did that to think like a designer. Show, don't tell. I show you Words has a leveling system before things even get started. I assure you, the masked man is not critical to the plot in any way.

What area on the beach? huh.gif

I'll shove em even further into the wall then. Once again (just to make sure I don't get flak), this is not my fault. The script I use has no "off" mode. Once I give an event the stealth command it's forever there and no matter what I do to the even afterwards it still will detect you. I attempted to fix this by shoving the events in a wall (that way they won't see you). I'll go back and make sure that turn away from the parts of the map you walk on and that they are in places you won't walk near. Why do I hate programmers? This is just one reason why! laugh.gif

The hole is fixable, just interact with it. I'll look at it though...Explosions like when the home was attacked or explosions like Bole's fireball?

Eh, not a big concern to me. I can and will "fix" it but yea, meh.

Thank you very much for reporting in...Although I find it extremely odd you didn't find massive stuff wrong before this new patch. huh.gif

Oh and if you want to comment on the new content (sidequests in Deton), radio stations have more music, Ling's sidequest, and the new enemies be sure to do so. wink.gif

i really like this game, I like the battle system, it's very strategic, I can't just expect to keep on attacking and win, the skills play an important role in battle too. The story is very well done too, I like the atmosphere you created, the beginning of the game evokes a feeling of childhood, the village is very peaceful. I like the world map too, it's like the map of Super Mario World. This game is very creative in the way it was made.

The bad, I didn't like mapping, but that's okay, it didn't bother me too much. Some of the dialogue wasn't bad but i didn't like the way it was written, sometimes you just left the boxes empty to draw attention to the face graphics, maybe just leave a row of dots like this: "......"

I give this a 7/10

Hehe, battle system uses some scripts but it's pretty much all evented, merely using scripts to add depth. The row of dots thing is something many a folk have been dry.gif about and I'm on that band wagon. Blankness means just as much silence as dots. I''m not arguing with you of course, just stating that it's useless to do the dot thing.

Your complaints are of course valid but I'd like to ask that you go into more depth for your feedback. You can tell me the maps suck but I gotta know what maps and any ideas you have for them to make them better. Just telling you didn't like it doesn't help me make Words a better game.

Do the same thing for the good stuff too! How is the story well done? What about the game makes an atmosphere (is it the music, writing, gameplay)? You did go a little specific when mentioning the battle system but please do the same for everything else!

And if you don't that's fine too. I'm really not worth your attention, logically. happy.gif

Thanks for course for the attention you have given me! wink.gif

New main theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1QlUZ_yzCA

No new download, but I can tell you the content that's been made thus far:

Two new sidequests, new gameplay added in at least one of them (the other isn't finished in concept).

Previous choices made 2 hours ago in the game come to light (just one actually but it has 5 different branches). It's also the first dialogue battle (i.e you gotta pick the right choices to do whatever it is you want to do and picking the wrong one's mean you're choice will not be fulfilled, think like the Deus Ex: Human Revolution stuff, just no broken persuasion skill).

New enemies crafted, more to come.

New lore added.

And that's what's been done thus far, long time until the next release, more or less I jsut wanted to share the new main theme. Enjoy!

There's no journal in the demo. The journal isn't a quest sort of thing, it will just contain all tutorial information in the entire game, essentially a FAQ within. It's not even started yet though because plenty of features aren't in the game yet and I'd rather work on the journal when all that is good and done so I can explain it as cleanly as possible.

It just says things like how Ling gets double the effect of using healing items, how you get Ink Wells, etc. You'd start the game with it, when it's made, and any information it would have would probably be said in the game itself at one point anyway. It's just for refreshers, I always hate games that I need to go online to find information on. wink.gif

remove any reference to said journal then. This confuses players when you incorporate "features" that are not complete or in the game. Its best to either not release a game until the features for that game are 100% complete or release the game with no mention of said features.

I know, I'm not concerned about confusing players, thus far only you've asked of the 20+ people who've probably played the game at one point or another. Therefore it's not a big deal that you asked or that I leave that in the game. Less work for me. cool.gif

Thanks for asking of course, I'm grateful for any attention I get for my work. Hopefully next time you'll have more in the way of fantastic feedback for me. wink.gif
