Paradise Blue

Backstory
In the old Island of Azulea, the natives are pushed away from the land they once held. The ones who conquered the land have settled and created a new civilization on the Island. Now that the King is near death, there are 2 groups that are fighting for the throne.

Characters
4 Guards: You play as these guards. Their gender/class/name can be chosen. They don't have a speaking role.
Neil: A 23 year old Blue Mage. He had a job in the castle, but was removed with a dispute with Llorcan.
Amelia: An 20 year old girl who tends to be really mean. She's an Assassin, but her task is to assist Abigail in acquiring special Tokens.
Lord Javier: A ruler of Marsall. He cares about women more than he does anything else. He tends to exploit both citizens of his town and the government for his own gain.
Amaro: Amaro is in charge of Lotus. He and Salomon are fighting for the crown. Amaro is the nephew of the King and the closest in line for the throne. He is a nice honest person, but also a coward and usually takes orders from Llorcan. He doesn’t like violence so he tries to stop the conflict that would go on.

About the game
You can change your class once you beat the 1st boss. Before then, you can choose which starting class you want your characters to be, out of 6 of them (Fighter, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief, Monk). You gain ABP after a battle, so once you get enough ABP, the character can learn an ability from their class.

There are 40 quests in the game.

You can hire people in the towns to help you in battle. Some may use abilities like boosting your magic power, walking speed, letting you attack first, and more.

Hey, this actually looks pretty cool to me! I love the early SNES/late NES graphical and aesthetic style you're achieving with the game. The class changing concept sounds cool too. Reminds me of FFV.

I've been taking screenshots of various "Little things" I've encountered that I don't think are working right (or clearly aren't), text fixes, etc. Will you want them?

Phew. Possibly 100% Complete (Definitely beaten - as always, buffs break RPG 2k/2k3 game difficulty when stacked...)

Just wanna check!

[Show/Hide] Did I miss any bosses?
I've completed all missions, so all quest bosses (Statues, RageFish, Siki--err, Judge [I smiled 8D]) are counted.

I've fought and beaten DarkSpirit, too. And more importantly, Bed Bug - I think I was at max level (30-31) and I still had to take a couple runs at it [BUT I LOVED IT. Wanted to record the fight. Fraps doesn't like RPGMaker and Camtasia doesn't record audio output. GRAH D: Also slowdown]

...Am I missing any other big secret bosses or am I done? Looking through the game data, the only things I think I didn't fight were Gouk, the weaker Llorcan, and the SunSerpent - who doesn't appear to have a Monster Group entry, but looks tougher than the Bed Bug...

Excellent, I think you did cover it all. Yeah, buffs were really not my friend here, I had serious balancing issues because of the open endedness (I couldn't tell what abilities the player would have at any time, nor what level), and the buffs that were too strong. I couldn't control that in RM2k3 however so oh wellz.

You didn't fight GOUK, he's on the top of the tower near the temple of Narena. Careful not to kill him too quickly! The other ones are not present in the game. The SunSerpent was meant to be the last boss of the game and the Serpentines having a bigger role, but I decided against it when I went all mechanical with the summons (The battles in the Spire of the Spirits actually used to be the old Summons of the game). So yes, the weaker Llorcan was there because I wanted to change his stats and place him lower in the monster set so I could find him easier, but you don't fight him easier. Basically, it looks like other than GOUK, you got them all. Bedbug is supposed to be the toughest one.

Okay. Cool that it all worked out... :3

[Show/Hide] Endgame Details

Archer with TripleCut and Attack+ 3. Seriously, an Archer or Assassin with that setup will take down encounters in one attack most of the time
Bard with BuildUp and All Stats+ 2. Gave him the Prism sword after sneaking around BedBug the first time. Song is a ridiculously awesome set of buffs. And BuildUp is the best damage attack in the game - with Power, Charm, and Ancenforce, we're talking >4000 damage to Bed Bug.
Blue Mage with White and MagicGuard. Between Heal2, Life2, BigGuard, and MagicBreath, an excellent support and damage unit.
Summoner with Time and MagicGuard. Haste/Quick being an essential buff, and Ancenforce/Ancera are essential too.

Gonna go hunt down Gouk, and I figured that's what happened with SunSerpent and the ArcAncanger battle. Also, gonna have to try again without doing 90% of the sidequests before the tower - I got thrown off by the level ~24 enemies outside, when the inside is far easier... so I did the last chunk of the game at level 27 or so and it was waaaay too easy XD

Also, I just said I want to replay an RPG Maker Game. I've almost never played an RM game to completion, and I want to go back and replay this. @_@

PS: Props for the Judge boss. Complete physical immunity made her almost as tough as Bed Bug, because my party is very non-magical-damage--oriented XD

NINJA EDIT: It'd be totally great if there was a stronger version of the final boss if you completed all the missions + DarkSpirit & BedBug

Niiice. Heh, just for fun I tried a level 1 run of the game. It's possible, if difficult in some places. I never tried to beat the bedbug with it though, I figured it'd slay me faster than I can say "Sikieiiiki"

Yeah, I love the all enemy attacks. I was actually doing that with spellcasters but I toned down their spells. Attacks were doing like 200 and spells were doing 1000's, so I decided that something needed to change.

My worry was that people generally tended to avoid the Blue magic spells in other games, and things like songs and dances. I wanted to make them useful. I use Song often, because I love buffing Attack power. I actually like Dance too, Sword dance does about the same damage as a good Build up, and the Temptation dance can confuse ANY enemy/boss. It is random though, but still fun to use.

And yes, Siiiiiikieiki. She had fun taking down my party with her 255 speed and comet rains. She's actually not too bad though, I had her nerfed before I released the game to anyone. She had higher HP before and her own theme. Of course I wanted to use my own original music so I had to remove the song :<

You know, I didn't think the MagicGuard ability would be used.

I actually found it very useful. Nullifying Mute -and- nearly nullifying most magic was very helpful, as the essentials (Focus, Haste [via Auto-Haste], and MP Recovery [via M.Regen-NPC]) were all covered by my party - plus it let me benefit from that added protection against elements and focus on physically defensive armor like Pearl shirts, or later, Prism shirts.

And actually, I've loved Blue Magic in almost every game - if not purely for BigGuard, but also skills like White Wind or Storm Cannon or similar.

Spells could have been buffed back up, a bit, I think - they are stronger unaided, but buffs don't effect them nearly as much as physical skills.

I'm curious about Siki's original stats, actually XD And you found a MIDI of Sixty Year Judgement? Dear lord, _DO WANT_ @_@ Though I can see why you removed it. Maybe remix it? There's only about a billion remixes already XD

...I have to admit, my fingers twitch to try editing in a "Hard Mode" - raising enemy levels and stats and altering attack sets a bit (EG: Drain is ridiculously weak coming from Bed Bug...), buuuuut that's because I'm insane 8D

Noooo I was just using the mp3. I'd love to get a midi for it. I'd make it myself, but the song is like 8 and a half minutes long.

Actually, that's a good point about that ability. I like the Pearl Shirts but usually end up wearing something else. I can't believe I forgot to put the Steel Armor in the game somewhere. It was 225 Defense. :<

Agreed - especially since the Prism and Mirage robes can't be worn by heavy classes (Although the Tiger robe is an awesome substitute, it just doesn't match up to the added defensive properties of the aforementioned two).

...I'm talking about it like the full version hasn't come out yet and I'm a betatester XD

From what I've been hearing, I almost feel like doing what you ninja editted before, making a weaker last boss in the normal game but upping the power for them if you beat the DarkSpirit and Bedbug. Some people have been having major trouble with the last boss, and it having 235 speed (255 speed in some versions) is part of the reason why.

Wonder if Lynn found her NPC yet.

Really? I found that none of his attacks were all that threatening, so it didn't matter he was so fast, and with Haste on my party (And stuff like Wolf Armor on an Archer...), I was matched in speed anyway XD. But then again, for the attack threat BigGuard/Focus/Ancenhance combo made the BedBug into a non-issue, excluding Nuke, which couldn't be survived even with all that (Though I've been really close D: )

Still, I'm all for a version with added challenge 8D If you do, give him Ancient - nothing that made it to the final version uses that.
