"A pokemon RP? Nicsp, you've got to be kidding me..."
Well, the other day i was sitting bored in my house, watching television, thinking that i should start a new RP since my other ones pretty much died. At that very moment, when i switched channels on the TV, i was faced with the opening theme of Pokemon. "Oh, why not? It might be interesting." And with those words in mind i decided i'd open a Pokemon RP.
"Right...What Pokemon will we be allowed to use in this?"
I've only accompannied Pokemon up to generation 3, but unless people argue against it for any reason, we'll be using ALL Pokemon.
"Nicsp...Do you even have a storyline for this?"
So to speak. I intend to do this slightly based out of Pokemon Colosseum and Gales of Darkness, but i'll likely be making up stuff as i go, others are free to add whatever they want as well.
"I never played those two...What are they about?"
Basically, there's this organization called Cipher wich "poisons" Pokemon with a dark aura that makes them insanely stronger, but, as a drawback, eventually kills them. Our objective would be to defeat this organization and free as many Pokemon from the aura as possible, that's where the Snag-em machine comes in.
"Snag-em machine...? That name is very cheesy."
Yes, i know, but it's Pokemon, what did you expect? The Snag-em machine is, basically, a glove that a person can use, and pokeballs thrown while using that glove can be used to capture any pokemon, even those alredy assigned to other trainers.
"Wait...We'll be able to steal pokemon from each other?"
In theory, yes, in practice, not so much. Pokemon are living beings with feelings and thoughts and as such tend to keep certain a loyalty to their owners, you can steal someone's else Pokemon, but getting them to work for you is another story.
"Uh? But then how will we purify the Pokemon infected with that aura?"
Pokemon that have been locked in the dark aura have their feelings and emotions locked away, as such they won't even notice that their owner changed.
"Right...One more question. How do we purify those Pokemon?"
According to the Wiki and from what i understood back when i played the games. By unlocking their hearts and making these pokemon like us. That is not completely restricted to always being nice to the pokemon, teaching it to be loyal and be very strict with it will also open the pokemon's heart in a more "teacher-student" relationship.
"All right then, WHERE will this be happening?"
In the Orre region, Wiki description time.
This region is noticeably arid, being divided into a huge desert wasteland and a small, mountainous green region. In the center is Mt. Battle, a dormant volcano where trainers go to sharpen their skills. Orre has very few settlements in it due to the climate. Interestingly, its largest city, Phenac City, is located in Orre's harshest environment. There is a lively port to the southwest of Orre, which is presumably where it keeps its connections with the other regions, using ships such as the S.S. Libra. Despite its environmental problems, it is one of the most advanced regions in terms of science and architecture. It has no connecting routes because of the rough terrain, and wild Pokemon are very rare, appearing only a handful of spots throughout the whole region.
"Wait, i have another question. How can we tell a normal pokemon from a "dark" one?"
Some people, such as the female companion in Pokemon Colosseum are simply born with the hability of seeing the dark energy flowing through a pokemon's body. While you can have your character being born with that ability, our characters will all start with "scouters" (I sense incoming scouter crashing posts...) designed specially to tell dark pokemon from normal ones and also to scan them for their...Ahem...Power levels. (THEY'RE GETTING CLOSER.)
Story so far
The organization, Cypher, is pretty famous around Orre alredy for it's two failed attempts at mass producing the dark pokemon. The organization seems to be on the rise once again though, and the local Pokemon specialist, Professor Krane, is holding a small tournament, in search for trainers capable of helping him deal with the Cypher threat.
Rules
-No god-modding. Although this is a pokemon based RP, people and pokemon CAN die, and as such, injured pokemon wich are not quickly taken to a pokemon center or healed with potions may succumb to their wounds. Similarly, when humans get hit by, let's say, a pikachu's thunderbolt, they're not going to simply get blasted away, they'll be scarred, hurt and will likely need medical treatment.
-No bunnying. If, for whatever reason, your character has to steal another player's pokemon, ask the player's permission via PM before attempting anything. Also, whenever someone tries to use a pokemon wich is not theirs, the pokemon's original owner will be the one controlling it's actions.
-Remember this forum is PG-13, while people and pokemon can die, you can't have your 3-feet tall Pikachu rips someone's intestines out of their stomach and then eat them, regardless of how entretaining the idea might be.
-Keep in-character conflicts in-character. Did that other trainer steal your pokemon (Or girlfriend.), just calm down and remember it's all a game, don't start a whole god damn flame war just because the other dude stole your self-created and self-controlled virtual pet. (Although it's a bit more understandable if it's your girlfriend...But whatever the case, keep it away from the forums, yes?)
-Regarding characters from the original story. PM me about it, if you want your character to have met or have some kind of relationship to any of the cannon characters then just tell me what you have in mind before you do anything, if there's anything wich i think may cause complications i may ask you to change it, but otherwise, it's just a check-up, really.

Name: Howard "Howie" Taylor Age: 16 Sex: Male Appearance: Personality: Loud and action-loving. Despite his outgoing attitude Howard isn't very know for being social. Truth to be told, he's know to spend more time with his pokemon rather than with others. He has the habit of always trying to act as some kind of big brother to his pokemon and the people around him, even when he isn't really liked by the other person. He's not really that much interested in being a trainer but followed that route in hopes of learning more about pokemon. Biography: Howard is the son of the owners of a small foster home for Pokemon, situated close to Phenac city. He used to spend most of his time playing with the pokemon in there. His best friend is V, the Eevee. V is one of the oldest members of the Taylor's foster home and was never adopted by anyone. Starting pokemon: -Eevee (V) - Female - Quiet and shy, but determined. Has a strange eating disorder for sweets.

I was wandering what we're going to do about gen 5 pokemon. Are those included or not? Personally, I don't think they shouldn't be until black and white are released.
I'll come up with a profile later today, or tomorrow.
Ah. I wasn't sure if Black and White had been released yet since we do tend to get stuff a bit later here at Brazil. But yes, if it hasn't been even released yet i think we shouldn't use the gen 5 pokemon.

Biography: Born in Mahogany town, Johto, Lloyd, like most young kids, Left home at the ripe young age of 11, setting off to be a pokemon master with his first partner Totodile, However due to his lack of map reading skills he easily got lost and after a year of wondering on foot and training, he found himself in Kanto. After his year long adventure, with only one badge in hand, he decided to postpone that dream and started to just travel and sight see with his pokemon. He hasn't returned home yet, altough he does call back regularly, his knowledge in pokemon is pretty great from his travels, but his laid back attitude has let his training fall aside. Personality: Asaji is probably one of the cockiest Pokemon Trainers you'll ever meet. He loves the fame he's gotten, and uses all ways possible to abuse it. Asaji only shows some form of respect to those that hold higher power than him, like Pokemon Professors, Gym Leaders, etc. However, he is also very charitable to the less powerful, and is often very willing to help a young Trainer in need. Asaji also can never be serious. If he ever gets serious, you should probably start believing in God.
Biography: Asaji used to live in Johto with his grandparents, to be protected from Cypher by his parents (he's a Scouter, but doesn't know it). When he was around 15, he became a Trainer and entered the Johto League for the 1st time. This dis not go well, as he was swept in the first round. He later went into the Hoenn region for 2 years, and finally made it into the Hoenn's League, finishing in 4th place. When he returned to Goldenrod City in Johto, he attempted the Johto League again, finishing in 3rd place. Gaining respect as one of the best Trainers in Johto, he decided to go back to his parents in Orre, overconfident and cocky in his ability to beat anybody that messes with him. Even so, everything there is to know about Gen 5 pokemon can be found on sites like Bulbagarden and Serebii.net, from their base stats, move pools, and evolutions. The only thing missing would be their official English names, and the only pokemon that have been given international names at the moment are Snivy (Tsutarja), Tepig (Pokabu), Oshawott (Mijimaru), Zekrom, and Reshiram. It's all up to you, however. Frankly, it would be easier to remember most of these pokemon if their international names were all revealed.
I'll post a sign-up when I get the chance.

Appearance: 5'11" tall, has dark brown, short hair and grey eyes. Wears a tan leather jacket and blue jeans.
Personality: He's laid-back, calm and collected, a bit vain and egoistic, has a magpie-tendency (collects rare or rare-looking items and pokemon)
Biography: Igor was born in Sunyshore city, in Sinnoh. His parents died when he was 17, he's traveling around the world since then. He took part in several pokemon leagues, and he even was the Hoenn champion, if only for eight short days, before suffering defeat from a new challenger. His rise to championship was more due to luck than to sheer skill, even though he refuses to admit this. Since his defeat, he's aiming to collect rare pokemons.
The last Pokemon game I finished was Sapphire. lol Playing it again using the Nuzlocke Challenge rules but for the most part I've outgrown Pokemon. I have Diamond but never got to the second gym. I am looking forward to this RP though and it's always nice to see more people in the RP community.

I know that, lol. However, it'd most likely force people to always go to one of these sites to check out what pokemon they're seeing now. While i admit i alredy did that for some of the pokemon in this sign-up, i still think it'd be better if we could stick to Pokemon people know from name.

(Yes, there's a reason for me using the Darker Than BLACK character, I like the character a lot... and I'm a straight man).
Personality: When out of mission mode, he's usually laid-back, and has a nice air around him... even going as far as making a miniature black Persian seem to hate him for his antics, although the "Persian" is actually not from the world a a Pokemon, but what's supposed to be a regular house cat in our world. In mission mode, however, he's a cold-blooded killer that would rather just get around the Pokemon side of things, and go about killing those the Syndicate have him targeting.
Biography: Up to 10 years ago, Hei was a young Chinese citizen who had no idea that there was going to be such a thing as Contractors, Dolls, Moratoriums and Forfeiters, and that was how it was supposed to be. 10 years ago, however, he was stuck with his sister, Pai, with working for the "Syndicate" to control the world. The reason why was due to a phenomenon occurring in the world called Heaven and Hell's Gates, making all of that possible, and causing a chain reaction that destroyed Heaven's Gate in a war between different groups and nations. The chain reaction happened 5 years ago, and Hei, who at that point was a cold blooded killer, regained his emotions, and gained his sister's Messier number BK-201 and her power to control electricity, while Pai was lost along the way... with no way of knowing if she's dead or not. Years passed and finally Hei get's a mission that would get him one step closer to finding out where his sister is. Once he gets to Hell's Gate, though, he and Mao are lost to a surge of Syncrotron Radiation, with Yin following right behind them... and then they realize that the Syndicate had given them a chance to start over, but only if they do stuff for them in this world. Hei has completed the other missions in the world, but now has to complete missions in the Orre Region, which wasn't supposed to involve getting an invitation to a tournament by Kane.

Probably not when he's in his "Black Reaper" mode, he would only have it in for the Cypher guys when he realizes that the guys are going after the same guys (confusing, right?).
Either way, he didn't get invited as the Reaper, but Kane knows of his identity... and Hei (called Li by Kane and the others when they know his dumbed down form) doesn't fight with his Contract yet, just when things start going wrong, such as the really top brass coming to harass the heroes (he has to use his Pokemon to distract his enemies in that case).
