Remember that a final battle must be a culmination of all previous efforts condensed into at least one last battle. So having the layer 3 guys be the ones to do most of the damage against the rogue program in a swift and simple manner unlike what has been deliberated in earlier parts in the game.
Like any good essay, a game should usually have an ending that carries most of the same meanings and themes as the middle and beginning. The way that the ending plays out should be a result of the conclusions of the themes, plotlines, and any other causes that collide at that point in the narrative.
So in that respect, I believe that we should continue working on piecing together the middle and beginning before we arrive at a conclusion.
(If only I could write real essays as well as I do pep talks about them...)
Pretty much this.
I want the moments leading up to the final scene to be a culmination of all previous efforts. Battles in layer 3's security will chase the rogue program out an into a robot, the programmers will react, closing off areas manually and instructing the layer 2 heroes on how to seal down the complex, and then, finally, the programmers and son (layer 2 coma dude) holding off the robot via a series of battles until the layer 2 heroes can get the security guns online.
It's gonna be pretty epic, and this is just spur of the moment stuff, if we all collaborate the ending could be incredible.
