I just made some charsets using this generator thing, and I'm trying to import them into the program. However, I get the error "invalid image size" every time I do, even when I've pasted the image over some of the default sprites so I know it's the same size.

Another problem I'm having is that I'll make a sprite that seems perfectly fine, like this one for example

but when I put it in the game, for some reason it becomes this:

Can anyone help? It'd be much appreciated! ;w;

First of all, the image wasn't indexed. Second of all, charsets have 8 chars on them, not just one. I fixed your charset up. It should work perfectly now. Just remember to click the green part of the image when importing.

The reasoning why that generator thing doesn't give out pre-indexed charsets is because some combinations might have hundreds of colors in them and any indexing would force color loss without any manual negotiation. Likely the singular charset size was just because it only generates one char at a time, though sticking it on a full-size charset straight from the get-go would be a good idea for them to consider.

Hmm, strange, because I made another one that was the same size as that one and it worked perfectly. That did work though, thank you!

That Green color in the back is important. You can use IDraw3 to help make that. Or you can use GIMP.
In IDraw3:
Simply right click the color you wish to be transparent.
GIMP:
You need to load your image and an RTP image.
First, assign the Green part of the RTP Image as your secondary color, then Delete the whole Image. This will leave the green color in the Image.
Next, Use the magic wand on your image and select all the green (or whatever) on your image. Then Invert the selection and Cut with CTRL+X.
This will cut away your sprites only.
Finally, Paste your sprite on the former RTP image. It should fit like a glove into the other image and just save it as you image. Works just fine.

Ah, I have another weird problem it would seem.

I'm working with this chipset:

And it appears fine in the selection sidebar, but when I apply anything from the bottom layer, it turns purple. The top layer doesn't do this.

I guess it could be a faulty chipset, because others work, but I figured I'd ask. ;;

Did you remember to click the purple area when you imported it? If you don't click the "transparent color", the importer will instead assume that the transparent color is either pure black or the color that takes up most of the perimeter's pixels. And because of that, anything that is that shade of purple in the chipset, including the "blank" upper tile, will show up as purple.
