Thanks,

Unfortunately, there is no demo out yet, but progress is picking up. Erthia is my own idea, for it is actually the world I came up with over 10 years ago. It was the world I originally used in one of my Rpg Maker 2K games which did not get finished. Erthia came out before Erathia.

My goal is to create a game that can share the same experiences as Might and Magic. Therefore, I created the same skills system, magic system, weapons, classes, etc. As LOE stands right now, it feels like a cross between MM4/5 and MM7 based on what I have test played.

There has been many changes since I last posted here:

Here are some of the updates:

I have done some major updates over the last couple of months in regards to The Legend of Erthia Rpg.

The combat has now been changed to MM4&5 – World of Xeen. Monsters have multiple attacks and each character has their own battle menu.

LOE now has six characters as opposed to four. With the new combat, battles are much more difficult so it was necessary to add them. In addition, I also had to optimize and rebalance all of the monsters.

I added a class info window to LOE. It will allow you to see which skills each class can use and master.

I added the quick info window to game. It will show a list of your character’s main parameters, such as armor class and combat.

I have completed more promotional quests, and I have updated traveling by ship. More areas are now accessible. Also, I have about 18% of the game playable by the story.

Finally, here is the latest video that shows most of these new features, and I also updated the screenshot section on the site to reflect the changes.

There are many more! It has been a while since I posted here. Check out http://www.legendoferthia.com/ for the latest screenshots and more updates.

I guess the best way to describe it, is 2d.5. It resembles that of Might and Magic 4&5 - World of Xeen.

As a Might and Magic fan I am sooooo looking forward to this! biggrin.gif

(Like the Might and Magic VI music, hehe).

I've never played Might and Magic IV and V, however - so I'm not sure how different the combat is from VI and VII. I'm going to watch them on youtube in a bit. XD

I think you're doing a splended job so far. Keep up the good work.

*goes off to play VII*

Thanks for the replies. I love the Might and Magic series ever since I played MM6. Now I have played all of them but 1 and 2.

Here is the latest trailer. This video shows more of the world and the story rather then menus and such.

I am a huge fan of the Ultima games. It was a travesty that after the era of SNES all the good Ultima games were given up for more "Realistic" pursuits. Therefore, for the first time in recorded history, I want to play your game, and I want to play it bad. I have never wanted to play a RMVX game in the slightest but I am making an exception now.

Thanks for the feed back! There is no download yet sad.gif. However, progress is going smooth and faster. I am just about to put together some new screenshots of the new visual interface (windows skin).

EDIT: The new screenshots are up. Go to the first post to view them. Keep in mind, all screenshots in other posts will also reflect the changes.

Just curious, you've been working on this game for 5 years or so, right? Are you only planning to release it once it's complete, or are there going to be beta releases, or will you possibly even sell it (Since you can sell games made with RM as long as it's all your own custom graphics)?

I am still deciding on a demo. A lot of the graphics aren't custom, but even if they were I still wouldn't sell it. My goal is to create LOE for everyone to play and enjoy a good classic MM-like experience just for the sake of having fun playing the game! It would also be great if LOE builds a big fan base, for I'd love to make expansions after LOE.

I definitely think you've already outdone all the SNES and below games of this genre. I never played any games like this on later consoles so I can't speak for them, but this is genuinely my favorite type of dungeon crawler.

Have you ever considered making small, randomly generated dungeons? The kind where maybe an on-map "instance" (WoW term lol) sucks you up and puts you in a random dungeon? It might be real cool if you implemented a feature like that, increase replay value anyway.

Also, in them dungeons, you put tough enemies, an easy way out, but a massive treasure at the end for the daring players.

@Lkmb98
Thanks! I am glad I have your support.

@Klokinator
The random dungeons wouldn't be a problem to implement. However, LOE already has a fixed story and level structure, but I could make a random dungeon based spin-off once I am done.

Maybe just add some obscure out of the way caves then. I mean like, waaaaaaay out of the way caves, filled with high level demons and randomized dungeons.

Curious, will you be implementing multiple levels of dungeons, like in the Wizardry series where you have that one spell that can teleport you anywhere in the dungeon? (Even inside rock which always sucked XD) I'm pretty sure you are but I was just wondering. ALSO wondering how you'd implement that.

For me, the huge appeal of this is FINALLY getting a game like this with unlimited replay value. I can't tell you how many hours I wasted on Wizardry and that game was pretty fixed in many ways. While keeping a somewhat intact fixed route and playing style, it's even awesomer if you make as much randomized as possible. This may end up being the Elder Scrolls equivelent of Wizardry.

I could defined add some secret dungeons, kind of like Easter egg surprises! I remember in Ultima 7 there were a few good dungeons (not random but suprises) like that. As for the multiple levels of the same dungeon, it is more like Might and Magic - World of Xeen. There are lots of levels, but each level doesn't always have multiple floors. As for replay value, I think it will be high! There are lots of side quests, tons and tons of different types of treasure to be found, and a massive world to explore. However, as, mentioned earlier, I could definitely add them as a perk.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ithink it would be cool if the player, while most likely having a set level limit (99?) the enemies would not have that limit. In the potential mega-dungeons the enemies would always check your levels and be 10 levels higher, requiring you to improvise with some sort of legendary weaponry or something.

As it currently stands, there is no limit on the character levels. So far some of the more tougher creatures are reaching over level 200. As for the the mega dungeons, I think that is a good idea, for it will allow for some good challenge and th ability to gain some exp when all of the earlier creatures become obsolete.

Both upward and downward move. Although not 3D graphics, the game is if you can move left, right, back and forth, to go up and down stairs.

This is the latest trailer as of August, 8, 2012. This video shows all of the latest changes such as the new treasure skill and the higher resolution update. All of the music played in the background is from the LOE OST which I am also currently composing.

NOTES: There may be some lag in the video due to the recording software. SFX have been disabled for the video. There is an error while transferring items to other characters. The window is not in the proper position.
