Features Hartacon Tactics is a multiplayer strategy RPG game developed with XNA 4 that will be published in the independent games section of XBOX Live.
The game features a turn-based tactical battle system.
RPG elements like magic, elements and altered states are all present for the lovers of the classics. Eight character classes are available, each with the ability to use one or more weapon types. The player controls the development of their characters choosing whether to increase stats or to acquire new skills. Players challenge each other in 2D isometric maps, playing online against each other or teaming up in up to 4 alliances.
Update I am releasing the Map Editor to the public. It comes with a watermarked version of the tileset. People can make maps and submit them for review to be included in the game by sending them to hartacon.tactics@gmail.com. Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?uhwiug70eh9ybb2
Mapping Guidelines Dimensions: from a minimum of 12x12 to a maximum of 24x24. Maps will be assigned to different types of matches based on their size. Edges: edges do not need to be straight lines. Maps may have holes and irregular borders. Connection: make a single connected movement area in order to avoid characters to be placed in unreachable positions. Height gap: consider that almost every character is able to jump over a gap of 3, values of 4-5 make a selection for the most agile characters, 6+ should be considered a barrier that cannot be passed. Objects: objects become transparent when they hide characters and maps can rotate, however try to limit the use of large objects in order not to make too much cluttered maps and leave some open spaces for the battle.

Demo anytime soon? No offense man but this looks like vaporware everytime I see it. I hope it doesnt fall into that category.

Also, to everybody, please get back on topic. Since this is still in early stages, feedback should be based on the content provided in the thread.
Thanks!
Charlie, it seems like a pretty decent game, and I'd for one wouldn't mind playing this (or seeing a play through of it, at least). I do voice the opinion of others that you probably won't get a lot of feedback here, since most people on this site want PC versions over console games. It's hard to give any concrete feedback at this time do to the lack of information (no mention of story, characters, or development). Based upon the video, I'd say you have a nice project on hand that is very reminiscent of the strategy games of old, and I really like the detail of the menu and layout of the battles.
Beyond that, there's really nothing more that can be said without giving us more information.

The critique makes sense, but, see, this is a player vs player game, there is no story behind, it's like Worms or Gunbound. I'll post all 8 characters' design as soon as I have the final drawings. And then elements, skills, states, equipment lists, there is so much stuff to show, it will get more interesting, I promise, but see, I am working alone on this, and only in my spare time... believe me, it's a nightmare.

This may or may not interest you, but I am a developer for XNA / C# as well. I've coded stuff from tile-based editors to particle engines, but it's hard to get off the ground by yourself. Maybe we could work something out..? I completely understand about the nightmare part lol. Welcome to the club. Games from scratch don't come easy.. (I find it funny another XNA dev shows up after I start posting my stuff. XD)

I have worked on this for two years. I am covered about the software part, I would say it is 90% finished. Now I am struggling to get the sprites done by a professional artist that doesn't ask three-four times what I earn as a Computer Science Engineer with a PhD...
I am updating the first post with the mapping guidelines.
