Installing RPG Maker XP..., Please Wait... Options

I have a completely LEGAL version of RMXP downloaded on a flash drive (my family wanted it on a flash drive for some reason) so I can still use it on the computer (not other computers) that is the family's. For some reason, whenever I try to open up a project with the "Game.rpgproj" or whatever the extension is, it says that Windows is trying to install RMXP but it never completes or fails. So I have to go into the RMXP editor and open my game project from there. Weird, right? :\
I know it's not that big of a deal, it's just slightly tedious. If anyone has a suggestion to make this work again, I'd be very happy

EDIT: I am using 32 bit Windows Vista, running with admin mode on and compatibility.

That is very weird indeed. I've never seen this before.

So you have it installed on a flash drive so you can use on other computers? That could very well be the reason. Have you attempted to reinstall it on the drive again?

No it's just for that computer, and that's all I use it on. I use other contents on the flash drive for other things, but I've never used RPG Maker XP on another computer but that one. And yes I've tried reinstalling, still doesn't work

i have 2 suggestions.

One of them is to pin RPG Maker XP to the start menu. that way you can click the arrow ( > ) and get the list of your project. That's what i do, except i have all my projects at my flash drives, which is my second suggestion if that fails. I have RMXP installed on my pc, pinned to start menu and always open my projects from that list

hope either of them works, but you could try that

i remember i had RMXP on a flash drive once now when i think about it. It worked pretty well for me, but yea, I always found the projects manually then, or did as i suggested (with pinning it to start menu)

Well, that is just weird! Where do you have RMXP installed to? Sometimes, even if you run as admin, privileges are still taken from you depending on where you installed at.
