It is just a marketing trick. Calling improved version also simply as Kinect would make typical consumer probably miss the fact that it is an improved one. Kinect has not exactly a great track record as far it comes to gaming. If new version of the Kinect is actually more precise, I can see how it would work to their advantage.

I bought a PS3 kinect JUST so I could play the UFC trainer game, it couldnt even read half the moves! Its all just junk!

Xbox 720 is going to come with Kinect mark 2 apparently.

Personally I hate motion controls. The Kinect would be okay if it had a controller... but it doesn't. It just makes you feel stupid. But PS3 Move and the Wii have TERRIBLE motion controls. It's a shame.
Gaming with controllers is a lot better, in my opinion. Not because I'm lazy or anything, it's just I don't like it xD I don't like touch screens either. I like having actual buttons in front of me, pretty much.

It's been around 8 years so It's about time for a new system. The hardware on the PS3 is quickly becoming dated and developers are complaining that they've reached their peak on what they can do with the hardware.

It'll probably be expensive but most of us will probably wait a year or 2 to get one so the price will come down. (Except the hardcore PS people).

But. It had to happen sooner or later. They're struggling to keep up to the XBox as it is because X-Box specs are higher. And when the new XBox comes out if playstation doesn't have a new system as well it will blow it away.

I love my PS3 but it's starting to show it's age.

As for a gaming PC.... they're cool and all but the price is still a little lower to buy a gaming system. Gaming systems are dedicated to.... gaming. Whereas even a gaming PC still has to run an operating system and have all the bells and whistles. My gaming rig has to be over double the specs to match the performance of the PS3. It's lightning fast but still has to work all the programs installed on it. A game system has every resource dedicated to games. And nothing else.

This article is slightly out-dated, but not much has changed. Not much AT ALL. Other than Sony now having crap tons of ps1 and quite a few ps2 games available for backwards-compatibility. But as you can see, the PS3 crushes the XBox: http://www.ign.com/articles/2010/08/26/xbo...dware-throwdown
The only game I know of that seems like it has reached the PS3's full awesomeness though is Uncharted 3. Nothing else is really that stunning, as most games are just ports from Xbox games that aren't geared toward the PS3 anyway. So maybe if developers took the time to remake the game in each console, or gear it more towards it instead of just porting it, that would be a valid excuse.

I will probably buy a Ps4 after some time if there are some games released that I realy want to play.
All this social stuff is not realy interesting for me, if I can make screenshots and vids and could upload them on the web would be nice but anything else would be to much for me.^^

Motion controling stuff is another thing I don't need, I like to play with classic controls.^^

What I need are some realy good Games, even the "best console ever" would suck if the games suck.^^

Official "actually released by microsoft" specs for the 720 or the next Xbox have not been released, anything posted is subjective.
The only game that interested me so far is Watch Dogs which I'll probably buy at launch.

The PS3 is showing it's age, the 360 has been showing it's age for a very long time now, and the only real reason I still buy consoles is mainly variety but that was shot, gagged, and thrown off a cliff when the FPS crap came in "It's getting old now.. nothing beats the original doom!"

I generally buy all the consoles anyway, why stick to 1? I'm curious what genre will be at top this type? Doubt it'll be RPGs but platformers have always been fun, adventure/sandbox games are awesome!

It's interesting. It kind of seems like the future for game consoles is looking a little bleak.

A lot of people are looking towards App and handheld games, and Indie games, even RPG Maker games, are actually getting noticed and are on the rise.

... I still have faith in the WiiU, if not just a little.
