Alright, here's a little update. I feel like I haven't posted any 3D in ages, so here is an amazing 2 faces of 3D geometry for you.
I spent far too long on this shit, for what it is.
Workflow
Made base mesh in Maya (literally just 2 faces, simple as fuck) Made a higher detail mesh in Maya (800ish tris) Baked the ambient occlusion and normal map in xNormals Took the higher detail mesh into Zbrush Sculpted even more detail into it (1.3 million tris or something) Baked the ambient occlusion and normals again Textured the DICKS out of it in photoshop Created height map for the -really- high detail normals Put them into crazy bump Combined all the normal maps together Did the same thing for spec map Compiled all this shit together and rendered it in Marmoset
Here it is. By the way, its a slight slope/stone path thing that people walk on or whatever. It's part of a bigger project I'm working on that I'll post here soon because I'm nearly finished I guess.
Also, they're wet for a reason.

Alright, here's the rest of the project I spoke of. IT'S A DOOR. I should probably do hinges and a doorknob though haha
Edit: Replaced image with hinged door. It doesn't have doorknobs because I decided it was meant for bears and bears don't use doorknobs and will just push the door open.

Oh cool, so they've got you doing all different sorts of environment pieces, eh? Or are you choosing the material based on options they give you? (This is curious to me, lol.)
If you scroll past those images really fast (up and down) it gives the appearance of light movement - like a torch or something. XD
Hey Ember, can you design my new house? I could really use someone to create a neat lookin' fence for me. ^^
I've never stopped by to check out your art, but your work isn't too bad. I really like how it looks professional, but I can't stop laughing at the general design scope of the piece.

These are assignments for a 'concept development' class. We get a brief (ie; "Make a door"), come up with a concept then model and texture it. This new one is for a near-future Helicopter Hangar environment slice.

What's wrong with it?

Omg, that door looks amazing. Any intentions to make a house model to fit?
I'd love to, but at the moment I'm just doing the work I'm given so I can pass. Aside from assignments we also have one massive group mod in the Unreal Engine that is nearing it's deadline so we're all mostly busy with that. After that's all done then I would love to make a house from the door, or at least some sort of environment for it to sit in.
Hey man. Your 3-D work gets better and better overtime. That Queens head is really neat and very nicely detailed. Are you going to put texture over it?

Thanks man, and yes it will be textured and fully game ready eventually.
Here's some more progress. I'm pretty excited about how it's looking so you can expect some frequent updates on it. (The large section underneath the face and the majority of the mandibles aren't complete at the moment obviously)
Dong
