Yeah, it's sometimes difficult to get proportions correct on pixel art (especially when it has to fit a certain size to work in a game, etc.). =]

The form of the sprite itself isn't bad, but I think the choices for skin color needs to be tweaked a bit. The darkest lines don't really contrast enough with the rest of the skin colors. On the other hand, I like what you did with the color of the green-hat kid, could you do something similar with this?

Those trees are okay... I guess. I like pudding anyways. For now, just try hatching in an outline with a darker hue for the leaves that would be shadowed. It usually does the trick.
