I'd like to post some of my music in here.

DSC is my fictitious company's name. xD

I think a little background would be adequate:

First, I would like to say that my style isn't cinematic, my style is what I like to call old fashioned video game music. By old fashioned, I mean to say my style, not the instruments!

My influences are many... I always loved video game music, it is in fact my favorite genre of all time and I listen to it daily. When I was little, I used to take a tape recorder and record the songs from NES games I liked from the TV speaker and then put the tape in my walkman and go for a walk. Good times...

I have been trying my hand at composing since 2004, but never really got into it until 2006, where I realized I liked composing more than I thought. I am completely amateur at this, meaning I have no schooling. I do this because I truly like it, like every other hobby of mine.

Many great composers have influence in my music and in some of my songs, you will hear them, with a keen ear... Influences: Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, Michiru Yamane, Motoi Sakuraba, Shinji Tamura, Masaru Shiina , Hiroshi Miyazaki, Koji Yamada, Manami Matsumae ( Manami Gotō ), Takashi Tateishi, Yasuaki Fujita, Minae Fujii, Mari Yamaguchi, Yuko Takehara, Toshihiko Horiyama, Makoto Tomozawa, Shusaku Uchiyama, Ippo Yamada, Yū Shimoda, Ryō Kawakami, Hiroki Isogai, Setsuo Yamamoto, Yuki Iwai, Yuko Takehara, Kinuyo Yama&%#@a, Naoto Tanaka, Naoya Kamisaka, Michael Giacchino, Patrick J. Collins, Steve Duckworth, Akira Yamaoka, Yoko Shimomura. I try to learn from their creations as much as I can... I see no better people to learn from, they're pioneers of game music.

So okay, without further chattering, I will follow with some of my most recent work. Not the best you will ever hear, just my humble approach at game music. These are all part of an OST for a game (that I hope to get going), that does not mean that if you'd like to use my music for a project you can't, just let me know.

I went to listen to some of the music while reading this post, but the music isn't there. It shows the site (which looks sweet, by the way) but it shows is this message: "Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist." Sad face. Fix this so I may critique you, please

Alrighty, post time! It's late, so I only gave one of your pieces a good and solid listen. "Unforgiving Sands." The piece certainly fits the title,it's vibe being very desert like. The stringed instrument in the background (can't remember what it's called) and the vibraphone seem to cause some oddness between each other notewise, not exactly feeling right. I'm not sure if you did that on purpose to add weirdness or dissonance to it or some such thing. I really liked the percussion in it as well, the constant beat ensuring consistent drive throughout the piece.

Expect to hear from me again sooner or later, good work!

Wow, I just went and listened to quite a few of the songs you have on your site.
You're quite brilliant! O_O

I loved many remixes that I recognised from past games and such, lots of really great pieces there. ^^
I also noticed a few 1980's songs (like "Take On Me") that you did, and I grew up on 80s music because that's all my parents ever listened to until recently, lol.
I love it though, and not just because I grew up on it.

Anyway, after listening to a few others, I'm quite confident that you're an excellent "amateur" as you say.
Keep doing these, you're great and I want to hear more!

Unforgiving Sands, one of my older comps.
This song was meant for a game that later got canceled (not my game, somebody else's). My focus on this song was the feeling of being uncomfortably hot, thristy, sweaty all of that followed by insect bites. xD
The sitar and vib-phone can sound pretty odd together, with the sitar being an odd sounding sob already. Sitars to me always give a feeling of relentlessness, it sounds odd, but also aggressive and on a personal level, it reminds of being bitten by insects.
In short, yes I meant it to sound a bit unpleasant, I dunno if I over did it.

By the way, since you ended up listening to an older song and from what you said about the page not being found... do the links in this thread not work? Just wondering, I hope they do... D:

Aw thank you for also taking the time to listen to the remixes. I am constantly adding new remixes, since I have a youtube where I make game music remixes from classics. This is my tube if interested.

Glad you love 80's classics, I love a lot of music from the 80's, crazy era with great music and odd hairdos!

It's what I get for leaving the computer logged in around immature children. Not the first time this happens. -__-

I hardly ever go to my channel page, I usually just upload the videos from my computer directly with out going into YT and then watch the video on its page.
Oh well! >__>
